I'd say he's a lot more 'big' and more grizzly than most JRPG heroes, and the fact that (at least in the fourth game) he's self-aware of his sex appeal is fucking awesome.

'Sides, if we're comparing them both based on how generic they are, then technically New!Dante looks like about three quarters of the heroes in the recent wave of teen action/fantasy films.

You're trolling, right? Because most people are having issues with new Dante's looks, not because he doesn't have "character," or doesn't look "Japanese" enough. He just... doesn't look like Dante from DMC. You know, the Dante we've known for four whole games. When you completely flip a design model of an iconic character, you're going to have people be a little miffed about it.

The new game itself, though, I'm holding off judgement until it's out. Same as I do for every game.
