But most of those examples are from dialogue. So the question you should be asking yourself is "does the character swear like this?". If no, then the author is writing them OOC. Is yes, you have nothing to complain about.

Because, as has been address, certain people from certain demographics and professions really do talk like that. And getting on the author's case for writing realistically makes you a dink.

Anon, I don't care of you two are working on something that is winning you a Nobel Prize. You have to get out. No story, no story at all, is worth subjecting yourself to emotional and physical abuse to see it through. And trust me, this is coming from a writer. My stories are my babies. But I would drop it like a hot ceramic mug if someone was hurting me.

You can come up with another story, OP. You can start again. Even if you think that's too hard, think of it this way; if you are suffering, your work will suffer for it too. Get out now, start again.

Silly OP, of course he loved her! But I guess it all depends on what you mean by 'love'. Also, I'm a little confused as to why you would think Jesus needs to be in a romantic love relationship in order to not be against romantic love.

Also, what's with the "I'm going to Hell for shipping Jesus and Mary" idea? What gives you that idea?

I once read an author's work and she wrote super involved sex scenes but always described the guy's penis as a "John Thomas." It was so effing awkward and I didn't get how she'd be OK with really detailed, explicit, sweaty sex scenes but then be unable to use a more common, less Grandma-ish term for genitalia. (Ew, genitalia.)

For what it matters as a former Christian/now agnostic, I believe you really hit the nail on the head here. I recall reading articles about the relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene, and to say the least, any way you look at it, the relationship was complex. But it seems that even though romantic and/or sexual love are gifts from God in the Christian sense, so many Christians want to shame it and make it a filthy sin. If Jesus Christ is indeed God in the form of man (that is the Christian tradition that I myself was raised in, and I understand not all Christians believe the same), then wouldn't he have felt the same feelings and emotions as your average flesh-and-blood man, and wouldn't that probably include sexual and/or romantic feelings?

Huh, that's interesting. A friend of mine gave me the idea to try recording myself reading some of my writing because I've been having trouble finding people to take the time to read it, but I wasn't sure if there was any sort of quote-unquote "market" for it. But if other people already do it, I guess there would be. Maybe I should consider it a bit more, I've been told I have a pretty nice voice, and I'd like to put it to the test.

And hell, I'd be pretty damn honored for someone to do chores or something while listening to my fic, that'd be pretty damn awesome.

Really though, anon. Assuming the secret image is an example of said guy's work, I'd guess that he just has a lot of friends, they're being polite and/or he's hit some kind of niché of people who really like cute, slightly wonky cat art.

I wouldn't get too upset. Just enjoy doing what you do rather than worrying about comments imo. :)
