What is Riza's character arc? How does she grow and change? Where does she experience doubts, where are we given a sense that she could have chosen something other than being Roy's support? I think it weakens her as a character not to show us these things, because then her sacrifices and determination would be a lot more impressive if we could be given the human rationale behind them.

I'm not that big of an FMA fan, but I would've thought that during the Ishbal war we saw a very weak Riza who seemed to, at least for a moment, doubt her actions to kill innocent lives. She may not have a full, complete character arc compared to others, but I just wanted to point out that Riza did have her moments of weakness.

She's the type who, in my opinion, doesn't really have much dreams of her own thus when she hears Roy's dream of a better world, it influences her and she supports him. In a sense, she became (for lack of a better word) stronger supporting a dream/Roy. You can see during the war she wasn't sure if she did the right thing, but she strengthened (why do I keep using that word? XD) her resolve and decided to cast her doubts aside and go forward, making her rather stoic and mary sue-ish in our eyes.

As you said, different people have different views of strength. I think we each have our own valid views of how "strong" Riza is, though I do not agree with your use of that article as I really do not see Riza as the girls used in the examples there. But to each their own. I totally agree that she could have been better written though...

If you include Alberta Watson with the Roy Dupuis, this is pretty much what my friends are saying. I can totally see this point of view, but I have to admit, my rose-colored glasses are firmly stuck on my face. At least until the CW rudely knocks them off, which I'm sure they will. Sigh...

Okay, it's true that some people are born with tight foreskins that need to be removed due to phimosis or whatever, but that's rare, it's not like everyone born with a foreskin has those related problems. Other than that, if you clean the foreskin, you don't have anything to worry about. Smegma builds up in any folds of the body that are warm and damp, like your armpits, or the folds of your labia, which is why all of these parts of your body need to be washed with SOAP AND WATER.

Actually, this could partially explain why ancient Egyptians and Hebrews did circumcision -- because it's kind of hard to wash your foreskin when you're wandering around in the desert. I'm sure there's a lot more to it than that (don't know about the Egyptians anyway) but that seems like a practical reason to do it, anyway.

If I ever have a kid, and it's doubtful I will, but if I do they are NOT getting cut. Thankfully it's not the normal thing over here so I wouldn't have to worry about the doctors going of and doing it without my permission. I don't care what the faith of the father is, it aint happening. If as an adult they want it done then fine but no way would I do that to my child.

To me, I'm all for respecting the faith of people, even when I don't share even some of the basics. But when it comes to body modification? No. Not unless medically needed.

But as I've said, I haven't the right to make that choice for everyone else in the world.

I've never seen the show and only seen pictures on here, so up until a couple of weeks ago I always thought that the brunette was Arthur, and the blonde was Lancelot. But I guess that's because when I picture Arthurian characters in my head, that's their hair coloring. Also, I always think of Merlin as being an older man. I never felt compelled to look into it to figure out who was who in the shows version. haha
