As a gay man who was shown this by a friend... I never got the appeal of Starfighter, personally.

I know people make strange faces during sex but EVERY.SINGLE.FACE. during the sex scenes is just so silly looking that each one could be used as a 'DERP' reaction image. I know it's not just me who thinks this either - tried showing it to another friend of mine and he formed the exact same opinion without me saying anything. Sorry, even if the artwork is otherwise beautiful (And it is!) the derpfaces... Can't get over them.

Also, the author would have to decide if the whole "You're my bitch now, porntime forever' shit is the goal of this comic or if the 'Serious, forbidden love with a side of porn' is the target. Without leaning towards one or the other, it just becomes a tropey, annoyingly-typical yaoi comic.

I know it's said that yaoi is 'geared towards women' and therefore I should 'expect to not like it' (Yes people have said this to me before, in defense of the comic!) but that sentiment gives me an 'only women would appreciate this' sort of vibe which feels... vaguely skeevy to me. I've had female friend who don't care for stereotypical yaoi set-ups and I've had gay men who read yaoi actively.

Just my opinion though.

I know it's some people's kink to have that imbalance of power, hell, it's one of MY kinks. But I really wish people wouldn't pretend it was 'herp derp love in bloom!' Yes, it's fiction, but it's a fiction trope that some people think is unlikely to the point of being... stupid.

I also wish people would stop defending this 'rape is love!" shit by saying anyone who criticizes it 'doesn't understand slave/Master' relationships. Um, no. I'm pretty sure anyone who knows anything about IRL, consensual s/M relationships would find this sort of power imbalance to be abusive/not representational of their lifestyle.

Or comparing it to Stockholm Syndrome. I have never seen a porny comic/fiction do the Stockholm Syndrome thing in any researched, interesting manner, possibly because I have never seen a work start out with that angle. It's always tacked on at the end to justify fucked up powerplay.

I found the Secret Country trilogy at Barnes and Noble, actually. I haven't had any luck finding any of her other books outside the library, but Firebird republished the SC books a few years back.

Well, she writes basically for English majors or people who are massively familiar with certain authors/poets, so most people would definitely be bored to tears. I passionately adore her books, but that's because I love the same writers she does, so I get all the references, and also I just liked the characters a lot, I dunno. But not liking it/finding it interesting definitely doesn't make you dumb, just means you don't like her style. I doubt many people do, tbh.

I think it's a very valid opinion.

My main gripe with the comic is the disconnect between plot and porn. As lovely as the author/artist is, she can't seem to make up her mind as to where she wants the comic to go, and it results in a strange mishmash of porn that teases with plots that go nowhere (as of yet, though I'm fairly certain that any plotline present will fall through for more porn). I also have a problem with the consent aspects of the porn and the more stereotypical bits of characterization that we've gotten from all of the characters, but that might just be me.

I don't really have much to say on the sex faces. :P

Fffff, I feel the same way, OP. I wish they would stop fucking and just go on the mission already! I know it's stupid to expect that from a porn comic, but still.

sorry but I don't think you know what "fanon" means, since this happened in something that was actually created by Marvel, and not by fans. Quibble all you want about how it fits into the Marvel canon, but this isn't "fanon."

I agree their part one selves would have made a cute trio but as it is now, Sasuke doesn't deserve their friendship or love at all.

I agree with the above comment that Team 7 is just a thing that can work out in fandom. I used to be a HUGE Team 7 fan but after years of nothing going for them manga-wise and seeing what Sasuke became I pretty much gave up on them as a team let alone as a 3some ship.

The biggest problem is Sasuke of course. In part one he cared about his teammates, but recently and through the majority of the series he doesn't care about them at all and has no second thoughts about trying to kill them. Sasuke is really a fucking idiot if he couldn't tell that Naruto and Sakura cared about him A LOT and now he's just pissing on their feelings and continues to do so. He's a disgusting excuse of a character. I find it hard to believe how much lower a person could get than he already has.

Nothing Sasuke is doing is justifiable at this point. Back when he was after Itachi was at least a little understandable. Ever since he decided to kill everyone in Konoha he became a complete monster. In his warped mind all of Konoha is guilty by association despite the fact that most of them, most important Naruto/Sakura/Rookies probably don't even know what went down nor would they have supported what Konoha elders did. Sasuke can't even fathom that and just wants to kill everything. Then there was Karin, who is not even a part of Konoha, she was HELPING him with his revenge and healing his wounds... however since she got taken hostage she was a burden so he decides to kill her, then when she doesn't die and lies bleeding and defenseless on the ground he tries to finish her off. How can anyone justify any of Sasuke's actions now? That's it, you can't.

I feel sorry for Naruto and Sakura, but at the same time I wish they'd get over him. They spent only a brief amount of time with him which obviously meant nothing to Sasuke. Every time they've seen Sasuke since he left the village he's tried to kill them or tell them to fuck off. They have seen nothing from him that proves that Sasuke is still the one they use to know and therefore no good reason to still go after him. Even worst is that Sasuke is a known criminal and has every intention to kill innocent people and Naruto has the audacity to ask that Konoha and other villages to be bear with it and let him deal with it. Even if Naruto has the magic shonen hero touch the whole situation does not sit right.

For a brief moment I was happy when Sakura decided Sasuke needed to be killed. Then I facepalmed when she couldn't go through with it despite how he almost killed her twice, then double-facepalmed when she decided to ~*~have faith~*~ in him and Naruto while she cheers from the sidelines -_-

Naruto is even worst. Everyone is telling him Sasuke is bad, which he is, it's not a difference in opinion or that they don't know him like he does... it's the truth. Sasuke wants to kill innocent people and has no problem killing people unrelated to his drama if they are in the way. Naruto's reaction seeing Sasuke about to kill Sakura was pretty much 'itz ok cuz ur my BFF deep, deep down'. Fuck that.

So yeah, TL;DR Sasuke is beyond repair and he makes Naruto and Sakura into pathetic doormats. Sasuke needs to die far, far away from either of them. Sakura needs to start concerning herself with other people because Naruto and Sasuke both drag her far down and make her feel like shit. Naruto needs to stop thinking he's Jesus. They are beyond repair dysfunctional together and need to distance themselves.

Dark Visions. :) I enjoyed the series, but not the ending. It was too... happy, for lack of a better word. Everything tidied up soooo nicely and it just annoyed me. My favorite trilogy was The Forbidden Game. :D
