I realized, suddenly--imageshack. Those images don't last very long before they're removed, with the bandwidth and whatnot, huh?

I already submitted a link for next week...what should I do? Can I actually do anything (I doubt it)? Should I just resubmit it the week after that, using a better hosting site?

Sorry if this is a stupid question.

So, um, why are responses to past secrets being banned now? There's been loads of them before, is it a new thing?

Holy heck! I just read the FAQs, and my secret won't get posted til next week!!! *facepalm* I got all excited (and by excited I mean nervous) and it's not gonna be up til next week...*feels like an idiot for not knowing that* what if I forget about it or something!? (even though I probably won't...) but still. It's ok. I guess. D:. You guys still rock for having a comm like this... I just wish I could get my secret over with. ^^;. And I kinda feel like a whiner for doing the secret to begin with... but it's true. So... yeah. Sorry for taking up you all's time^^;.

Do you delete secrets about loli or shota? I made one; the art isn't objectionable, text just states that I want fic of a particular incest pairing and the art has one of the characters as a child.

When we're submitting secrets on the submissions page, what exactly do you want? Do you want the html for the image or do you want the image itself. And if you want the html, how do I give it to you without it turning into the image?

Is this thread in violation of any rules, or is it just one of the risks you take when you post your secret? http://community.livejournal.com/fandomsecrets/119713.html?thread=30235809&style=mine#t30235809

Any chance of getting more secrets on a secret post? I mean, it's tuesday and we can't post any more until Saturday. What about those BURNING NEEEEEEEEDS to spill our wanky secrets to the world? ;-;

I'm fine with 700 secrets/week in principle, but man, think of the load times. Fifty secrets a day takes forever to load as it is, and I've got a great connection. Would it be possible to impose a file size limit, or decrease the image size limit, or something?

(Anonymous) 2008-01-21 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
I think there should be a photobucket account that can be accessible for any one on fandom!secrets that anyone can use to post secrets on, instead of using 289529 fake accounts.

But I worry about trolls and whoever going into it...

[identity profile] aceofshrubs.livejournal.com 2008-01-23 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I was wondering if you could post the secret spec requirements (n pixels x n pixels, blahblah megs etc.) on the info page? I know you just changed them but can't remember what the new ones are.

[identity profile] threepwillow.livejournal.com 2008-01-24 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
It occurred to me today that a potential solution to the "omfg 100 secrets per post" thing would be just to make two back-to-back posts each day with fifty secrets each. Don't know if this had also occurred to you guys and you'd nixed the idea, or what - or if it'd be a pain in the ass to draw up two posts (although to me, it seems like two 50-secret posts wouldn't take any more effort than one 100-secret post, but whatever). I just felt like it was an option to consider. ♥

[identity profile] shahni.livejournal.com 2008-01-24 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
That is a good idea, though so far we don't have to worry too much about it. But should the secret count really start hitting OVER 9000, uh, I think that's a good option to consider. :3 Thank you for the suggestion.

for the last 4 or 5 days, the fandom secrets page will not load for me. I will see a few pictures, but more than half of them will be broken images. I am using Firefox, but have had simmilar problems with IE and Opera. I have no idea why this is occurring.

[identity profile] khym-chanur.livejournal.com 2008-02-04 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
Has anyone out there made an index of secret posts by fandoms contained in the post? Or made a super-specialized search-engine that searches the "guess the fandom!" thread of each post? Something like that would be nice if you want to look for secrets for fandoms that don't get mentioned very often.

(Not that I'm making a request/demand that anyone implement this, just that if it already exists it should be linked from the FAQ)

OP of 49 here. I asked you guys to not post this.

(Anonymous) 2008-02-10 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
May I ask for some clarification on the personal attacks?

I'm making a secret about an author in my fandom who everybody loves, saying that while mostly everyone loves them, I'm not impressed (I don't like their style, the characters are off, etc.)

Since I'm not saying anything bad about the author, just stating I don't like their writing, would it count as a personal attack? And if it does count, can I just blur out the name so no one knows who I'm talking about?

(And, if I were to add a comment that they are a bit melodramatic, and put a bit too much emphasis on reviews, would that qualify as a personal attack? And again, if it does, can I just blur the name?)

[identity profile] shahni.livejournal.com 2008-02-10 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as there's no flaming, using derogatory wording or insulting, it wont count as a personal attack. It would be best to blur the name as well. But it still needs to be worded appropriately to be considered a secret, of course.

[identity profile] odditypist.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, a question! What are your rules on spoilers? I may have missed it if you have a policy up already, but I know some people don't follow the current Japanese release of a manga or anime series-- if there's spoilers in a secret itself, what are the rules on that?

[identity profile] dejana.livejournal.com 2008-02-11 02:09 pm (UTC)(link)
How is #66 (post #401) not a personal attack? I've never been clear on what the guidelines are regarding those...

how some sometimes i have to refresh the page a zillion times to get the secrets to show up? :/

(Anonymous) 2008-02-24 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Question! If you forget to size down you image and it's posted as "too big", but then you were to size it down and submit it for the next week, would it be counted as a "repeat"?

[identity profile] maewe.livejournal.com 2008-03-01 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I posted my secrets before friending the community by accident, should I repost them ?

[identity profile] colophonic.livejournal.com 2008-03-08 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, um, I actually sent this as a personal message to you but then I realized that you probably wouldn't see it and that's what the suggestions post is for, orz. Haha, sorry for so much instafail. XD

Anyway here's the cp'd message:

Hi! You're probably going "who the hell is this" right now. Yeah, we don't really know each other. DX (sad face because I actually want to know you, you seem interesting!)

Anyway I noticed the number of secrets has swelled a bit (though I'm sure few are complaining). The thing is, I'm pretty sure that a LOT of those secrets aren't really secrets. (See http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/1363/fandomsecretsecretva0.jpg. Also http://dontburnhot.livejournal.com/189939.html, which I stumbled upon randomly.) So! I was thinking: since the appeal of F!S is the pretty graphic format and especially the HUEG audience, why not make a community dedicated to making fandom not!secrets? There could even be sections like "I SHIP IT" and "Advertising small fandoms" and...and...stuff like that :D

Your hands are probably full already with F!S, but as a founder (?) I'd like your opinion on this! I think it would divert the flow of secrets the F!S community receives, because of course the more people who watch it, the more secrets, and the bigger an influx of not!secrets whose posters just want to start a discussion or get opinions and feedback.

Wow. Epic long message. I hope you made it to here D: Just a friendly suggestion from a long-time F!S lurker. :D

Um, Mods?

So, two of my secrets are in this post (#342). AND THAT'S COOL AND ALL BUT there were three other secrets I submitted three OTHER secrets BEFORE those two, and they have not shown up. Not even in the fail!secrets. They weren't personal attacks, either.

[identity profile] shahni.livejournal.com 2008-03-12 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Did you check to see if they weren't broken links?

Numbering secrets.

(Anonymous) 2008-03-16 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Someone brought up how hard it is to look for comments of secrets numbered below 10 today. Can you start numbering or labelling them in a way so that (most of) the comments on all secrets are easier to find? Number 59 and under tend to conflict with timestamps. Even if you added a digit in front, most comments won't include the extra digit.

Hi mods! I just created [livejournal.com profile] politicalsecret in response to all of the political stuff that keeps seeping in. Can the community be a) linked to on the next secret post and b) be called an official affiliate?
