Dude, does anyone want to try to name for me the last time they liked Cyclops? I've always had a bizarre soft spot for him, like I really wanted to like him, but it was often just too difficult.

I guess during the X-men First Class comics. He was great in those.

And, uh, I sort of liked him during the beginning of Ultimate X-men (despite how much the series sucked over all). I didn't read a bunch of issues though.

Not sure if this counts, but I found him much more tolerable in the movies than the comics or the cartoon. Although that probably had something to do with James Marsden.

I liked him back when I read the comics, which was in the 90s. I don't recall any stand out stories focusing on him or anything but I do recall liking him. So I don't know.

I loved Cyclops when I was a kid, but I think that had more to do with the cartoons than comics... I remember reading the comics, but I'm kind of fuzzy on him in them (mostly because I had to borrow them from the boys in my class, and they were all in love with Wolverine so if it wasn't Wolverine-centric they didn't put it in their trapper-keepers).

I always thought he was uninteresting, and a bit of a dork. I didn't like him, as such, but I didn't dislike him either. Even when he cheated on Jean and then made out with Emma on her grave I was pretty meh.

I didn't start actively disliking him until Matt Fraction put him through his patented Fraction Douchebaggifier (tm), and then made him one of the most prominent characters in the series, so his newfound douchery was unavoidable.

Not since X-Factor #1, the old series. You know, the one where he leaves his wife and infant child to see if his old fling might be alive again? Without even telling his wife? Because he and her just had a fight about how Scott needs to be more interested in his family than the X-Men? Because he chose to retire?

First season of X-men: TAS. Other than that, no. And I don't get how anyone could root for him in the AvsX storyline. Not to say that Cap wasn't an asshole, because he was.

Captain America has been an obnoxious, self-righteous asshole ever since he died (except sometimes when written by Brubaker), though. Uh...as far as I know, that is, since I semi-ragequit Marvel comics. If I had ever gotten an inkling that there was another post-Civil War story where he was somewhat likeable, I'd have been all over it (*cough* recs?)

He didn't do anything as bad as Iron Man did in CW, but no that you've made that comparison, imo his attitude was even worse. At least in CW you got the feeling Iron Man was sincerely distressed over the shit he was doing, whereas Cap in AvX was just *so* assured that he was infallible and everyone who disagreed deserved to be judged with contempt that it just got revolting after a while.

Except as far as Marvel is concerned Cap was right from the start and Cyclops should've gone along with his demands. Marvel doesn't see Captain America as being douchey in this event.

Which actually makes it a lot worse in my opinion.
