Hi, OP!

[personal profile] seventh_seal 2013-10-04 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
You are consumed by envy, bitterness and self-pity. It's not about that woman, it's about your inability to cope with the fact that life's not fair. Get over yourself.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
And so is everyone who continually harasses her.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
Turn that frown upside down! You need to stop letting circlejerk asswipes bother you so much.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
What are you, like, the emminece on who is or isn't a writer? like, are you god?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Because it's Cassie Clare and as you said yourself "she's a bully", so she deserves it.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
Does that stick up your arse hurt?

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
I'm one of those painfully introverted people too, but I don't think shyness can excuse the lack of thank yous, not offering to pay your own way for some things or at least putting on a good show to let your host know you appreciate all their efforts. That sounds like plain old being an ill-mannered lout to me.

Although I'm not in the fandom, written accents for characters can be annoying and unsuited to the tone of a fic.

"I've been raised that, generally speaking, if someone invites me somewhere, they pay for it. Conversely, if I invite someone to do something, I pay. The OP didn't address who invited whom though, so who knows what went down."

That's fine for one-off occasions, like inviting someone out to lunch or to the movies. But when you're someone's houseguest (even if they invited you!) it's outrageous to not bring your friend a present, take them out to dinner, etc. as a thank you. It's polite to make an offer to help defray costs of gas, tickets, stuff like that... even if you think they'll decline. Letting them plan and pay for everything for the entire stay is inexcusable.

They ooze class from every orifice.

Re: How are you currently spoiling yourself? (Nonfandom, food, drink.)

[personal profile] forgottenjester 2013-10-04 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
That's good to hear then.

Yeah! My thoughts exactly.

Finishing the occasional piece of writing is a pretty minimal standard, OP.

+1

I had a similar reaction to a commercial for a new reality show where one of the cast members has fibromyalgia. It's not something that I've ever seen portrayed in media outside Lyrica commercials, which all feature middle-aged women; the person on the reality show looked young, like me.

I met someone like this through National Novel Writing Month events in my area. She would hit 50k halfway through the month. Anyway, we were both part of a social group that tried to get together during the rest of the year for editing and critiquing each other's work. It was only then that I realized what dreck she was churning out. It was painful. Not only was she a terrible writer, but she refused to accept that her work was anything other than a perfectly polished jewel.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Not really the same thing, IMO. You're not asking someone who's bipolar not to feel emotions, but to make an effort to keep them in check so far as not treating other people like shit? That's perfectly reasonable. If a person knows that their condition makes it difficult to be around other people, then a host should be told that in advance, and every effort should be made to say, hey, I know that sometimes I come across as difficult but I really do appreciate everything you've done, etc. etc.

Also, there's no mental health issue that forces you to mooch off others when you have the money to pay your own way. Having social anxiety disorder or a mental health issue is not an excuse to behave like an asshole.

Ugly words, but true ones.

Re: WTNV

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
That is the single most atrocious Cecil design I've ever seen.

Re: Color Test

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
16 but eh. I already knew I have trouble telling really close hues apart [which is a bit of a problem when the family business deals in a sort of art. : /]

I got an 18.

Apparently I have a lot of difficulty with the space right between green and blue.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, no--plenty of us have been in fandom since the days of HP4GU and remember her just fine.

It's just that except for a handful of really obsessed people like you, most of us have moved on since then.

Google's your friend, anon. The main reason why people don't want to explain it all for you is because 1) it's old wank and 2) it's old wank extensively documented on the internets for anyone who takes five seconds to Google to find.

(Anonymous) 2013-10-04 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god. Best convo ever. I love you both so much right now.
