Apparently you don't realize that by doing all of these awful things to your characters, folks are ENJOYING your creations and the world you created for them to be in, etc.

You should feel flattered, honestly. So what if it's not your cup of tea, so what if it's slash, so what if it's "disgusting" porn-- people love what you created, enough to bring it into that side of their personal lives.

I love Tomoyo. I think she might actually be my favorite CCS character, partly I periodically get the same insane urge to make everyone around me cosplay (though I don't have the time or resources to make all the costumes I want to, sadly) and partly because I can relate to her, being as how I am currently sort of in the Tomoyo-slot with the girl I like :/

Interestingly, I never really got this sense when reading the book. The characters seemed part of the tea party, like moving parts of a larger machine. It's really only when I was watching Burton's movie did I think, "Whoa, this is a lot like Sartre's No Exit."

Supposedly, the whole point of the Alice books was to demonstrate the absurdity of new mathematics. Can't really point to specifics with the tea party scene, but parts with the Griffin and the Mock Turtle (you know, the characters that no one ever bothers to include in their adaptations for stupid reasons) definitely have that going on.

I've noticed the majority of Tumblr is in the 12-19 range, with the occasional 20-26 year old. One Doctor Who fan I'm following THERE did a "who was the Doctor when you were born" thing, only to discover she was a Tom Baker among a sea of McCoys, McGanns, and the occasional Colin Baker.

I'm not really in the HP fandom so I'm pretty surprised that Neville/Hermione is a rare pair. They seem to be good friends (which can easily be interpreted as lovers). At least, I remember them spend a lot of time together in the earlier books.

And I agree, there are too many pairings in HP fandom. I ship almost everything.
