Everything from Spirited Away.

Also, even though I don't like the show anymore, I still love the background music from the Pokemon anime.

Holy shit, that would have traumatized me. As it is I was Very Upset when I first saw that scene...

OP here: I have done my homework (because I really want to play co-op!) but have an annoying set of tl;dr circumstances that mean I can't play online:

I moved to a foreign country about a year ago, so when it comes to friends back home the 10-hour time difference means I'm awake/have free time when they're asleep/at work and vice versa. The friends I've made here are all really great, but they're either 20/30 years older than me and are decided non-gamers, or my age and decided non-gamers (as in, they've never even owned a console before. I don't think something like DS3 would be the best introduction to gaming those people could have even if I could convince them to give it a try)

Other issues I have are that my home internet is a finicky creature that doesn't always want to connect to my PS3 (and likes to randomly shut itself down when I try), that I'd be playing the US import version of the game whereas - I assume - my PS3 would be trying to connect me to other players playing this country's version of the game (I have no idea if there would be some sort of software compatability issue there, but it's something that's crossed my mind) and while I'm okay on a day-to-day basis in the language of the country where I live I'm nowhere near the point where I'd be able to happily communicate with other people in an online environment in said language, especially since online gamers in this country have a well-known reputation for being very much like the worst parts of the sexist dudebro gamer-culture in the US. Being noticeably foreign, not fluent in their language and female the moment I open my mouth, I really can't see online play going down well.

I know that's a really unusual and specific set of circumstances and that most people aren't going to have those problems, but I'm still a bit sad at the thought that I'm probably going to have to stick with watching Lets Plays after I finish the game to get the full experience, that's all.

OP here: sorry for the cut-and paste from above - I think I should have explained that better in the secret but didn't want to go too tl;dr. Basically I have an annoying set of fairly unusual circumstances that mean I can't play online:

I moved to a foreign country about a year ago, so when it comes to friends back home the 10-hour time difference means I'm awake/have free time when they're asleep/at work and vice versa. The friends I've made here are all really great, but they're either 20/30 years older than me and are decided non-gamers, or my age and decided non-gamers (as in, they've never even owned a console before.

I generally agree with you OP, though I don't think it's inherently *bad* for anyone [regardless of race/creed/orientation/gender/etc] to speak up if someone is using terms that are generally considered offensive. The SJWs do take it too far, and they are as offensive as people who are saying the things that they lecture them over as often as not.

I have a friend who likes BBC Sherlock and she made a face when I said I was digging Elementary so I dropped it. I certainly haven't brought up how much I dislike BBC Sherlock or the people making it with her.

So yeah, I get you. I'm also seriously wishing I got a dollar for every time someone said 'I tried but it's just not BBC Sherlock,' (really, no shit, it's not supposed to be) 'But they made Watson a girl!' (they picked the best person who auditioned for the role and that happened to be Lucy Liu) 'it's not Sherlock, just a police procedural,' (it's an adaptation and a different take on the canon, of course it's not exactly the same as any previous one) and so on. I'd be rich within days.

Of course it's true, there's only one definitive Sherlock Holmes.

Yes, exactly. This is a prime example of a "start slow and go from there" situation for me. Where you end up after that first time (or, hell DURING that first time) will vary significantly, but it's not the time to rush.

Remember, knowledge is power! Ehehehe.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-25 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Oooooh, okay that's why it wasn't connecting for me. I was trying to think of English words that ended in -um and then pluralizing them, and yeah... XD

Thank you kind anon. :)

Yep. exactly. What you can do, how it will feel, how much lube you need, etc. are variables. This is where "go slow" comes from. :-P

Why should it matter to you what someone else's version of canon is?
