Re: why

That was me.

No. Never say never, find a good mentor, practice. >:|

I actually really would have liked Blaine to be bisexual, as it was hinted at with the Rachel thing. But so many people were up in arms because it was somehow taking away the image of a "confident gay man". Sigh.

Those huge dogs are so adorable!! So big and fluffy!
diet_poison: (Karkat - fucking can't)

f!s, can you indulge me in a rant?

Someone in one of my chatrooms used male pronouns with me for the 2938th time without checking my profile to see if I have my gender posted (I do). (I'm female.) This automatically pissed me off and in the ensuing debate I we got around to talking about dating (or something) and apparently how all girls are just looking for a douche bag guy! Like I haven't heard that one before! And other similar stereotypes.

And then to top it off one of the guys tried to use this as ACTUAL SUPPORTING EVIDENCE in the debate.

I had to stop reading because it made me actually angry (more than the somewhat pissed/annoyed I was in the debate)

So many things about that site are gross but right now I'm particularly bothered with these stereotypes attached to women when it comes to dating. If I had a dollar for every guy who's told me he knows better than me what women want...(one of the ones in chat actually said he thought I was a troll when I told him that wasn't what I wanted. Not sure if he was serious or not)

just

grrrrrrrr

Try adjusting your contrast or cleaning your screen.

Re: Favorite musical soundtracks in movies and TV!

I loved the lullaby from El Laberinto Del Fauno. I also loved "Ada Plays," "Love Theme," and "Ruby With The Eyes That Sparkle" from Cold Mountain. I might as well leave the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack as it is. I loved the whole thing. I really loved "Jynweythek Ylow" and " Opus 17" from Marie Antoinette (but I also loved that whole soundtrack, both discs, but the second disc I like more).

TMI

I've... "heard" rimming helps.

(Anonymous) 2012-11-25 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Kirsten Stewart just also happens to be widely considered a poor actress with unnatractive habits like leaving her mouth open. That's not sexist: that's just a common opinion.

I suspect that this "common opinion" you refer to has more to do with mob mentality and plain old jealousy than a fair, actual assessment of her acting abilities. Basically, it's cool to think Kristen Stewart sucks. Twilight is shitty, she's a lucky bitch who doesn't seem nearly thankful enough for her luck, she's not quick to smile inanely and give pat answers to the same old interview questions, and oh, she undeservedly has a costar boyfriend I might call ugly out loud while secretly coveting his charming, affable, and kind of cutely dorky self. But no, that doesn't color my perception of her acting at all. Not one bit.

Cue world's largest eye roll.

I could on here about the way the gossip and entertainment media has done a real number on this girl, but if you're too stupid to get that on your own, then I've already more than wasted my time bothering to type out this comment.

Took the words from my mouth.

But seriously, that part always got to me. What do you say to someone when you know they're not going to be okay?

I mean I'm not upset that they apologized for booby trapping the float but acting like it was ALLLLLLLL their fault? :/

eheheheh....well...I do kinda prefer not to know the content of the episodes until I see them...

(Anonymous) 2012-11-25 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
Just remember someone found her conventionally pretty enough to cast as the lead of a movie series. And Hollywood doesn't exactly have lax standards when it comes to this stuff.

Re: For those who saw the latest episode of MLP:FiM

[personal profile] diet_poison 2012-11-25 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
In that aspect, they really should have had the CMC saying something along those lines, instead of just apologizing and admitting their mistake.

Yes, this. Because if the message is "rise above" then Babs was doing waaaaaaaay worse than the CMC. Yet they brushed her behavior off like it was nbd. That really bothered me.

re: telling an adult: I think it makes sense in the context of the show because AJ and Rarity are obviously trustworthy. And in general telling an adult is a better idea (if you're a child, like the CMC) than trying to handle it on their own, though I can definitely see where you're coming from, as it depends on the adult, and could backfire.

Yeah, the first season was fantastic, but S2 was not so great, and S3 was even worse. I still loved the show though - I need to rewatch it sometime.
diet_poison: (Joltik - adorable)

JOHN WILLIAMS.

Every Star Trek ever.

LOST. And everything else by Michael Giachino. Including Star Trek.

I love James Newton Howard - King Kong, Signs, The Village, Peter Pan.

Doctor Who. Murray Gold is a genius. Love the Gallifrey theme.

Battlestar Galactica. Bear McCreary is a genius, too.

Consider yourself indulged.

Women attracted to shallow douchebags tend to be the female equivalent to those shallow douchebags. So when my guy friend complained about how all the girls he likes only want douchebags I told him it's karma for having the same shitty taste he's bashing his person of interest for having.

This is also the guy who called me an insecure idiot for bring interested in a guy he thought I was too attractive for. Women just can't win with these guys.

I'm torn because I would have just loved more Veronica in general and I thought it might have gotten interesting with the Irish gang plot that was going on but some things where just getting old. The break ups with Logan and Veronica were getting ridiculous. And the show clearly had problems with portraying sexual abuse and continued to do it anyway. Not to mention their crapshoot of feminism. But if they were willing to do something better for Weevil and finally make her dad sheriff I would have rooted for it.

I think KStew is fucking gorgeous, tbh. Mad jelly of your face, OP!

(Anonymous) 2012-11-25 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yes and no.

You do need a shitload of practice, but it has to be the right kind of practice.

If you just draw the same things over and over without learning, you stagnate, because you're just repeating the same mistakes over and over.

You need to learn about perspective, lines of motion, hues balance, colors, how certain lines are used for which situation, anatomy, proportion, etc.

Your best bet is to start drawing simple objects: cubes, spheres, prisms, cones, etc., from different perspectives, with different illuminations and so on, until you get those down path (since those are the basic shapes that make up 3D objects), and then work on textures (wood, fabrics, hair, rock, metals, glass, plastics, etc.), then combine all the things learned until you can convincingly, say, draw a metal sphere, or a wooden box, and so on.

I'm a little iffy on the order here, but basically:

Then you move on to slightly more complex objects (think 'still lives'). Then backgrounds. Plants. Buildings. Mountains. Rocks. Gardens. Then things that actually move, like animals and humans. You need to learn anatomy for both.

Somewhere in-between you keep applying what you learn of color and motion and so on.

You basically need to work your way up. Some people can like, instinctively grasp complex stuff (which is innate talent), but that doesn't mean that you can't learn, even if you're old. You just have to play catch up until you learn those lessons and make them instinct too.

If it's something you really want, then don't give up.

I didn't think the first Toy Story was that amazing (pretty cool, but nothing to write home about), but the second one was just a bundle of fun and emotion and then the third one hit all my buttons. The first one isn't necessarily representative.

ayrt

Nah, but seriously speaking: Talk to her. This is a pretty good test to see how you two can work past -possible- differences in opinion. Use this as a learning experience to further connect with your friend, and so the two of you can learn more facets of each other and hopefully strengthen your relationship.
cloud_riven: Close-up of an open-mouthed piglet! Is it recoiling? Or side-eyeing? Maybe saying, "HEY YOU TWO SHOULD KISS"? Mystery! (eeeeeeehhhhhh)

I love the fanworks a million times better than the actual comic, but I can't tell if you're saying you could make a better gag comic, or that you just wish the source material was something completely different. Even in genre.
