Seriously, though, I don't think judging a person's intellect based on his or her GL preference is cool. That said, my experiences with Hal and Kyle fans seem to have been the opposite of yours - but that doesn't mean I assume Hal fans are going to be dumber than Kyle fans in general. And you might be surprised how many people genuinely love the old JSA crew.

Well, my impression is that while there are a lot of Phoenix/Edgeworth fangirls, there's been sort of a backlash against it, such that the fandom opinion is now "anyone who likes Phoenix/Edgeworth is an idiotic yaoi fangirl and all the sane, cool people 'ship alternative pairings." Which isn't to say there aren't still a lot of fanworks for it, just that there's a certain "brainless fangirl" stigma attached to it.

Then again, I'm not deeply into the PW fandom, so you can take all that with a grain of salt.

The reverse thing happened with me and Rossiu, because he got so much more interesting and replaced Viral as my favorite character. There is dislike of a popular pairing, which is totally fine, and then there is attaching a stigma of brainless, airheaded fantard to everyone sans maybe croik who happens to enjoy the primary pairing of a series.
