22. You aren't alone. I like stuff like that too, a lot. Soundtracks, cast recordings. That, an world music and classical. I hate rock music. :[

22

[identity profile] cmdr-pinstripes.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
22. ...Wait, so...Live Little Mermaid? Is that what that is? If so? HOLY SHIT. PLEASE, LINK TO THE MUSIC IF YOU CAAAAAAN >_<

And musicals? Pwn. The end.

Yes, that's what it is indeed! There's no official album for it yet.. soon, though. I've heard a few clips. I think it's gonna be good!

Here's the official site for it. (http://disney.go.com/theatre/thelittlemermaid/)
And here's a video from Broadway.com introducing the cast. (http://www.broadway.com/gen/general.aspx?ci=549978)

It's having it's previews right now in Denver (http://www.denvercenter.org/event_calendar/caldetail.cfm?id_production=65062214) and it's starts on Broadway on November 3rd.

Sorry if I'm butting in; just wanted to give you some info.

10.) AAAAH ♥ I hate to be a sap, but I totally get what you're saying. *^* I actually started watching the anime after I had a particularly shitty time, and it cheered me up so fast and got me hooked all at the same time. ( I even met my boyfriend through the fandom! ) So yes, MUCH LOVE FOR GIN-CHAN AND CREW.

27.) lolololol. Just because a person cites those among their favorite shows doesn't mean their sense of humor is completely rubbish. Hell, I love Gintama AND SZS, but I'm also a hueg fan of things like Futurama, Whose Line?, old-school South Park, and Monty Python. It's all in the way it's presented that draws me, really.

[identity profile] xfkirsten.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
22. Freakin' WORD. It makes me feel really isolated from people, because I get so excited over them and no one else I know in RL does. :( (And I'm totally psyched for The Little Mermaid, too!)

14 and 22

(Anonymous) 2007-09-06 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, and YES. I am totally in the same boat

#28

[identity profile] valkyriur.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
#28, it's a lot easier to SAY your one thing or another, but I don't think you can tell until you would happen to meet that person in person. I don't think a lot of the people in fandom are [whatever]-sexual like they claim. *shrugs*

Re: #28

[identity profile] ran-mouri82.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
You've got a good point. It's also easier to have feelings that we don't really want to act on, but we encounter because we're growing up, etc.; we don't mind sharing that confusion online, but what we do IRL can be much different.

And #22

[identity profile] valkyriur.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
#22, it's okay to have taste in music. XD -Unlike the junk they're putting out now. Ooops!- Don't worry about it too much. Like what you like and don't feel alone. :)

[identity profile] ran-mouri82.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
5. Ugh, I feel your pain. Alas and alack, someone DID make a live action Archie. It was a made-for-TV movie from the 80s called Archie: To Riverdale and Back Again. Archie comes back to Riverdale for a reunion after many years, engaged to a yuppie chick, while everyone else is divorced and remarried or some crap like that. At least--if you don't mind a spoiler--they didn't make Archie choose between Betty and Veronica. But IMHO, the movie made you want him with Betty more.

Worst part of all? This observation is NOT based on watching the movie itself, because they made a comic rendition. Of the movie. No lie.

[identity profile] sleeves.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 02:58 am (UTC)(link)

Also, I spend time on the internet because it's fun and I want to, not because LOLOL I FEEL WORTHLESS IRL. I think I'm fucking awesome.

[identity profile] dorknessrising.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
Eactly. I'd be tempted to spend more time off the Net if the people I meet there were even a third as awesome as the ones I know on it.

15. Ain't no shame in avoiding the citrus. *ignores the Ave Q song, "The Internet is for Porn"!* Smut, yaoi, and all of that may seem hugely popular among fans, and in particular, the younger crowd, but do we really know how many are into it, and how many just think it's fun to wave around a "seme" paddle?

I'm not into smut either. So that makes at least two of us! And it's only fair of your f-list to show some consideration toward you, since your interests differ from theirs.

(This kinda applies to #28, too, doesn't it?) ^^*

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
14. At least you recognize it's homophobic.

22. I'm playing Hairspray right now <33 My cousin's besties with Harvey Fierstein, so we got house seats in the original cast production. It was incredible, and I <33 Broadway.

14

[identity profile] author-by-night.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 12:15 pm (UTC)(link)
No, it's not homophobic. Homophobic would be "because I hate gay guys." She just can't see the Harry Potter characters being gay. Do I think it's a bit... harsh to judge? Yes. But homophobia is not something you accuse someone of lightly.

#15 - I definitely agree with you; was thinking of making the same secret, in fact. I'd much rather read a story or some cute character interaction...

15 and 22. Agree x 2! =3

Where are all these fandom lesbians you speak of? Because I have yet to actually meet one other than myself.

Re: 28

[identity profile] kinneas.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 04:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Hi :)

14, 18, 20, 23

[identity profile] mistressofrobin.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
14) I'm like that with Yuugiou. While I got into it my high school freshman year and I was vehemently opposed to yaoi, as I grew up I like it now. It's easy enough to come up with slash for almost anything I've seen since then, but I can't bring myself to slash YGO. I was considerably older when I got into it compared to your age when you got into HP, but it's still the same awkward mentality.
18) But isn't Kanku-kins sexeh with his makeup and shirt off? XD No, but seriously I think I started liking him around the Rescue Sasuke arc and he's become my fave Sand Sib since then (Gaara and Temari feel overrated to me for some reason), but yah. Michael Lindsay voicing him in the dub definitely earned him some brownie points. Even though I've only been watching the Bleach dub sporadically lately, he's the reason I ever got interested in Urahara as well. ^.^;; Before then, he was just an all right character. Yeay for Michael Lindsay love!
20) I'm guilty of that offense as well. I was and in some cases still am like that with a couple of big-name series.
23) Still need to watch the rest of Ouran, but I totally agree. Haruhi is so easy for me to identify with for your same reasons, plus she's so smart yet down to earth. She's an admirable character all around.

