I absolutely hate that assumption, it's so infuriatingly pretentious and the people who spew that tripe are usually incredibly self-absorbed and arrogant. I swear a right lot, ta very much, and I don't do it because I'm base, weak at literacy, or simply ~don't have anything intelligent to contribute, and especially not because I'm too lazy to think of something more eloquent to say, because it really isn't that hard. Believe it or not, some people swear because they god. Damn. Like. To. Swear. Furthermore, many individuals are usually fully capable of not swearing in professional environments where that kind of language is regarded as unacceptable.

I'll give you "crude," though. Of course it's crude; it's profanity. That's kind of the whole appeal.

Maybe because Raising Hope is just so over the top sometimes that people don't know how to react? Or that the show is actually doing most of the stuff on purpose and knows how racy it's being so even if there was wank it would be pushed aside with a "but that's the /premise/"?

I don't know, TBH. I'm just glad that the show is decent and funny and heartwarming and that's it hasn't caused a bunch of drama. I hope it stays that way too. *crosses fingers*
