But it is very canonical that he did have have a loving relationship with his disciples (Mary Magdalene included) - that is what it was so shocking that Judas betrayed him with a kiss. It was a mockery of that relationship - usually called agape by the Christian writers, but I reckon there was a fair amount of philia involved as well. The conversation with Peter in John 21 is beautiful for that reason; the different kinds of love are acknowledged. :D

If 'a story about a man is vastly different from a story about a woman' then that is the whole entire problem; the story clearly works wrong.

The story would work if the main character were female. That's why/how fans write genderflips. Even if it wouldn't work 'the way you want it to' then it would work some other way.

For me, the ratio of my male characters to my female is about 5:3. I think it's because I get the female characters reactions down easier because they are aspects of me. With guys I tend to play around trying to get a feel for certain facets of their personality, with women, I tend to focus on backstory for the personality I've got. I guess it's just that I'm in a mood for experimentation rather than coming up with complicated backstories.

It is almost impossible to find, which just doesn't seem fair at all! There are so many fandoms out there I'd love to see this in.

Yeah, this. That was what Big Bang Theory did for me and physics. I didn't really learn any in the show (besides little laws here and there, at least), but it gave me the motivation to do better in my physics class and actually gave me an interest.

Although to tell the truth, I have used bisexual shapeshifters to solve this problem. My favorite OC is one.
