Agree. A lot of the time, people who say that about BL manga have only seen a very limited selection because they're not actually that into the genre, and often they've just seen what people spork or poke fun at and think that's what all BL is like. Also "all yaoi manga is crap" has become a new "I've matured and I have grown up tastes now look at how grown up I am" battle cry in fandom.

I don't know about other people, but I get severe secondhand embarrassment when I see someone crying, even when it's on-screen. I saw Shame earlier this week, and when Fassbender's character started to cry at this one scene, I just glanced around nervously at the other people in the theater to avoid looking at the screen. I don't know what it is, but people crying makes me so freaking uncomfortable, which is probably why I'm not partial to weepy characters.

I'm just upset because I think Angel and Santiago have much better onscreen chemistry and watching them together doesn't make me wanna cringe. I'm upset because Lance/Gwen has been my one unwavering OTP since the very beginning, before I even shipped Merlin/Arthur.

Seeing that reduced from "My feelings for you will never fade" to "Yea I kinda liked him a little bit once but I'm so over that" was just a slap in the face, especially when it was to further a canon ship that makes me wanna gouge out my eyes.
