I don't think it's so bad. I'm really sorry you were in a position where you felt you had no choice but to lie to people in order to receive help, but in the end you did what you had to take care of yourself. And I think a lot of people who donated money for computer parts wouldn't have done so for an abortion, which is really fucking stupid but people are stupid sometimes. Hope you can eventually come clean with any friends involved and that you eventually forgive yourself and are happy and healthy.

Eh, I don't really think it's that stupid of them (and I say this as someone who probably would have been more likely to donate to an abortion fund than a computer fund). Part of the reason some of them probably donated money was because they may have assumed that when her computer part was replaced, then her fan works would come out faster. So they figured they had a stake in it.

So in a way they figured they were paying for fic/etc. I still tend to think humans who would rather donate money to get something out of it rather than to help a friend in a health matter is kind of stupid, but your explanation does add something to the table.

Some of us simply would see that as blood on our hands. Any other health matter, I would be happy to help. But abortion is different for a lot of people and that should be respected, especially if we aren't picketing outside of clinics or shooting doctors. pregnancy isn't synonymous with unhealthy, but it is a health condition, and if you're worried enough about your health to get an abortion, it's a "health matter".

Yes, I know, non-consensual situations exist and so do genuine unforseseen health emergencies, thus why abortion needs to be a thing. But seriously? If babies are out of the question, crossing one's legs makes so much more sense than relying on birth control that's known to be less than perfect and/or having some horrible surgical procedure to kill the kid after the fact.

I'm sure I'll get slammed for saying so, since it's fashionable these days to assume that the right to do whatever we feel like trumps any responsibility we bear for the consequences, but I'm sorry, it's just a biological fact: no sex, no pregnancy, no abortion, no problem.

Yeah, this is kind of my point of view on this... I'm avoiding sex with a man because I know I'm not ready for a baby or even a pregnancy. It's not because I'm repressed or a prude (well, maybe a bit of a prude, but not that much), it's because the consequences are not worth it.

If people want to have sex, that's their choice, but they need to be able to deal with the consequences. Expecting to have consequence free sex is irresponsible at best and delusional and over-entitled at worse.

It's like having a pet: great for you if you have a pet, but you need to have some emergency funds set aside for it. If not, it's your right to have a pet and I'm not taking that away from you, but you shouldn't.
