Windows 11 changing the start menu

I haven't had a Windows update lately, and yet my start menu (Windows 11) has changed in the past day or two?! I low key hate it. It's not necessarily bad, but it's DIFFERENT, and I didn't ask for or consent to DIFFERENT. It irritates me. STOP CHANGING THINGS JUST FOR THE SAKE OF CHANGING THEM. LEAVE IT ALONE. ASK ME BEFORE YOU REARRANGE MY SHIT.

while I know nothing of 11, trust me, if someone hasn't already uploaded "Start Menu Restore for Win11" to the extensions/apps/whateverthefuck they call them now, they will in less than a week. Download it. Save yourself by using free extensions from devs who also hate it and have the coding chops to fix it. Signed, a dude using Classic Restored on Windows 7 to this fucking day.

Misophonia

This is truly such a petty thing, but.

I have misophonia pretty bad, and the number one most common thing that gets me is eating/mouth noises. Something like ASMR where they are eating just sends me into an absolute, total utter rage. One of my coworkers sometimes just makes these weird mouth noises and I have to walk away from her when she's doing it because it makes me want to die.

But for some reason, my BIGGEST trigger is the sound of my mom sneezing.

I have never said this to her because obviously she can't help sneezing, but oh my. The sound of her sneeze takes me from chill to absolute rage monster holy shit someone please kill me right now now now, immediately.

She does have a loud sneeze, but so does my dad, and his doesn't bother me. I think the thing with her, is that she draws it out. Instead of ACHOO! and done, it's like, aaaahhhhHHHHHAAACCCHHHOOOOoooooaaahhhhuuuggggggghhhhh

And then if it's multiple sneezes in a row, it just gets progressively worse. It's so loud I hear it clearly in my room with the door shut, and it's so awful. I would NEVER say anything to her about it but I just reeeaaallly wish she would muffle it a little bit, instead of seeming to intentionally being as loud and dramatic about it as possible.

Honestly, loud, drawn out, dramatic sneezing drives me crazy. I know some folks can't help being loud, but it might be that the ones who pissed me off with that were just terrible people who loved causing drama.

The thing that puts me in a rage is snot sucking. Had a coworker that did this to aggressive degrees daily... I had to move to the kitchen to have my morning yogurt. It got so bad that one time I had to stand in the back of a church at someone's funeral so that I could step outside when people (understandably) started having runny noses. (No, I don't say anything. Only an absolute dick would.) Ugh. I'm trying to get better about it though.

I will just say that as a very loud sneezer, I have trued so hard to muffle or shorten them but alas. I am also a loud hiccuper and I hate it.

But I also have Misophonia so I absolutley unserstand where you are coming from. Mouth noises are the worrrrrst. My roommate does this thing where they crunch loudly, then just stop chewing for a bit, then crunch more, repeat. The noise bothers me but then the randomness of it on top sends me into a totally irrational rage.

I have powerful sneezes but they don't tend to be LONG.

For me the worst just physically stomach-churning noises are scraping-- ceramic scraping, nails against most fabrics... I hate when I put on a journaling video and instead of just talking about tips, useful spreads, etc, I discover it's an asmr thing and someone RUBS THEIR HANDS ALL OVER THE LINEN COVER, it makes me downright sick.

Mouth/food noises are not all created equal. Wet crunching is the worst-- apples are the biggest offender but celery is close and iceberg lettuce isn't that different. My mother eats an apple basically every morning and she WILL wait until the TV is on so that there's some other noise to try and cover any eating sounds, which is all I can ask, but oh man. Like I can't tell her to stop eating apples! But they really are the WORST food to hear someone eat for me. A dry crunch is fine but the wet crunch is Bad.

i have this big time. there's an employee at my current job who sits behind me and loudly smacks her gum for nearly 8 hours straight. if i get up and walk to the other end of the room, i can still hear it. drives me fucking nuts. i put in ear plugs to give myself a break and lower my blood pressure. i also had an employee at my previous job who sat behind me and sucked on hard candy the entire day as loudly as possible.

i wouldn't have a problem if these people were sucking and chewing quietly with their mouths closed but they're doing it with their mouths wide open and it's loud as fuck. it's the lack of self awareness and lack of respect for others in the workplace that really drives me crazy. unfortunately, they seem to follow me wherever i go.

