I saw a few flakes earlier, but the radar keeps lying to me and says we're getting blasted. I don't get it. Promised at least half a foot, and it says it's snowing all over the area right now. Looked outside and I don't see anything falling rn.

(update) The most recent data is now showing we're now in a dumb pocket of no precip. I know weather can't be fully predicted to the last detail but it's so annoying when you get promised snow (a good amount too!) and then nada. I'd rather be promised no snow and then pleasantly surprised.

Oh well, at least I have tacos and beer.

our summer seems to be over here in the southern hemisphere - we've got 15c feeling like 8c due to wind and cloud cover and chance of rain

I'm in Iowa and seeing the snow people in the southern U.S. are getting right now is WILD. I'm envious, myself - it's bone dry up here and any snow we had last month is long gone, so if the southerners don't want their snow, I'd be happy to take it off their hands!

Seriously, though, I know this is a super uncommon thing for people who live there, so I hope everyone experiencing the snow and ice and cold are staying safe and taking care.

South GA and it's been snowing for about 3-1/2 hours. The wind is making the flakes swirl and dance in all the silvery reflected light and it's glorious. I am getting ready to go sit in front of the window with a mug of spicy tea and listen to KPH's "Legend" episode, and then in the morning I will get to take pictures of my dog's first snow romp. Good times.

If anyone wants to send their extra to the Angeles Mountains (and even mountains further south), drought-stricken SoCal needs all the precipitation we can get.

Most toys. American cartoons. Junk food. Toilet humor. Other kids. School. Being complimented on anything - although I think I liked that one before school sort of ruined it for me.

I was fortunate enough to have parents who figured out how to have a good time with the kid they had, though, as opposed to insisting that I had to like what "kids" are expected to like, so that helped considerably.

Have you ever bought something advertised by a creator/influencer you followed? Did you do it because you already wanted it and they had a coupon or were you literally influenced? Did you do extensive additional research as well before buying?
