Well, in that case you don't want to try Twilight Princess. Spiders fascinate me, but the ones in TP creep even me out a little. That game's much worse for an arachnophobe than Ocarina of Time.

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Bah you think that's bad? I have arachnophobia but I have a low level necromancer in EQ2 and guess what form the pet takes for low-level necros there? Yup, a giant spider.

Killing spiders is one thing. Having to fight alongside a giant spider is another. *shudder*

#5. I WAS GONNA POST A SECRET ABOUT THAT ARTIST TOO. Except I never did. Glad to know I'm not the only one...

PS: #17 Marry me? :D

(Anonymous) 2007-05-16 08:10 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry No I'm not but the variation in the artistic style along with the extremely strong presence of photo-realistic works just screams out that they are a copy artist. If all the art was consistent, in this photo-realistic quality, I might stay quiet, but given the random inconsistency between stuff that is just too real and other stuff that looks amateurish in comparison, it is painfully obvious that she's nothing more than a light box artist trying to play in the big kid's sandbox. The fact that so few people call her on it is startling. It's hard calling people on these things because it will inevitably cause an internet shit fit complete with defending fans, sock puppets, poop flinging, massive wank fests and grudge retaliation.

The fact that ALL of her "Iruka" pieces look like women, from lips to eyes to overall body structure, only hammers the nail in the coffin. Just look at her gallery. If you didn't know the character and didn't know he was male, you would never be able to peg Iruka going by the face alone.

GLADLY.

You can be my #6. :DDD

2. Ha. I like fangirling, but there's a fine line between squeeing in your journal and you know... the other extreme. Still, I get what you're saying. I wish I could fangirl more openly at times. XD

3. LOLOLOL. CAMERON!!!!!!!! Whoever you are, you win for the day. ♥

5. I wish I knew why Iruka is popular.

8. GRIMMY!!!! I'm just excited he's there. :DDDDDD

11. So is Pepe. Mmm.

18. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH. MARRY ME. SUCKY ART IS NOT ART! IT IS UNIVERSALLY CRAP!

This is coming from someone who considers themselves to be something of an artist...the drawing used as the base for #18 isn't that bad. In fact, it's rather good. Let me point out the reasons why.

1. The medium looks to be charcoal. Charcoal is hard to control with any degree of success--it's smudgy, dirty, and to be able to get such detail with it is an accomplishment, especially since it's usually used as more of a sketchy medium, is a wonderful thing.

2. The cookie-cutter anime style is what may be popular, but coming from someone who's fallen into that style rut, it's a horrible thing to get out of, and it looks practically identical to every thing out there. Art is about the artist's expression, and not being able to exactly copy what's placed in front of them--we have photocopiers for that. Fanart, while based off a character, is also about being able to render that character in the artist's style.

While it's certainly not a perfect drawing, no artist will ever consider their work to be perfect. An artist is their own worst critic. Fortunately, there is also room for improvement.

It doesn't look like Roy (Mustang, I'm assuming), but I kind of like that picture. Especially the awning and the people walking in the background.

I hope the artist doesn't get discouraged. With some work on anatomy/structure, I bet they'd turn out some amazing stuff.

I fucking hate secrets like this. If I think there's room for improvement in an aspect of a fic or art, I leave concrit instead of not saying anything at all to the ficcer/artist and going to try and look cool by leaving mean shit like this on an anon secret comm.

2. 8DDDD AGGGGGREEEEEDDDDDDD. I get so easily excited over the smallest things, and it saddens me when i can never find someone who gets just as excited as me XD SO FANGIRLS ARE THE CURE 8DV

3. I am more the badass woman. I shoot guns, have wild hair, know some sweet martial arts, and will beat the shit out of you--

But I am seriously far from awesome.

Get a fucking grip, OP.

[identity profile] lostremnant.livejournal.com 2007-05-16 01:44 pm (UTC)(link)
3. why on earth resent your own gender when male writers (and let's face it, most writers of anime/manga/video games are MALE) write sucky female characters? I should think you would resent the WRITERS, not your own gender. Besides, there are good female characters out there (and very boring male characters), you just have to keep your eyes open for them.

4. well you're not going to become a writer if you don't write. That's the only way you become one. I write fics but I don't write RP mainly because I'm afraid that if I join one I'll discover that I don't have the time or the motivation or whatever and that would be a disservice to the other role players.

5. That's suppose to be a guy? I mean I like pretty guys but seriously...that's suppose to be a guy?

8. You know, there are so many fics with Grimmjaw that are just out and out smut with no real plot that I'm beginning to dislike the character. Which is a shame because I think there is potential in the character for some really good fics. His loyalty to Aizen is questionable, his hostility to Ulqo...um...Ulqh...ah...oh hell the 4th Espada, you know who I mean, is interesting and you get the definite feeling that he has his own agenda.

10. What series is this?

11. Well I don't know about "hot" but Daffy is definately funny especially his rivalry with Bugs.

12. Masochism?

18. Trainwreck? You have to be kidding. This artwork really isn't bad. Call it a bad LIKENESS of Roy (whoever that is) but don't call it a bad piece of art. I've drawn with charcoal, it's not easy. And I've seen art that were so bad I cringed looking at them. This piece did not make me cringe at all. Sure there's room for improvement but isn't that true with everything?

Art is subjective yakkity smackity whatever. As a piece of fanart made to represent a certain character, it falls short. Sure other people have been saying "It's nice art" or "It looks like mexican folk art" but, it's supposed to be fanart. If you can't pick out the character from the representation the artist presents you with, the fanart fails as fanart, regardless of its quality as art in general.

i probably would have ignored this, but... don't fucking tell someone to stop drawing asdfghjkl; >( everyone starts out crap at everything. just because you don't like it doesn't mean you can decide whether OMG it's good enough!!!!11 like anonymous said ^ up there, leave some concrit and don't bitch. or if you hate it that much, don't look at it. lol.

*rips hair out*

Cleanup on Aisle 18. Cleanup on Aisle 18.

That was a spectacular kneejerk there. The secret doesn't say "Stop drawing bitch!" it says "Stop drawing things that make people cry." I think it's a plea for quality there.

Concrit could help, but it's easy for people to say you should give it. It's harder to buckle down and give it. In this touchy feely pc world, you're just not allowed to say anything that will hurt a delicate artistic soul. People freak out and call troll and start drama and it gets messy and all ends up on fandom wank. Messy business that.

To #3: It's been my experience -- and perhaps I have this opinion because I've been a 'ficcer for too long -- that characters are only as deep and compelling as we wish them to be, no matter what the canon says. Personally, I've always found the female characters to be the more interesting ones, and, no, it's not always because of the sex appeal and my maleness. (I'm not complaining, mind you, but sex appeal is not what one 'fics.)

To #15: I don't know why, but that resonates with me. ... If you're on my FL, and that's about me (which it probably isn't, but I'll go out on a limb here), it's okay, I live far away from just about everybody, and it rather sucks. :-(