I hate any vocalized sneezing. For God's sake, "achoo" was never meant to be said as a real word while you sneezed, it was just chosen as the best way to depict a sneeze in writing.

That's so weird to me, the vocalized sneezing. But I know what you mean because I just sneeze. There's a sound to it, but I don't put lungpower into it the way some people do. Like... are people actually going "AHHHHHHHHH" and then launching into the sneeze? What the hell for? I don't have misophonia and still think that's dumb.

i truly despise how normalized and accepted drinking and driving is within our culture. it makes me so sick. i don't know if it's just where i live (a rural area nearish to denver co) but it's just so accepted here. i have a coworker who has charges and a court date coming up, it just came out with a whole bunch of drama, and our main boss was just like 'lol well it's not that big of a deal i do it too' and i'm so mad about it. fuck you dude. just fuck you.

If you think it's bad in Colorado, come vacation in Wisconsin, where your first DUI isn't anything but a warning on paper and I routinely hear of people being arrested for 8th, 10th, 12th DUI sometimes with death involved!

We're fun but we have a serious drinking problem and everyone is basically doing the opposite of having an intervention.

personally the reason i decided against driver's ed (also after a go carting incident where i got rear-ended pretty hard for driving too cautiously and stopping on the track) was because i didn't trust myself to be a great driver knowing my distractible tendencies. And i just don't think I'm safe to even be on the road ever. Maybe I'm choosing to make my life more difficult but. Dealing with inconvenience is preferable to being guilty for killing an innocent person because I'm not a good driver. I couldn't live with that.

I agree. Becoming a lawyer made my views skew a little. A single DWI should not lead to a long prison sentence and/or deportation. But you should lose your license. And multiple DWIs? Especially over a long period of time? You are a bad person.

I can't find a single fandom place that is free from haters for the fandoms I want to be in right now. Trek, Star Wars, Doctor Who. Go in a group for one part of the thing, you still see a million hate posts about the other part of that thing (Group for a specific Doctor hating on the recent ones, group about Deep Space 9 hating on Academy/Discovery, OT group hating on ST, PT group hating on ST, ST group hating on PT).

It just gets so tiring. I'm here to love on this thing. Why are you posting about this other thing that is off topic? Can't we just stick to what were are here for?

I bet I have the pettiest one tonight! I love the salsa from Chili's. I get a meal to go from there, and they give you this great big bag of chips, and a little cup of salsa. I'm done with the salsa and I have over half the chips left, even though I tried to use it sparingly. I could easily use 3 full cups of salsa with the amount of chips you get.

Oh well. The chips are good enough to eat on their own too, or maybe I'll buy some cheese to dip them in.

I hate that nobody wants to stand up to my asshat Boomer dad. He's free to say any mean, stupid thing he wants but you can't say a single thing to him (including "You're wrong") or he'll throw this old man tantrum about how he deserves respect and the younger generation doesn't know anything. I know he's old and unwell, I'm supposed to cut him some slack because of his age but honestly? I'm not interested in speaking to him anymore. I'm tired of always being nice and polite and having him low-key bully and criticize everything I do. People will say that I need to make peace because he might die and you know what? I DON'T GIVE A SHIT.

Sure I'll regret that we didn't have a better relationship, but if the only way we can have a better relationship is for me to smile and act like he's the soul of wit when he laughs about how I never amounted to anything in front of the whole damn family then fuck it. People like that deserve to die unmourned. If other family members want to kiss his ass for whatever reason, that's their business but holy shit have I lost respect for the people who sat there and let him talk shit about me without even trying to stand up for me.
