Sideyeing the fuck out of all of you who think the feelings of some people who might be offended are more important than a woman wanting control over her own body.

(frozen comment)

Same, I honestly couldn't bring myself to give a fuck about ~poor hurt feelings~ of anyone that's anti-choice, to be honest. I hope the OP doesn't let this bother her for too long, nothing good comes out of guilt.

No one is advocating chaining women up for nine months so they're forced to have a baby. They're saying "I'm not going/don' want to pay for it." That's really fucking entitled if you think everybody else should happily pay for somebody else's abortion.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
That's hilarious. I am entitled for wanting women to be allowed autonomy over their own reproductive organs, rather than a bunch of bigoted assholes having the power to tell women what they can and can't do with their own bodies.

DA

That's not the argument at all. They're not stopping her, they're just not supporting/enabling her. Big, but crucial difference there.

Vegans cannot force someone not to eat meat, but they can refuse to pay for someone's steak. Same thing here.

What.

They were coerced into giving money. She lied to people. It doesn't matter if they were for or against abortion.

I'm pro-choice, have had an abortion, and I think OP is a shitty person, because they are a fraud.

Vegans pay taxes which go towards food stamp programs which some people use to by meat.

So yes, vegans are forced to pay for other people's meat.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, and everyone has supported tax programs they don't agree with, that's not the same and you know it.

It still makes you a shitty person to lie to your friends to take their money for something they disagree with.

And a Vegan who donated a dollar to buy someone a new computer and then later found out that the person spent it on non-vegan food because they couldn't have afforded food on their own, and was furious about it would be a pretty shitty person.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 01:56 am (UTC)(link)
Nope, more like they were actively planning on conning the vegan by buying a steak. Yeah, the liar is still a shitty person then.

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 01:58 am (UTC)(link)
Vegans cannot force someone not to eat meat

Actually they can, or they can try really damn hard. If you've ever seen vegan-sponsered kitchens for homeless people in the way I have, the vegans often try to make homeless people eat meatless diets or chew them out for eating meat outside the kitchen, not understanding that the nuitrition needs of homeless people get cannot be met with vegan diets and a strict health regimen. Which homeless people do not have the time or energy or money to follow through on.

You need to understand the needs of the person in question.

/ex homeless anon with bad vegan experiences.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
I am sorry for your experience with them. That's a really horrible abuse of power on their part.

However, in most cases they can't force people to eat meat because they don't have the power to stop them. I think it would still be wrong to deceive a vegan to pay for meat.

If they want to donate to a vegan kitchen that only serves vegan food, that's fine. The problem is when they try to push their agenda onto you (and vice-versa).

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
As said above, OP clearly lives somewhere where abortion is legal. She is allowed to have them. But the right to have an abortion does not mean the right to a free abortion. No one is taking a woman's autonomy away by saying "I'm not paying for your abortion."

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yes you are.

A woman's body shouldn't be used against her will because she can't afford an abortion.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
So why should you use my money against my will to give some random woman an abortion? I really do not understand why some woman who I'll never meet is suddenly more important than my right to use the money I worked hard to earn as I damn well please?

NAYRT

But isn't that a different matter entirely? I think that people who don't want to be pregnant should have access to abortions whether they can afford them or not, but I don't think that they have the right to deceive other people into paying for it for them.

Yeah, you are entitled for thinking MY MONEY should be used for SOMEONE ELSE'S problems. Honestly? I couldn't give less of a fuck if some woman wants an abortion, but she sure as shit isn't doing it with my money. That is MY MONEY. MINE.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
When you give your money to a stranger (which we all are) on the internet, it is no longer your money. It is their money, and they can do whatever they like with their money.

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Which doesn't absolve OP of her asshattery. She's still a terrible person who deceived her 'friends.'

(frozen comment)

(Anonymous) 2012-04-11 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
I never give money to strangers on the Internet anyway, so that point is moot. Because it IS my money, not theirs.

But I definitely wouldn't give money to some stranger on the Internet if she was going to have an abortion with it. Nothing personal, I wouldn't give them money if they wanted a new handbag, computer, or some crack either. I MIGHT give them a bit of money if they needed some for, like, appendicitis surgery, and I knew them well enough but for random shit? Fuck no, I worked hard to get where I am, and I didn't get there by giving people free stuff.

You pay taxes don't you?

That's your money being used for someone else's problems.

What you're objecting to is your money being used for someone else's problems that you don't agree with.

Not the same thing.

There's a reason why it's called a donation. Nobody should feel entitled to pay to fix someone else's computer, either. What's your point?
