Re: IMO

I just wonder how the hell someone looked at a vaginal entrance and thought that "slit" would be a great way of describing it.

*and when you read about the woman who is the mascot for the diet

Only one of those strikes me as a real May/December pairing. May/August, maybe, or June/October. (Yeah, I'm being nitpicky, but if there isn't grey hair involved it isn't a real May/December for me.)

Anyway, I've been in a long-term relationship with a seven-year age difference (I'm the older one) and it was kind of a train wreck at the start but it's ended up being a really good thing for both of us. He was over 21 when we started, though. If your friend is emotionally mature and her partner has good intentions (and is also emotionally mature; I know too many 50-year-olds with the emotional maturity of high school juniors), it can work out.

And it's unlikely that you'll be able to change her mind. The guy I just mentioned above was previously in a relationship with a woman older than me, who started out sincere but ended up ruining his credit rating and jerking him around emotionally. I saw it coming when she started isolating him from his friends, and tried to get him to step back; I ended up being the one she refused to let him see (he went along with it because he loved her), and the one who caught him when he finally jumped out of that particular flaming wreck of a relationship. Sometimes that's all you can do.

Collectively? Nah, it's true that there is talent on both sides, but making the good artists easier to find probably skews perception. Also, what I think is that it depends on the fandom- some of them are just more popular in Japan, so I can safely say there's more quality in Japanese Shaman King fanart than Western, but would say other fandoms are about equal in quality.

And lol yeah. I've stumbled upon popular DA artist on Pixiv too. OP can knock themselves out pretending to be Japanase if they really want.

THIS. THIS SO SO HARD.

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
For me, it's the combination of the "u" and the "ss" that make it feel just kind of... slimy, and the "ee" sound at the end, just... augh. It sounds nasty. The word, not the meaning of the word, though honestly the meaning of the term is pretty nasty, too.

There are a lot better words to describe ladyparts, in my opinion.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
sorry but i just love how spiderman is giving that dude a spider-noogie

[identity profile] masked-creator.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Love that song.

TB1

[identity profile] omorka.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
I would read the heck out of that.

[identity profile] deadtree.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
yeah, pixiv is fun just because of the sheer speed with which the artists produce work. I love watching an episode of Tiger & Bunny and knowing that by the time it's over there will be plenty of fan interpretations of whatever Kotetsu says during the next ep preview.

[identity profile] zoey-says.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, same here. I hate wearing the 3D glasses over glasses. It's so awkward. I end up not paying attention to the movie because I'm too distracted trying to keep the stupid things on my face... -_-;;

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Mean people.

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
calm the fuck down, bitch

[identity profile] vethica.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Man, I don't like the word either. I think I'm in the minority in that I'd rather people use the clinical terms.

[identity profile] time-ambassador.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed. Take pixiv for example, like 98% of the art posted there is in an anime style. It gets boring after a while.

[identity profile] zoey-says.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe you can take comfort in the fact that when those boys grow up into men they probably will look the same.

[identity profile] masked-creator.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Holy crap, Mr. Bean secret.

[identity profile] zoey-says.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
You mean it's not? I kinda always thought it was XD

[identity profile] judo-creature.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
... this man is absolutely adorable. I really just enjoy hearing him talk. "I AMDE A THING! 8D"

[identity profile] mondaisenshi.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
Often. Basically, the whole idea behind SJ warrior-ing is to stick up for the minorities and whatnot, seek "Social Justice," call people out on being politically incorrect. The problem is, this is turning into a movement of bullying and nitpicking. There've been about 10 anti-SJ secrets in the past couple weeks... I'm all for it when it's done right, personally, but it so rarely is, nowadays. You can't just pick a fight over every single little joke, you can't encourage intellect and openness by being a narrow-minded dumbass, and you can't make the world a better, safer place through bullying and making good people feel like shit. And really, it's rather frustrating and disappointing when a good cause is taken up by bad representation.

DA

Does Crystal Light have aspartame in it? I know it's hellishly hard to track down in my area, and while it would be perfect for me, I don't want to go to the effort just to find out that I can't drink it.

[identity profile] forever-alone.livejournal.com 2011-06-21 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, I'm envious. I've tried so many times to get my dad to stop using that and several other words, but he's... not exactly the most sensitive person. This is the same man I've had to tell repeatedly to not make rape/assault jokes in front of me. Ugh.

It sounds like the debacle for Jared at Subway a few years back. Total bullshit :/

(Anonymous) 2011-06-21 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
I've never seen a movie in 3D, but that doesn't mean I've never seen anything in 3D before; I know it gives me a headache from the experiences I've had with it. I won't see a 3D movie because if 10 minutes irritates me, 2 hours will drive me insane.

I'm sure your friend trashing 3D may be annoying, but the conclusion your drawing isn't any better.
