11. Holy hard to read, Batman! I agree, though.

14. If nothing else, Naruto will end someday, which puts it ahead of 90% of Western superhero comics.

21. Bio nerds unite!

#2. "I'm boggled that _[insert series]_ has a fandom! It's lame and not my preferred genre!"

I'm surprised a lot of things have a fandom, actually, but different strokes for different folks, eh?

At least it's not Assy McGee.

Lol, does Assy McGee have a fandom? If it does, I would pay to read their fanfiction.

2. I can understand why you'd think that. I also think that Metalocalypse is fucking metal one of the most entertaining cartoons I've ever seen.

21. I've wondered about genetics in Warcraft, myself. (How is an orc/human hybrid possible when the two species originate from different dimensions? It's like trying to cross a koala with a raccoon, except that those actually evolved on the same planet) I don't think it's even stupid. Just kinda geeky.

04. Yeah, same. Unless they have seen the subbed and all, then I wonder. XD

Christopher Paolini, the author of the Eragon books.

[identity profile] midnightdiddle.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Final Fantasy III, on the DS.

Such a pretty game, and fun, and I love it, but like the secret person said, the final battle is mean.

AHHHH, AHHH, EITO RANGER~~~~~~~ I was just watching the Eito Ranger skit in Heat Up! sdf, jhakghadjg.

AND I THINK I KNOW WHO YOU ARE. And if I'm right, I would like to take 100% of the blame. I am SO GLAD YOU BECAME AN EIGHTER WITH ME. <3 Well, maybe not a full-blown Eighter yet, but you're GETTING THERE. <3 I need to BUY something so I'll feel like a real Eighter.

sdlfikjasldfk TACCHON. 8 -> 1

I would also like to point out the blatant Subassan going on in that picture.

I'm sorry, Eito Rangers release my fangirl spirit in full force.

Waaaah. This comm needs more JE secrets. It's a fandom, and the asian pop secrets comm is... deadish.

1. OMG I FEEL YOUR PAIN. Seriously. I love the game so, so much (and Arc! Arc!), but the final battle is such a bitch.

5. I'm gay for Bridget. I think everyone's gay for Bridget. I think it's impossible to not be gay for Bridget. And I'll be honest, I want to name a daughter Bridget. Someday.

18. I ship it.

[identity profile] dirty-baka.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
3) OOOOO SNIVELY! xD while I'm not into incest of them, I do really like Snively and Robotnik so much. I hate what Archie has done to them so much. I use to draw ton.s and tons of Snively pictures back in the hayday.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-09 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
1: I love this game, too, so much that I've been putting of that last battle for several months. D:

5: EVERYONE IS GAY FOR BRIDGET. :D (It's probably one of my least favorite fighting games ever, though, play-wise.)

7: I'm guessing that's Paolini. I'm so glad I've not seen him anywhere, because I'm afraid that my bottomless pit of hatred would spill from the crap writing to the author (much like LKH D:). WTF HE BECAME A BEST SELLER HOW? The only reason he ever got published in the first place is because his parents ran the fucking publishing house. D: Even like 30 professionals editing the shit out of it couldn't make it not suck. I could hate on that fucking series all day. (HA HA! TL;DR AMIRITE?)

13: Of course they're going to get more attention than you: you are one, and they are many, and if this person doesn't pay attention, god knows we'll get twenty more "fandom-oriented" whines from the rest of them, too. You still talk every day, which is not 'ignoring you', sorry, and if you're this clingy when they're around, no wonder they're backing away -- they need some space to breathe..

WTF is with all these people like "OMG! My friend has a life! They have a lot of friends and actually talk to them sometimes instead of me me me me exclusively!" Okay, I can understand some angst if someone's spending all their time away from you to watch paint dry or something, but seriously, come on; despite your entitlement mentality, it's not all about you, and maybe they need some time away because you're too desperate for attention? Stop being so melodramatic and realize that they don't actually owe you all their waking hours -- they've got other friends, and that's healthy. JESUS.

14. Naruto's got nothing on Transmet, but I think it holds its ground pretty well against a lot of the stuff out in the last years. American purists will hate on it simply for being not-by-the-American-Industry (whereas had Naruto been done by Garth Ennis, would be the Hugest Thing Evar), whereas the manga purists (lulz) will hate on American comics for being by people who speak English and don't cater to the WAI WAI BISHIE fangirl population. If people can't dare to cross the line and maybe even *gasp* enjoy the offerings of both? Fuck 'em. They're missing some great shit.

20. This sounds like someone who came of age in the Gundam Wing fandom. XD I haven't looked for GW fics for probably five years, but back in the day, no story was complete without someone tickling someone's asshole with their 'wet pink tongue', perhaps even mutually. Feltching>Bukkake? Nonononono ew ew ew. They're both disgusting, but at least with Bukkake you don't have to swallow regurgitated assjuice. :X

7. I'm gonna come out and say it: Ergaon's not my kind of series, and even the professionals say it kinda sucks. But I admire Paolini, he obviously worked hard to get where he is today.

