It should not be their responsibility to stay calm and educate people on how they're being bigots

Why do you have such a problem with telling someone why you take issue with what they say? Telling someone who is genuinely confused "you're a bigot!" and such without letting them know why just sounds like someone on the verge of a tantrum or someone trying to be a bully.

Such is the way of a SJW, though.

Actually, I do tell them, more often than not. I educate, but I also get pissed off. I call people assholes when they act like assholes. I call bigots bigots. AND I tell them why.

But nobody wants to fucking hear it. I could write a goddamn dissertation on why someone is being a bigot and THEY WILL NOT LISTEN. All they'll do is write a one-line whine about how "omg you called me a naaaaame and got aaaangry you horrible person!"

Sometimes I get fucking fed up with educating people who DO NOT LISTEN EVER because they prefer to be bigoted assholes, yeah.

People are frustrating. People will always be frustrating as hell. That doesn't mean you scream at all of them, especially when it's not going to make a difference. NO ONE wants to listen when you call them an asshole or any other name. So yea, they are going to sit there and whine about being called the name instead of listening. Something that could have been avoided to begin with.

When you are so damn hostile and vile in your 'social justice quest' or whatever, no one is happy. You're angry, they're angry, and everyone sits around and bitches about it. So I don't even see the purpose in calling someone an asshole and telling them to educate themselves if they ask questions. You come off sounding like a loudmouth fool.

People who WANT to be bigots aren't usually going to be the ones asking you to explain the problem.

If you actually try and talk to them and they sit there going 'na na na I won't listen', yea, I can understand freaking out on them a little. But you made it sound like you put more effort into insulting them then trying to do something productive. Which is what SJW do. They want to bully someone or use someone as a punching bag.

That's the whole thing we're talking about here, so when you show up to defend their behavior and their favorite 'I'm not going to educate you at all' ideals, I'm going to think you act like them.

It's funny, kind of, because both Kittybeard's and other-anon's replies are perfectly illustrative of their positions in their argument. You don't even have to closely read what either is saying. The anon defending their right to call people names and get angry is...getting angry, using ALL CAPS, swearing, and has squarely set themselves up as An Opponent Out To Win. Kittybeard advocates patience and politeness, and has patient and polite posts without capslock and swears.

Okay, but don't you think that treating every person who makes a real, imagined, serious, or minor infraction of social justice (according to you) as the same person is EXACTLY what racists, homophobes, and misogynists are doing when they're painting an entire minority with the preconceived stereotypes of one person that they've encountered, seen, or heard about? It's really unfair to automatically not give people a chance just because of your personal experiences with the type of person that you THINK they are. This attitude is exactly the same basis that bigots use to be prejudiced against entire groups of people that they've never even met before.

..No. I'm trying to tell you that it's inappropriate to treat every single person, no matter what the transgression, as though they're the exact same as the worst racist/misogynist/rape apologist/homophobe you've ever seen. Everybody is different and treating everyone the same because you've seen some other asshole (no matter what they did wrong) say or do something comparable in the past is just as bad as those people who judge others based on nothing but their race, gender, or sexuality. i.e. railing on someone for using the word "gyp" even though they didn't know the etymology of the word just because you've seen some racist asshole use it in the past, and then just assuming that this person is also clearly a racist dick for using it.

But do you understand that there is a HUGE difference between a person who willfully calls a PoC the N-word and thinks that they all need to be sterilized and killed, and a person who used the word "gyp" and maybe wasn't aware of its etymology? Do you understand that those two situations warrant very different levels of reactivity, and that responding to a person's genuine ignorance with the same amount of vitrol as the person using the N-word is not just inappropriate, but also unnecessary and mean (especially if the person has apologized)? (Though to be honest, I've only very rarely seen an apology be met with "thank you for apologizing and realizing your mistake" as opposed to "UGH YOU'RE SO FAKE IF YOU REALLY FELT BAD YOU WOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE AND BESIDES SOMETHING IN YOUR FIFTH APOLOGY SOUNDS A LITTLE PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE TO ME, CLEARLY YOU AREN'T SORRY YOU PIECE OF SHIT, I HOPE YOU GET BEAT UP".) Hey! I've got a brilliant idea for a "move" you could use! If they always respond with "you called me a naaaaaaame" why don't you take that option away from them by not calling them a name?? Whoo! Way to take the wind out of their sails! Who could have ever guessed that it might be more effective to educate people than to educate them while calling them assholes and bigots?! Common sense would certainly tell us that everyone's much more likely to listen when they're attacked first to soften them up!

If I don't "call them a name" (more like, "call them on their bigotry," since the most frequent "name-calling" I get accused of is saying things like, "homophobe" or "bigot" or "misogynist"), they find something else to pick at. This I know from experience. "You sound too angry!" (How dare a Good Minority Woman like me ever get angry at the institutionalized -isms and -phobias I have to live with every single day!)