[identity profile] zoom-gas.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
5. Isn't there one in the works? I remember hearing this a couple of years ago.
24. YES.

[identity profile] daphhime.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
27) Ooohhh you so did NOT diss Excel Saga! D: Seriously (hehe), if you didn't like the Excel Saga anime, may I recommend the manga? The humor isn't as spastic, Excel's a lot (well...not a lot) more intelligent, it's a touch more serious, and it runs at a (sometimes antagonizonly) slower pace. The only thing that the anime has in common with the manga is the characters and a handful of plotlines.

I'll be the first to admit that Excel Saga is not for everyone. I happen to like slap-stick randomness. Some don't. Doesn't make me have any more or less of a sense of humor.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-06 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
yeah earlier I was thinking "what's the word for obvious humor so that I can then say I hate it and why" but I couldn't come up with the word. Slapstick is definitely what I was looking for though! I just don't enjoy humor that has no subtlety to it, where it's not a "read between the lines" sort of thing, but a "HAY THAR I JUST MADE A (PROBABLY VIOLENT) FUNNY U LAFF NOW K AHURR" sort of thing. This is why I really hate those three shows in particular-they all have such exhaggerated characters it's freaking annoying to watch (this is of course why everyone loves them, go figure). Gintama is the least offensive of the three though, with Excel and Zetsubou tied for #1. XD

[identity profile] colortheory.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
18. ...My godfather's name is Michael Lindsay. He's an attorney in Los Angeles.

23. Sadly, a lot of fandom seems to hate female characters on principle.

[identity profile] jantra.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
o.o That's funny and creepy at the same time.

[identity profile] kyrakitty.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
8. OH MY GOD, WHERE DID YOU GET THAT FANART? I need the original now forever, pleases.

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
23. I love Haruhi. ♥ I felt like I kind of identified with her, as well. :)

[identity profile] callmejude.livejournal.com 2007-09-06 06:44 am (UTC)(link)
14. I was that way until I read the Shoebox project. Probably because SBP isn't particularly smutty or anything. It's pretty innocent and in-character for a slash fic. (Not like I'm pimping it or anything, I know what you mean, really, and I'm not trying to convert you. XD)

(Anonymous) 2007-09-06 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I've read H/D and S/R slash, and some of it's pretty decent. I just can't find myself believing it, because it seems so out of character. :P

It's kind of gratifying to see TeniPuri getting a slightly bigger share of the [livejournal.com profile] fandomsecrets lol!pie. Although I agree/don't disagree with most of the secrets I've seen so far. |3

6. Oh, dear. D: Playing Yuki is a pretty challenging proposition from what I've seen, so perhaps you should cut the player some slack. On the other hand... whores/clingy/artfags ew. :///

9. I... think it's silly to commission for fanthings. I'm in fandom because I love it and because I love to meet other people who love it, and my fandom contributions, measly though they are, are there so that other people can get moar out of their favorite fandom. X3 ♥ Not to say I don't think that it's okay to commission for cosplay costumes/etc., since that makes sense, but... fanworks? :/ Quite aside from intellectual property... why would you do that? I mean I'd probably churn out moar fanwork if I got money off of it, but still... XD

13. I do that sometimes too, but I always feel like I'm wasting paper. :/ ... Then I write fanfic on the backs. XD

14. Ahaha, not that I don't understand what you mean, but. |3 For some reason I like corrupting childhoods. I actually went back to Digimon when I got into slash and like... raided the DaiKen fandom. XDDDDD

16. LOL SO WANKY OHSHI. I just find this funny, because... good for you? XD You could always provide some links and resources and crap instead of lecturing people about how well you're doing if you wanted to do your online community service. >:

20. ... :/ It makes me sad when people say they hate a fandom because of what the fans are doing, because... man, I just love Bleach and its art and its storyline, andand yeah I know it's one of those BIG BAD FANDOMS but I wish moar people would get into it. D|

23. I also wish it didn't have to get to the point where I almost feel ashamed to admit that I... very rarely latch on to female characters. It all really, really depends. I liked Haruhi well enough, but I didn't fangirl her. :/ I guess I just gravitate more naturally to guy characters.

27. I've watched two episodes of Gintama and I WANT MORE. XD Of course, I'm also a complete tard for shounen series (SEE ICON ESP.), so I guess my sense of humor is horrible. O WELL. XDDDDDDD

28. LOL I also like how much of a kerfuffle this one generated. I think the OP was just being curious. I've met a lot of lesbians/bisexuals/transgenders/etc. through the Internet myself; and I just think it's because the Internet/fandom is a more open/comfortable medium. That's all there is to it. :3 Plus it depends where you gravitate in fandom. If you're in the slash portion? Yeah you'll prolly meet a lot of not-quite-straight people. |D

And since I'm tl;dr'in tonight I might as well add my two cents: I'm fine with your sexuality however you want it to be, but can we please stop with the GAY VS. STRAIGHT GREAT DEBATE crap? Homophobia isn't a nice thing to see, but neither is 'omg you're just saying you might be gay/bi/a plant/a pot of salmon becuz it's in fashion, you're not a TRUE SEXUAL DEVIANT'. *facepalms*

I know what you mean... for some reason, I'm okay with slashing Digimon. My favorite pairing is Angemon/Takeru, and I definitely picked up on the Taichi/Yamato subtext the second time around... :P

For whatever reason, though, HP is resistant to that kind of thinking...
