I like the teams equally, but what I find interesting about PoT is that unlike Slam Dunk, Dear Boys, Eyeshield21, and the other sports anime I've seen is that Seigaku IS a powerhouse right from the getgo, and they don't have to endure the scorn and derision from their rivals the way Shohoku, Mizuho, and the Devilbats did. Part of the fun is seeing Seigaku take on Rikkai and Hyotei as equals...wouldn't it be boring and cliche to sit through totallyevil!Atobe and crew versus a bunch of ragtag Seigaku players who had to band together and learn to be a team in order to win?

'Sides, between TeniMyu, CinePuri, the manga, hundreds of anime episodes, OAVs, radio broadcasts, and gobs of merchandise there's enough room in the PoT fandom for everyone. :P

#8 SAUCE PLZ

Can anyone identify the source of that pic, please? I have a hope it'll lead me other non-Jojo series fan art rendered in Araki Hirohiko's style. (It seems it had become a meme because I came across a video montage on Youtube that was brilliant --what I could make out-- but very hard to appreciate because the image proportions were distorted and all out of whack...)

I'm the same exact way. I have GaaNaru fanart on my computer because some of it is really nice, but I just CANT seem to get into it. I like too many other pairings with the two of them.

16. Well, yah see, it really isn't that simple. I would love to go to the movies, library, hiking, camping, and all that jazz, but unfortomently, most of my offline interests cannot be done with some cash, which I do not have. If I had it my way, I'd be going to a gym, have Japanese/Korean/Cantonese classes, and maybe learn how to play the bass, accoustic guitar, or piano. However, since my family can't afford that, and I am a moneyless student, that cannot really be done right now. I also do not have my own vehicle, nor can I drive, for reasons stated above, so, since most charity organizations require those, or are in places in which the public transportation system doesn't goes to, I cannot really join any as off now. So, please, stop assuming things about people you know nothing about, kthnxbi.

18) I must have some sort of puppetmaster/wire user fetish, I swear. As soon as I saw Gaara and Kankuro for the first time, I finally got interested in the fansubs my roommate was watching out of Japan. He explained a little bit about who they were, so I started to watch from their apperance on.

I fell out of the series because of all the filler, and returned to find Shippuden in full swing.

I still love Kankuro. Personally, I think he's hotter -with- the Kabuki-makeup and outfit on. And that evil grin of his. :3 But he's also damn hot when he's playing the protective big brother.

I actually thought he was kinda... less hot without the makeup and outfit. ^^;;;

23. Haruhi's one of the few anime girls that I think I'd actually like to be friends with in real life! She's strong and an individual, WITHOUT being a ~*~martial arts master~*~ or ultra-bitch. And she isn't a weepy flower either. Hey, all kinds of characters are okay in their way. But I can't think of many female characters in anime like her.

I never really thought about it before, since I don't write much fic, but it is a pretty crazy double standard. A commissioned piece is a one-off, not a mass production, so one would think the gray-area guidelines would be the same for both.

Maybe it's just that fanfic falls under greater scrutiny because of publishers? Or because fanfic is so easily reproduced and distributed? (whereas with fanart, distributed images are too low-res for print) Or because of wank? I dunno.

That said, artists taking commissions are usually at the mercy of the commission-er regarding what they draw.

I made a secret along these lines recently too. Believe me, you're not alone.

I've actually been considering making a multifandom community where all tat sex stuff isn't allowed, or at least discouraged. Maybe I should do it, just from these posts here it seems like there'd be a lot of interest.

LOLOL

all tat [sic] sex stuff? how about just saying where sex/porn isn't allowed and not try to giggle your way through it.

Because I'm not trying to giggle my way through it? Jesus christ, I was making a statement about an idea I had, relax.

There are fanfic writers who have gone on to successfully lure readers into reading their works for-pay. You can see their ads up on places like aff.net and such. SAPayne and Juxtapose Fantasy come to mind.

I know writers who won't accept comissions because they only write what they're passionate about. They can't create on demand, and have refused requests to write stories for others.

I'm sure there are plenty of artists who would love to be asked for commissions but who never are. No one is forcing anyone to pay for an artist's work. If the commissioner loves the way an artist creates enough to pay for a unique piece, I don't see why you should care.

I think you missed the intent of the secret. it's not that artists are getting commissions but why are artists given the "get of jail free" card in regards to making money off of commissions for fandom and writers will get torn to shreds if they offer to write for commission.

it's a huge discrepancy in how artists and writers are treated. artists are lauded and given money to draw fanart, writers are shamed and treated like lepers when they offer to do the same, only written.

I've never seen anyone shamed. Just because few folks take them up on their offers doesn't mean they're being shamed. And, as I said, there are many longstanding for-pay fiction sites that seem to be doing quite well. All of these writers began as fanfiction writers, so I don't follow the argument.

A large majority of fan artists wouldn't get commission requests if they offered either. You have to be GOOD to make money off your creations.

21 - I like her.

I just wish I could write something about her that someone else hasn't said already.

HELL FUCKING YES ♥ Kat's AU!Li is kickass. I would hop in his pants - Oh wait, my character already has. Ahem.

Snarlyshipping FTW ♥

I'm late to the party, what the hell

14. I don't think that makes you homophobic, I think it just makes you attached to your childhood joys. A lot of people feel uncomfortable slashing/sexualizing/changing something that was important to them when they were younger, just like for some people it feels really weird to think about your childhood friends having sex =P.

28. If that's really true ... WHY CAN'T I FIND ANY DECENT YURI FOR THE LIFE OF ME?! ;_;

I don't participate regularly in fandom, but I scour the internets for good fanfic on a near daily basis, and maybe find a good fic like once every 2 months. =P

I hear about yaoi fangirls all the time ... where are the yuri fangirls?? ;_; Maybe they only exist in Utena fandom, and seriously ... sometimes I feel like all great Utena fic is dead.