(Anonymous) 2007-07-09 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
His parents owned a publishing company. Unlike most authors, who spent months or even years trying to get someone to even take a second glance at their novel, Paolini got his right away because of that.

He did complete two whole novels, yes. Which was hard work. But he didn't grind his fingers to the bone editing, rewriting, making it polished. Mommy and daddy sent it out as soon as he finished it. (Judging by all the contradicitons and errors made in Eragon, I don't think he spent much time planning them either.) It was pure luck that it got big.

Paolini is also a pompous assface due to his sucess. Ask anyone who's seen him at a book signing or whatever, and they'll probably tell you the same thing as I just said. Maybe I would have a shred of respect for him even if he didn't have a hard time finding a publisher (because come on, if you had that chance you'd take it), but I can't excuse his behaviour.

18. Wow, you know... I had never thought of it before, but I would probably do the same thing. That makes me feel kind of crappy. :\

[identity profile] ignitible.livejournal.com 2007-07-09 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
4. I totally ... disagree. :) And this is coming from someone who hates the dubbed with a burning passion. A fan is a fan, even if the version they prefer doesn't agree with me. Just as long as they don't go around acting like they know everything about One Piece solely from watching the dub. Then yeah, I'd see where this is coming from.

5. That's a he?!

6. Ooh. Baby, that is hot.

7. AGREED. FUCK YES. He's all up on himself because his mum and dad got him published. Big deal. If my dad ran a publishing house... no, actually, I wouldn't be published by now, because I have a sense of ethics.

Re: 5, 6, 7

[identity profile] rmarques.livejournal.com 2007-07-10 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
5. Yep, that's a he. xD You see, bridget was born in a village where twin boys were killed because they are believed to be bad luck. So, his parents raised him as a girl. He is now a bounty hunter, to prove that he isn't badluck. Nobody really knows why is he dressed like a nun tough...

Is that the brat who wrote Eragon?
Terrible book.

2. Maybe you missed the memo? Crap shows get cult followings like woah. They're kinda love 'em or hate 'em with not much middle ground.

7. Hmmm. Eragon? Seems to be a pretty wanky topic.

11. Ha ha ha! Don't forget Aru! XP Just because the Japanese can't prounounce the l, doesn't mean the fandom who can should follow suit. They can't pronounce my name right either (my real one) but I don't run around calling myself that. I guess it's a pet peeve of mine as well >_>

12. You can be furry in your own way. You don't have to be like everyone else.

20. ...weird.

This is kind of like how people still like to spell Light's name from Death Note as 'Raito.' Like it makes no sense to me, his name is Ed/Edward, that it. There is no reason to write it how it's pronounced in Japanese, that just dumb. You're not Japanese and you're no pronouncing it like that. Write their names in characters if you want to be like that.

[identity profile] saave.livejournal.com 2007-07-10 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
1. Whoa what games it that. *Lured by the pretty*
14. Well they suck in general for trying to force people/ make them feel bad about their fandom. Screw them, have fun with Naruto.

Metalocalypse is one of the most brilliant shows ever, but the fandom still makes me go like this :\

Because it's already perfect. It doesn't need anything else.

[identity profile] fuckyeah.livejournal.com 2007-07-10 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
21. ...I once asked about the possibility of mpreg. It turns out that if you placed a fertilized egg and it latched onto the abdominal cavity wall, it could happen. It just wouldn't make it past the first few weeks if I remember correctly. :\

[identity profile] twiddledee.livejournal.com 2007-07-10 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Uhhh...A few anatomical/physiological considerations first:

1) How are you going to get it to magically "latch on"? The uterine lining is designed to catch a blastula; the abdomen? Not so much.
2) I'm pretty sure that the fetus would trigger an immune reaction from the guy carrying it.
3) Without hormones, you're not going to be able to sustain the fetus. Uh, regardless, the father still lacks the anatomical structures to sustain the fetus, i.e. placenta, closed circulatory system, etc. (see #1)

[identity profile] powercorrupts.livejournal.com 2007-07-10 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
My opinion on any times fans pronounce or write a character's name incorrect based on the proper, attempted english version basically hinges on whether or not it was the only exposure they had. I understand when people stick to an incorrect version if it was the acceptable term in the fandom for a long period of time - like Raito.

Edo and Aru, however, make no sense to me unless the person actually watched the series raw, with no subs. (Though, by that token, I would understand if they PRONOUNCED the names incorrectly if they did watch subs)

But if you know what the character's name is, and you always heard/read it that way, I really dislike it when people mispronounce or misspell it. It doesn't make you look like you know japanese, it makes you look like you're trying to pretend you do.

To me, at least.

[identity profile] twiddledee.livejournal.com 2007-07-10 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Personally, I write the English names out correctly, but if I'm trying to think of a scene from the anime, I'll think of the characters in their Japanese names. Makes no sense, but it's how they're used in the series, and I just instinctively think of it like that. (Still, if I was talking or writing about the characters themselves, I'd write and say it in English.)

Also, Aru is a really dumb name. Makes me think of an elephant for some reason.
