I judge people who wear pajamas to the grocery store, so wearing cosplay gear to the store seems like something appropriately judge-worthy to me.

I say I judge people who wear pajamas in public. But really I'm jealous.

yeah I feel that way sometimes too... I talk with disdain about coworkers who wear track pants all the time but sometimes I wonder if I wouldn't mind so much if track pants didn't look horrible on me.

Pajamas in public are one of my exception to my "live and let live, as long as they're not bothering anyone" policy. Unless its early in the day or late at night. Five o'clock on a Sunday am you can't be arsed to put on real clothes to go to Target? Those people sicken me.

I'd think 5 o'clock on Sunday morning would count as 'early morning' or 'late night'....

Some people work nights, you know. And some people would love to be able to be arsed to put on "real clothes" to go grocery shopping, but they're running low on spoons in the non-appropriated sense of the word and it's clothes or food, and since people are not obligated to look pretty in your eyes, well ...

LOL. And here I thought my sister was a weirdo for complaining about me. I don't get why wearing comfortable clothing is such a faux pas.

I don't wear pajamas out but some people have families and jobs and other concerns then impressing people at a fucking store so they will wear pajamas or sweats when running chores.

My sister is a good example of this, she has extremely nice clothes and is in general a better dresser then I am, but when she needs to run to the store to get milk and has 3 kids waiting for her- she will be in sweats.

Sweats (or yoga pants) aren't pajamas.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
IMO, sweats are one thing - I've gone to places in sweats when I don't feel like spending the extra 10 seconds wrestling with my jeans. But if you're wearing like Hello Kitty-printed fleece bottoms, I'm raising my eyebrow. I try not to judge, but it's one of those things that's been drilled into my head since I was small that it's sloppy, so all I can think is that they give absolutely no fucks about their appearance, and I'm not sure whether to be annoyed or sad. I know there's no logical reason that they should give any fucks about it, but it's hard to get rid of that stigma when most of society generally follows it :/

Oh dude you should totally give in and wear pajamas to the grocery store. So comfy cozy it makes grocery shopping so much more bearable. When I used to live next door to the store I'd also occasionally wear my slippers. Best ever. (Note: I was washed and clean and everything, just in lazy comfy pjs.)

I've never understood why this bothers people. It's not like pajamas are indecent? I don't understand why people feel strongly about other people wearing PJs out or even really notice. Like, what species of annoyance is it?

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 12:54 am (UTC)(link)
I guess because people think they've slept in them, so they're dirty? Idk

I usually only notice it when they're wearing like Tweety bird (or some cartoon character) fleece bottoms with fuzzy slippers. This happens around here more often than it should.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-12 11:35 pm (UTC)(link)
...the hell? Where do you live that people go to the store in their pajamas? Here the security would be having a chat with them in no time, not to mention having other people assume that they need to call an ambulance for the poor confused person.

This nation of mine being slushy all the damn time is probably the only thing keeping me from slumming it up wherever. And wanting to look cool. And be warm.

and not have to keep pulling my pants up over my ass

Otherwise I would totally wear pjs.

Whoops.

I judge. Just can't help it. It looks so slobby. Especially if the hems drag on the filthy, filthy ground. And then they go home and curl up on the couch/in bed with those filthy hems?

Just no.

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I judge anyone who wears sweats or workout clothes everywhere. It seems to be considered okay for guys to just not pay any attention to how they're dressed for everyday things, and I think it's becoming more common for girls to walk around in over-sized sweatpants or yoga pants.

Also leggings as pants. There are very few girls who actually look good in them, and I don't imagine they're very comfortable.

Heeee. You sound like my husband. He has finally broken me of wearing pajamas out on quick errands. Mostly. LOL

(Anonymous) 2013-03-13 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
I completely agree. If you can't take the two minutes it requires to throw on jeans and a t-shirt, then yeah I think you're a lazy slob.

I honestly thinks it depends on the type of pajamas. I have maybe done this once in my life at like 5am when I was sick, so please don't think this is me making excuses for myself... but some pajamas pants are really nice and if paired with a regular daytime tee shirt and nice sneakers... and if your hair is arranged in a nice way and you look otherwise well composed... well, I think that's okay? Or rather, lol, I probably wouldn't even notice. I sort of assume that a lot more people go out in pjs than would admit it, it's just that they wear the kind of pjs that look more like relaxed day wear so it's more of an incognito thing than an "complete indifference to propriety" thing.

If someone were wearing an old-fashioned nightie and slippers, though...
