Nah, my main bone of contention is that your argument makes no sense because you can't stop people from shipping whatever they want even if you don't like (unless you have a mind control satellite that you're operating from your basement, and even then with the amount of slash out there it's obviously not very effective). Your poor command of English (bad spelling and chatspeak aren't "slang") is just a minor peripheral annoyance.

order of the phoenix is really special to me for that reason. i've been there. when i was harry's age i felt shut out from my friends, was depressed... it sucks. sometimes you have these uncontrollable bouts of rage. it doesn't make you "emo" or "whiny." it makes you human. and for a kid who has a lot more baggage than your average hormonal, angsty teenager... i'm surprised he managed to get over his anger that quickly.

i love harry, he'll always be my favorite character in the series because as a child who lost a parent and had those confusing emotions, i always found it so easy to relate to him. so i find it really tiresome when people just write off his justified rage and frustration as "annoying" because clearly they have no idea what they're talking about.

Nope. I'm judging them for not making any sense. Someone murdered your entire immediate family and tried to kill you when you were child, which obviously says that this person is fucking crazy if they tried to kill a child, you realize that you have magic powers and can protect yourself and what do you do? Well if you're Harry, you DON'T attempt to learn everything you can so that you can be ready at any time that this person could come for you, even though they attack you your first year at school, and you make fun of your friend for actually wanting to learn.

No one said he had to turn into super-angst boy or woobie (which it can be argued that he does. "MY DAD WAS A BULLY. OMG MY LIFE IS OVER.") but he could at least do the logical thing and study once in a while, especially since he has no idea what knowledge he'll actually need to fight this guy if he ever shows up.

I'm not familiar with these books but I wouldn't want anything I like adapted by Miyazaki. He has this tendency to completely rewrite stories and turn the films into his soapbox. :/ (Either that, or just make the adaptation unrecognizable. With Castle of Caligostro I was like, "okay, this is nice and all, but who is this guy and where's the real Lupin?")

Seriously, the reason I read slash is that I would never want to see live action porn of some of my more questionable fantasies. I go to fanfic BECAUSE I respect real people too much to put them through Stockholm Syndrome/slavery/torture/etc.

I agree completely. It's really sad that people don't care about trauma survivors who act in ways like Harry. I think there's this sense that since he's being mean, he's just being a spoilt brat and also would rather do for himself to cope with his trauma rather than rely on others which means someone can't fix him.

I've seen that trope used countless times in H/D fanfiction. Draco gets to fix Harry after seeing how broken he is and is so touched to the point he acts out of character and is so nice to our broken hero. I'm sure it's a favourite plot device used to pair Harry up with his savior.

Did I try and stop people from shipping? No, I just said it's stupid to ship straight characters OVER AND OVER showing a total disregard for their real personalities.

Do you care about their personality? Oh, then you care about what, according to you, can't be changed (their sexuality which is part of their personality). So why bother with their personality, you obviously have no respect for it as its presented, you just want hot actors to do it in your head.

Even though the local BNF is pimping this writer to the moon, you aren't obligated to read it, much less enjoy it. We all have different tastes. Don't let some odd idea of peer pressure make you think that you have to turn yourself into a taste clone of a BNF to fit in to fandom. Nor do you have to hate all that doesn't appeal to you. Just be yourself, enjoy what you enjoy, and give what you feel comfortable giving.

I like to think people can just be friends, close friends, without any sort of romantic or sexual overtones at all. I wouldn't ship someone with their same-sex best friend if they were both straight, even heterosexual life partners don't get shipped.

I wouldn't ship the one-off gf either since she was clearly a plot device for said episode.

I don't get annoyed when they ship m/m, i just hate it when they get annoying about it. I ship m/m f/f and m/f but yaoi fangirls like to shove it down your throat that only their ship is the proper ship and if you ship anyone else you don't know the fandom. That doesn't even include the fact that they are usually crazy. They blatantly ignore canon and then put anyone who enjoys canon down. And there is the whole "if you don't like this yaoi pairing it's because you are a homophobe" shit. No bitch, i don't like Wincest because they are fucking brothers, not because i'm homophobic.
Basically, ship who you want idgaf, but don't be annoying about it. I hate that.
