Both are pretty messed up, but it seems the people who said the stuff about Pearl Harbor seem to fully realize that they are being insensitive, and it looks like to me (based on the screencaps below) that they are trying to come off as assholish and shocking.
The Hetalia fans mentioned in this secret, though, just seem to be too naive to realize how offensive they are being. They look to me as if they are stuck in their own little fantasy world and aren't even thinking about how insensitive they are being. They just seem to me like they are too ignorant to fully realize what they are doing.

I don't mean to detract from your comment, or the fact that I agree with all of it, but "Jam!" had me in stitches. New!Watson is my favorite.

I don't even want to get into how I feel about Amy Pond (short story: I don't like her), but what I'm interested in discussing is how long Moffat plans on keeping Amy and Rory around. Amy's characterization is going nowhere fast and though I adore Rory, I can easily see any character plotlines he ever had getting stuck now that we've moved past that whole "Amy's choice" thing. I'm afraid of him becoming even more of a third wheel. Also I'd like to see some more experienced actors work with Smith.
I like River and wouldn't mind seeing her get more screentime and scale back a bit on Mr. and Mrs. Pond, but I'd be even more excited about fresh faces.

Regardless of the fact that you mixed up Rupert and Ron, too bad, too sad, anon. Hermione ended up with Ron. The end. Also, Hermione might be smart, but she's not exactly a prize either. Or was I imagining her tendency to be stodgy, abrupt, obstinate and aggressive?

That's some weird, creepy behavior but goddamn do I feel sorry for you. D:
Hope you make some new and better friends that don't ignore you!

The Administration by Manna Francis. Several books out, amazing character development, engaging characters, general awesome. Can also read almost (though not everything) on her website.

Same! I'm not a psychology major, but it's definitely an interest of mine.

dahaha, excellently phrased.

Me, too. Because for some reason, I like the Aerith/Sephiroth pairing even though they had absolutely no romantic interaction. Course, it may just be my love for crack pairings.

*opens door* You are all WEIRDOES. *shuts door*

Pretty confident of you to spite members of a fandom you may never have.

I feel the need to point out that I'm reading all of your comments in the voice of Yes Man from New Vegas. And it's awesome.

She had a well established comic before JW. :) So I think they both brought something to the table. :)

Dude, I'd love for someone to introduce me to Mandopop! I can't guarantee that I'll like it, but I'm definitely curious and I do tend to get fangirly when things hook me.

[identity profile] masked-creator.livejournal.com 2011-03-18 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I seriously don't mean to kill your buzz here, but even if your work is decent, chances are it's going to be barely noticed if at all. There's dozens of good stories out there that literally have no fandom.

If by chance you DO get popular? Don't search for any fan works.

[identity profile] lashiec.livejournal.com 2011-03-18 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, had no idea! But it proves the point even moreso, they both worked at it.

[identity profile] doktordeathray.livejournal.com 2011-03-18 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I shipped Tomoyo/Sakura from like... fourth grade on, honestly. I support Syaoran/Sakura as well, but Tomoyo and Sakura's relationship is just so sweet!
I realized I like girls two years after getting into this anime, so a lot of it does have to do with being able to relate a bit. Honestly, I wonder if they made me more comfortable with my orientation as a kid.

Yeah... guilty. I just want people to fangirl with but I think the fandom must have died awhile ago! I'd hoped the books getting released in hardcopy would stir up the love, but no dice.

It's possibly the best gay-BDSM-mystery-murder-well-developed-characters-etc. blah blah...

...okay, it's the best anything. If I could have gotten away with doing my thesis on this series, I'd have been all over it. But PHD's are.......... snooty.

ALTHOUGH I HAVE NOT EVEN TRIED TO MAKE AN ACCOUNT

BECAUSE HONESTLY A LOT OF THE PEOPLE ON THERE SEEM INCREDIBLY ANNOYING

(Anonymous) 2011-03-18 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
If I watched the episode, I probably would've picked that up. The stereotypes bother the hell out of me too. Alas! But yeah, I get what you mean. If the only gay character in a show turned out to be the bad guy, I'd be pretty leery about it too...

I don't understand why people are trying to excuse it, though. You're (general you, not you-anon) allowed to like Sherlock! It would just be nice if you acknowledged that those segments are racist instead of trying to write them off or justify them. Holy shit, guys? Ignorance sucks and is never justifiable.

[identity profile] masked-creator.livejournal.com 2011-03-18 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yep, agreed. :/

The Administration by Manna Francis. Most of it is online. Has very well-developed characters, and around eight books worth of plot which goes between mystery-plots, romance and I shit you not, awkward family gatherings. It's awesome for anyone into BDSM, and hell, anyone who wants gay fiction for awesome characters, cool stories AND great sex.
