Even if you played games only for the attention (and you're clearly saying you enjoy the games themselves, outside of that), it wouldn't be hurting anyone. (If it was just for the attention I wouldn't really get it because I'm sure there are less time consuming ways to go about that, but...whatever. There's no reason to call the OP names.)

Most people like a little attention now and then; it doesn't make you a bad person.

Why are some fans so strange about people getting in to things for other reasons then it looked cool. I mean really even if you did it for attention or because you wanted to talk to your crush about it or you wanted to talk to a friend about something it doesn't really matter. As long as you enjoy yourself who cares.

Geez, what games are you playing? Most of the time either people don't care [which is awesome] or it ends up being 'Show me your boobz fine wench!!1!'*, or if I'm particularly unlucky a 'ZOMG, A GIRL IN OUR GAME! QUICK, KILL IT!' reaction.

I don't think enjoying attention's necessarily a bad thing. I don't even like being in the spotlight at all and I like positive attention once in a while. Really, if anything, the blame lies in people putting "girl gamers" on a pedestal.

I wish I enjoyed the attention. I have to not do any voice in games or be as active as I want to be from the copious amounts of threats, harassment, and just general asshatery I've gotten from it coming out that I'm female. It'd be nicer if there was an even playing field and neither side had to deal with it, but I can't begrudge you if you like it.

If it doesn't creep you out then there's nothing wrong with it. There's nothing wrong with enjoying the attention, either way!

The whole problem is just that a lot of boys and men assume that women owe them their attention and affection, and then get angry when they get rejected, or even just simply don't get reciprocation.

But like, if you're fine with it, just enjoy the easy boost. It can be really nice, and you deserve to feel good about yourself.
