Aww, I know that feeling. *hug* I disappeared from a forum I used to post to because of that same thing. It really sucks. Don't feel obligated to keep up friendships that drain you. While I'm sure your friends care more about you than it seems, taking a break might help recharge your mental batteries. Whether or not you decide to reappear later is up to you.

I can't exactly remember this one, but go to google maps (if you can access them), write down an address and then let google search for it. I think you can access the internet like that.

I feel your pain, anon. I'm taking a break as well--not exactly for the same reasons but I can still relate.

Has anyone besides me had ideas for fic that were doomed from the start? As in, you could see the wank coming a mile away even though you knew you would be wiling to work to nail the characterization/plot/tone/etc.? (My latest one of these may involve the new Star Trek movie, and I think that's all I should probably say about it.)

idk about those two particular ships. It kind of puzzles me too. But I can imagine circumstances in which I'd understand it: Character A was responsible for the death of Character B's loved one, but it was unintentional or legitimately unavoidable for whatever reason, and Characters A and B get to know each other (or were already involved) and eventually Character B forgives Character A.

It's never gotten better. Sorry. Wish I had some encouraging hope for the future to give you, but in my experience, once you're done... you're done. There's no getting it back.

I'm with you OP. I don't have a weak stomach, but it seems like a cheap way to shock the audience. It makes me not want to watch the movie again or continue with a tv series.

What I hate is lately I've seen more dislocations and breaks on tv. Not just the sounds, which is cringe worthy enough, but seeing it. I just about gave up on So You Think You Can Dance after they showed a dancer dislocating her knee. WTF! And they showed it 3 times, once in slo-motion. It was horrible.

I wouldn't give up hope. I think there's a trend right now with tying up loose ends on cult tv shows that were cancelled suddenly. Like with the Veronica Mars movie being made and the Arrested Development series finally out. The creator would have to be out of their mind to ignore it.

For tips, if you're paranoid about downloading anything (not just porn) get a VPN. They're cheap now that there's higher demand for them. About $5-9 USD per month, usually around $60 for a year. It's worth it for the encrypted anonymity. But make sure the service you use publicly says they don't keep logs.

They won't come to DW if Tumblr gets run into the ground. Most likely they'll turn to something like Reddit or Reddit itself. Journal sites like DW and LJ aren't efficient enough and they look horrible on phones.

I'm a bit disappointed that he went with the "tom boy=lesbian" cliché. If Annie turns out to be one as well, I think I'm going to silently pass on this comic.

I don't know, I'm not seeing it as being as simple as 'tomboy = lesbian'. This is something that's been building with Kat since... well, in a direct way since Faraway Morning, but even in an indirect way as early as this page (http://gunnerkrigg.com/?p=111) of Of Old And New. And Kat WAS actually presenting as more feminine there - she had slightly longer hair, and almost exclusively wore her school uniform and its skirt. (Note Kat's almost luminescent blushing!)

Er, plus, I'm not entirely sure Kat's a lesbian. Quite possibly queer in some way, but possibly being attracted to girls doesn't actually invalidate her past relationship with Aly, or her crush on Eglamore. She's most likely bi. (Also, Annie DID dream about Jones, naked, in a rather similar scenario to Kamlen. She could well be bi without it being SUDDENLY, QUEER.)

this is why I have google chrome and can use their option to sign on seperate browser windows as a 'new user'. I can fire it up and be anon all I like while still staying signed in for main fannish activities in another browser window.
