How's your week going so far?

(Anonymous) 2026-03-05 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Good, bad, or just ugly?

Re: How's your week going so far?

(Anonymous) 2026-03-05 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Meh but not in the negative sense. Got my taxes done, caught up a work backlog, did the grocery shopping before any severe weather moved in, but also it's so not exciting, it's boring I'm bored the world sucks I'm poor and can't drown my sorrows in whisky because I can't afford it.

So, meh.

Going okay

(Anonymous) 2026-03-05 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I've walked every day this week after work, which is something I used to do but I have been in a deep depression pit for the past few years (mom died in a traumatic way and then a few months later my dog that I was slightly too co-dependent with died) and basically stopped taking care of myself. So taking a little walk after work seems small but it's huge for me.

Directly related, after a year of trial and error I think we may have hit a psych med that is helping. It's not perfect and day to day is still a struggle, but I'm walking again and I found myself thinking about plans for my garden this summer. I hadn't realized I kind of stopped planning ahead or daydreaming about old hobbies until I started again. So yeah, it's going okay!

Eh, same old, same old. I'm attempting what might be totally futile and a failure, but... 20 years ago, I started writing a long fanfic that I never finished. It's been 10+ years since I updated. I never intended to NOT finish it, but life and mental health issues got in the way. Last night, I reread what I've already written and while it's not perfect (there are things I would've done differently in hindsight) it's still alive in my mind as a story. I think I'm going to try and finish the fic, but I'm a different person now and I don't write anymore like I used to. This might end in tears, but yet I still want to try?

Not as bad as last week, but still pretty exhausting. Woke up at 4:30 today (meant to wake at 5, which is already early for me, had a 7AM appointment when work usually starts at 8). then work ran until 5:30 because court ran long (usually ends at 4:30). I'm just really tired. Actually about to go to bed I think. Not hungry, don't need dinner, just want to sleep.

Better now. Needed a tax preparer for the first time ever (had a bunch of 1099-R forms from my father-in-law's estate and was less than certain about how those worked) and surprisingly a local accountant squeezed us in before a regular appointment! Guess our finances are still very simple...

Also my car needed some (alas, pretty expensive) work but it's done, it's running great, and barring catastrophe it shouldn't need such extensive work for several thousand miles now.

Found a handy-dandy data/charging cable at one of those Japanese import stores (Daiso) and there's a library sale Friday that might have cool stuff. Oh, and got some 3D printer filament to use at the local makerspace (they have a fairly limited palate, as in they didn't even have *white*). With any luck I'll get some time in to do a couple of things.

Good! I've just been in a really good mood lately! No real reason why either, but I'll enjoy it while it lasts!

It‘s going, at least. I’m trying to summon up the energy to start working on my garden, and it’s a struggle.

A few happy highlights. 2 debilitating crying spells.

A glorious evening out tonight.

Tomorrow will consist of 10 hours of soul-numbing ritual torture.

One of the 17 water stains on the kitchen ceiling is finally leaking onto the kitchen floor because my stepfather neglected to find where the leaks were coming from, so now the lazy asshole has to rip open the ceiling tomorrow.

How much time per week do you spend on fandom stuff?

(Anonymous) 2026-03-05 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
I used to write fanfic daily for at least an hour, maybe more depending on how much time I had. I'd estimate just as much time spent chatting to people in fandom, though not necessarily about fandom. (How I miss livejournal days!) Sometimes I'd read fanfic, but honestly not a whole lot. That was 10+ years ago though, and these days I have barely any fandom interaction at all - this is probably the most fandom-related thing I do.

How about you?

Re: How much time per week do you spend on fandom stuff?

(Anonymous) 2026-03-05 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
A ton, if playing the main game I'm a fan of and interacting with fellow players and fans in game counts.

Not much at all, if we're only counting time spent on consuming or creating fanworks.

Barely any. I read a fic for the first time in months yesterday, but other than that randomly checking in here on FS is really my own fandom time. Which makes me sad but I just don't' really have a fandom or a platform to join one.

I was in fandom long before LJ, but that was definitely peak fandom time for me. I loved the platform and the communities and I had so many varied interests/fandoms.

A good portion of my freetime, depending on how you measure it. I read a lot of fanfic. Also, now that I'm on linux I need to spend a lot of time getting used to the available video editing software. I count that since it's to make my gifs and fanvids!

I wish I'd spend more time being productive in fandom stuff.

about 2-3 hours per day, maybe more on weekend days. Depending on what counts as fandom.

Re: How much time per week do you spend on fandom stuff?

(Anonymous) 2026-03-06 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Very little. I don't search out fanart anymore, I might read a fic once every few months. I don't even work on my cosplay because I'm fat and angry right now. I get an hour or two a week total doing my RP tags, that's about it.

And here. Whatever this place counts for, I check in on and off every evening.

Just an hour or two, here and there on this comm.

Everything I like is problematic, gave up on fandom.

Right now, Henry Ashton in AKOTSK, SPECIFICALLY with that Daeron wig. Peter Claffey is pretty hot, too. Especially with his long hair he's growing out for Dunk. 😍

I know they're very current, but they're also... very much my forever type.

Small Generational Survey

(Anonymous) 2026-03-06 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
If you feel like it, for kicks.

1) What generation do you belong to?

2) If you've ever had to link one bank account to another, or a peer-to-peer payment service such a Venmo to your bank account, did you struggle with the test deposits?

3) Do you know what a pdf file is? Do you know how to attach one to an email?

4) Are you able to read the contents of a text message while speaking to someone on the phone?

5) If you were trying to log into a website, and it indicated that your username and/or password did not match its records, what would you do?

6) When you get a new electronic device, how much time, if any, do you spend familiarizing yourself with how it works?
