1. lol, I loved those books.

4. orz I'm too late, I can't see this one. D8

11. Now I've got to see this and not sleep too fjdl curiosity. *goes back a page or two to find link*

17. Eh, to each their own. (Personally though, I prefer prose and then the focus is on writing, rather than dialogue. Or however it goes in those. o.O Keep looking, maybe you'll find one good for you.)

31. I know how you feel. Hisoka/Tsuzuki is my OTP (one of my most serious OTPs ever), but there's just something about Hisoka having hot sex with Watari that can just turn me on like no other. Or Hisoka and Tatsumi.

But I guess the difference between you and I is that I don't fantisize myself in the body of the character that's having TEH HAWT SMEX with someone else. I like watching from a 3rd person view (does that make me a little bit less or little bit more of a pervert than you? :P)

And also, EdAl is another one of my OTPs. They don't have to be in a romantic relationship for me... they just need to be together. If Ed is coupled with Winry in a fanfic, that's cool with me, but the main focus in the fanfic has to be the dualism with Ed and Al. I cannot see any closer duo than those two in FMA.

I'm most freaked out that I swap between female Ed and male Ed honestly. o.o and WTF I dn't even like Roy so it makes no sense. I dont' read Ed paired with anyone else, but Al. I ALSO FEEL LIKE I'M BETRAYING AL BY DOING THIS. LIKE I'M ACTUALLY ED.

AND WTFF I HAD TO SHORTEN THAT SECRET TO MAKE IT THAT LONG. It's just not right the things I think about.

I always fantasize with me as one fo the characters. okay. no matter who's more perverted I'm way more of a freak ><

Elricest OTP FTW - even platonic.

17) People have already explained the merit of both dialog and prose RPGs better than I can. I think, if done right, they're both effective styles of writing and characterization; they each just focus more on one aspect of good writing. Dialog style helps you to better grasp the voice of your character, while prose, despite its bits of dialog, help you characterize through thought, action, and mannerism. Done poorly, then I can understand your grievances.
But I have to ask. What do thread RPGs disintegrating into inane one-liners have to do with those same games having lazily maintained Taken Characters lists? Those are two separate issues, and the way you put it makes it seem that because thread-based RPGs eventually water down into comment wars, their character lists are poorly maintained. I think that sort of issue has more to do with how well the game mods keep up with their games and information, and introducing a whole new issue isn't doing anything to help support the original point.
19) I agree with you up to "My secret?" Yeah, I still hate the guy's guts, and I honestly believe part of the reason why Part II seems weaker than Part I is because it focuses too much on him now. :\

Having played in both styles of RP, I have to say that honestly, LJ is not very well-suited to prose-style RPing much of the time. It's usually games that take place on BBS/messageboards with flat threads rather than branching threading that seems far more conducive to prose. I've seen it done both ways on both, really, and the majority of the time forums seem to lean towards prose while LJ RP goes for more dialogue/interaction-based play.

The idiots and bad RPers are everywhere, though, regardless of style or forum. Oh, and coming from someone who admin'd more than one message board-based RP before? I've generally seen better character development in the LJ stuff regardless of the overall RP quality, even if the forum prose sometimes allowed for plots to be accelerated more quickly and obviously.

10. BAHA. I seriously thought of that, too.

29. Adding to the trainwreck syndromers crying 'link plz'!

17. THANK YOU. The level of stupidity in a lot of roleplay bewilders me. My group doesn't do that, and until your post, I secretly wondered if it was us doing something wrong.

Commentwar RP is unwieldy, in my opinion.

(Anonymous) 2007-09-08 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I, too, wondered. I questioned why my RPG seemed to flop. It seems it is because they require narrative style warring, and not commentwar... whatever it is. Nobody wants to put effort forth anymoreeee.

No. 21: yes, because it's so much more feminist to prefer fic where women are nearly only written as disgusting bitches that men hate, or are simply not there. I'm proud of you!

No. 29: I am glad I've never heard of this fic. Tell the author you hate it, the worst that can happen is getting flamed for a week.

No. 32: I don't know if you're serious, but that was unexpected. :)

11) I'm confused now that I have read it. How were the holes formed/who formed them? Why did the people need to get in, and why did they keep pushing when the tunnel deformed instead of going back out? It doesn't seem that scary to me. The last picture really freaked me out though...

Re: Also

[identity profile] retsuko.livejournal.com 2007-09-08 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I was wondering the same thing. It's a great creepy story and the last panel is a little freakish, but I don't get the main thrust of the story. I get the feeling that people felt overwhelmingly compelled to go into their holes, to find what was at the back of them, that they were forced to fit into molds that changed who they were (literally.) As for who built them, who knows? I think there's some commentary about modern Japanese society in this story, for sure.

Re: 21

Because it's not like men in yaoi are ever portrayed as fragile, dependent, men-needy fuckholes. And there are no strong female characters in shounen series. Like, ever. Riza Hawkeye, Winry Rockbell, Nami, Nico Robin, Tsunade, Android 18, Yoruichi, Soi Fong... Fragile, weepy, men-needy fuckholes. The lot of 'em.

Plz to get your thinly-veiled misogyny out of my hot boysex, thx.

HOLY SHIT THE BAILEY SCHOOL KIDS! That series got me into reading. No joke.

'Aliens Don't Wear Braces' was my favorite.

17. I don't like comment wars for the opposite reason of everyone else: I don't have the attention span for them. xDDD

Seriously, it's too much work for me to keep replying to everyone instantly and then there's usually more than one person to talk to and I have to drop whatever else I'm doing to focus on that one thread.

At least with prose, I can take a goddamn break every 5 minutes or something. DX I dunno, more power to the people who find them fun, but I dunno how they do it. I just can't keep up.

3. Actually, they need to have sex with each other. You could totally watch, though.

21. Children watch it. Like that means something? LoL.

28. I still adore Johnny, but it's true that British actors > American actors.

32. I never really thought of that, but I totally wanted femmeslash for Tracy and Penny after watching the movie. I also want some kind of dirty Amber smut, for some reason.

My friends made it into a joke too.

Everything that artist does scares the fucking shit out of me.

Secretly I think they joke about it because they didn't want to admit it scared them :D

I prefer Ivan/Alyosha, but love you for posting about the overall gayness that is Alyoshenka. I more or less figure everyone in that novel wants to fuck and corrupt him. Yay.
