I feel you, OP. I don't understand what's so good about it either to leave LJ, and then I even forget about it.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-17 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
But... but Rupert Grint can't end up with a fictional character. It's not actually possible.

... OOOH you meant Ron.

[identity profile] aethre.livejournal.com 2011-03-17 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
P.S. They should have made the bad guys Canadian, because we wouldn't have given a shit about stereotypes, we would've just been happy to be mentioned.

Pfffthahaha so true. Also, agreeing with everything else you said.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-17 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I lol'd irl

[identity profile] hikari87.livejournal.com 2011-03-17 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't actually watch this show, though I own the complete Holmes in one large and rapidly deteriorating cheaply bound volume. but srsly i think ilu

In all fairness, I've heard that that's how "slash" came into use? Idk, I know it had something to do with Star Trek. But yeah, now slash refers to homosexual pairings, usually male ones, where femmeslash is used to refer to lesbian pairings.

I don't like the Hermione/Ron canon relationship at all... I wish Hermione hadn't ended up with someone so immature and I don't really think they would work long term.

I've read fic where Ron is caring and more mature and I can buy that but... JKR really should have developed him more. As far as we see in the epilogue Ron is still as immature as he ever was.

I think the Homestuck hate-on nonnie got mad when we quit giving a fuck about hir and decided to take hir hate-on to the rest of Fandom!Secrets.

Just another way Homestuck fans ruin everything? Who knows?

do you really wish death to me because I enjoy the idea of personified nations while managing to not hurt anyone or pull any stupid shit?

because if so and you're REALLY not a troll, then you're worse than the worst idiotic hetalia fans. Or you're not in your right mind and need help.

I'll not reply any further here.

[identity profile] tamabonotchi.livejournal.com 2011-03-17 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sorry you had to deal with this, OP.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-17 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I always ended up being the Pink Ranger... and I'm a dude. It was fine by me though. :) I was so mad when my voice dropped, and I couldn't get her battle cry(s) right anymore.

[identity profile] shy-nerthuserce.livejournal.com 2011-03-17 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"...if it's going to be a fandom like what I see on here..."

Lol - and here's me thinking Ernie Wise and his "plays what I wrote" was no longer with us... :¬D Still, that's what proof readers/editors are paid to spot, I guess...

Whatever. Boring troll is boring.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-17 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not Mrs. Hudson that bothers me, so much as how they treat her and how it's played off as a joke. Which is really how I feel about most of the female characters.

Re: +100!

[identity profile] checkerblob.livejournal.com 2011-03-17 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
shipping =/= sex. For me, shipping mostly= thinking two characters would be a good/cute/entertaining couple based on their personalities and interactions with each other. I mean, yes, there is a LOT of sex in fanfiction, but oftentimes, it's when the characters are aged up.

You're a Hetalia fan, you have no moral high ground to speak of.

[identity profile] ariseishirou.livejournal.com 2011-03-17 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I love William Gibson too, but TDE is still terrible. I blame Bruce Sterling.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Then don't publish, period. Once you release your work into the world there is no delete button and there is no way to go back in time to change things if your work either isn't received as you would like... or if it's received so well that you get oodles of crazy fans.

[identity profile] ibroketuesday.livejournal.com 2011-03-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
WHAT

WHAT IS THIS

Also, he's way too young.

P.S. NO

[identity profile] gabzillaz.livejournal.com 2011-03-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the Bechdel test thing is a load of bollocks anyway, personally. Why does a work have to have 'strong' female characters in order to be valid?

You can't blame people from complaining at the lack of well developed female characters.

Not saying you can't find it fun, but dismissing the valid complaints of fans who would like to see well developed female characters in a show they like is not exactly fair, is it?

(Anonymous) 2011-03-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I have an issue with Sherlock's characterization that doesn't really have to do with how he treats Mrs. Hudson on it's own. It's more like he's an ass and doesn't get called out on it, except for rare moments (sigh, I'm still sad that the potential from the pilot episode didn't carry over, his character feels really inconsistent to me).

It's more that he mistreats her within the bounds of the show and it's played off as a joke. John doesn't seem to treat her any better either. It's like there are no consequences for being an ass? But that happens a lot in the show.

Not that I don't actually like Sherlock (I thought Benedict was amazing) and I'm hoping they can fix stuff for next series, I just have objections to people saying you should ignore all the issues with the show because if they like it there can be nothing wrong with it? It's such crap.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, how I would love a FFVI remake. In all honesty I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet. I always thought VI was one of the more popular ones...

And I would definitely love more Kefka-Terra interaction and backstory; there is so much potential there. I really enjoyed their interaction and Dissidia and wish it was expanded upon more.

Re: making tea makes bad feminists

(Anonymous) 2011-03-17 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. That's totally what I said.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-17 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Vague comment is vague! And probably missing the point. I am not hating on any of those female characters, I'm hating on how they're treated within the canon.

[identity profile] ibroketuesday.livejournal.com 2011-03-17 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Mark Sheppard is already Crowley!
