I wish it was real so much sometimes.

Anon, one never gets over the Prince of All Saiyans. <3
thene: Happy Ponyo looking up from the seabed (lost in translation)

I emigrated from UK lower-middle-class to Southern lower-middle class. WHAT THE FUCK IS IT WITH THESE UPTIGHT NANCIES, I DO NOT EVEN WANT TO KNOW HOW BIG THAT STICK THEY ALL HAVE UP THEIR LITTLE VIRGIN ASSHOLES IS. I have never met a more thin-skinned, touchy populace. Also, they totally do not understand tea.

He may have done bad things, but for the most part it's been for the sake of his family and the club. If nothing else he's incredibly loyal.

It is anti-feminist, and it is one of the worst books ever. I have friends who read it for guilty pleasure (and I know that everyone is entitled to their guilty pleasures), but I'm just so tired of the fail. I don't normally go around hounding people who really like the book because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings irl and I'm typically a lurker in fandom, but the hype over the books and new movie is really starting to make me sick. If you spend all of your time dissecting things you'll find that most everything you enjoy has something unsavory or anti-feminist about it and at some point you just have to let things go and enjoy what you enjoy; however, Twilight is just a little too tasteless and offensive for me to handle. If you really do love it, OP, just try to recognize its faults (that's how I deal with my guilty pleasure fandoms -although admittedly I don't think mine are as horrific as Twilight-). Maybe if you demonstrate your understanding of the books' shortcomings to your friends but still hold that you like it anyway, they won't be so harsh with you. Sorry if I sound like a jerk because I still believe that Twilight is terrible, but if you were my friend, I wouldn't be angry with you for liking it. I talk about how much I dislike Twilight to my other friends who dislike it, and don't bring the topic up around those who are fans.

Oh my god. I had a later version that involved a spelling bee. he random monsters would be the ones you were vs. in the bee too. It creeped me out and I didn't even know where they came from!

(And I played the hell out of the snowey mountain one. Weights puzzles were the best!)

(Anonymous) 2010-06-27 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
This person managed to combine

Considering the age, OP probably had very little conscious choice in the matter. Being judgmental about it is kind of mean. I say this as someone who also has this fetish.... trust me, we already know we're disgusting.

[identity profile] nothingissoundd.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I love this movie so much, and ia anon. It's beautiful.

[identity profile] myrasis.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I was feeling the same way as you, but I played the demo a couple of days ago and I actually really liked it and it didn't bother me much at all. Just play with the lights on.

Now, Ravenholm from HL2? That shit freaked me out so bad I don't even :(

[identity profile] myrasis.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
But that's what I love about those shows. Dexter, SoA, etc. Making me want to root for the bad guys is interesting to me.

[identity profile] cordelia-gray.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
all of the politician characters talked like politicians

LOL!

We totally should make a fandom, I made everybody in my book club read it a couple years ago, but that book really needs more love. All her non-Earthsea books do, really. Not that I don't like Earthsea, it just gets a lot of attention already.

I think LeGuin may be one of those authors that are a little uncomfortable with the idea of fanfic, though. :( I kind of give her a pass on that because I like her and I'm a hypocrite she's old-school. Still, it gives me a little pause about writing fic for her books, y'know?

[identity profile] nothingissoundd.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
This so much. I didn't even know what Star Trek was when De died, but it still makes me so sad.

I'm probably going to cry when they die, because they all will go in my lifetime too. :(

[identity profile] nothingissoundd.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
This so much, I will be bawling.

That Tom and Jerry where Tom was dressed up like a baby and then spanked?

Yeah.....

(Anonymous) 2010-06-27 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
I can't stand this couple because some fantard ruined it for me.
More power to you though OP.

[identity profile] caelith.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
You cannot say that the image used is a stunning example of perfect anatomical proportions.

No, you can't say that. The OP is wishing he/she had enough guts to post as the artist of this example did. She's scared of posting, as are most people when it comes to publicly outing their work. One of the main reasons people are scared is the possibility of ridicule, the OP states that with the way the secret is worded. Using someone's picture as an example of mediocre work is pretty hypocritical as the OP is doing to the artist something he/she is afraid of themselves.

(Anonymous) 2010-06-27 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
Out of all the classes, he seems the most sane so yeah, he would be an awesome dad.

[identity profile] rmarques.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was. So, sorry for high jacking your post with something else...

And yeah, I can see why you'd worry in that case.

... Wait, it's Metal Gear? Huh... Is it wrong that I want to go play the games that came out of the first just because of it mentioning the Portuguese Colonial War? Because I do. *Such a sucker for mentions of his country in foreign media, gah*

Anyway... You have a point. In my experience at least, most of the discussion regarding social issues in Japanese fandoms tends to focus on gender and sexuality, with racial issues being barely mentioned, other than the average moaning about lack of research in things like names and language. Although for what it's worth, I'd say you should go for it. Even if you end up preaching to the choir, at least it'll be talked about, which shouldn't be a bad thing.

[identity profile] aerynvala.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:52 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think you're a freak or weird. Music is awesome and necessary.

[identity profile] snowdarkred.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
OH MY GOD I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL. They are so easily offend it is not even funny.

We tried to do Day of Silence at my school. It wasn't even the first time, but it was the first time our GSA felt comfortable putting advertising on the walls. They made us take all the posters down and said that if anyone participated they would be suspended. Of course, anyone who is in a GSA has to know their rights - if you don't, you get screwed over so hard - so we threatened to raise the biggest fuss the suburban, puritanical tight asses had ever known. They said that they didn't want people to participate because Day of Silence would be 'too disruptive'. (Newsflash: It would be less disruptive if your school wasn't full of dicks.)

Then there was the part where they completely glossed over the Japanese internment camps. And the fact that Oscar Wilde? GAY. The Civil War? TOTES WAS ABOUT TAXES AND ONLY TAXES. *headdesks* This is why I got in trouble so much at that school. I wound up screaming at a football coach/history teacher who's main talking point about WWII was goddamn trenchfoot. Jesus fucking Christ.

/end rant. My god, I'm so glad to be out of there. Fuck you, middle class. You're worse than the trailer park ever was.

(Anonymous) 2010-06-27 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
But OP was not ridiculing it. There is absolutely nothing wrong with pointing out things that are obviously wrong with the art.

[identity profile] caelith.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I think you're kinda missing my point here, so we'll agree to disagree before we start arguing in circles.

(Anonymous) 2010-06-27 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, that would have been awesome! Makes me want to check to see if it's taken in my state. :D

[identity profile] iiiskaaa.livejournal.com 2010-06-27 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Hence this being a secret, presumably.

Look, killer. If I posted secrets about some of my kinky fantasies, I would fully expect some of the people on this comm to be like "Damn, that's fucked up." And I would probably LOL over it. We're all disgusting, and that is wonderful.
