28. Just because she is asexual doesn't necessarily mean she doesn't want a relationship (unless she uhhh has expressly said that). Ask her if she has a 'romance drive'; there are a lot of asexuals who are in relationships/date people. And even if she doesn't want a romantic relationship, just be happy that you have a friend that you have so much in common with. :)

(Anonymous) 2007-10-21 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
if she uses that retarded excuse to keep someone pushed back it's not because she's interested in 'just dating' or she would have most likely gotten to know the person. it sounds like she just used "SORRY LOL I'M ASEXUAL" as an excuse to not hook up instead of having the backbone to just say no.

2. I'm always so confused by people who say that their friends will FREAK if they find out they ship whatever pairing. If your friends really care that much... that's kind of weird. And by "kind of" I mean "really."

7. I think it's because Kouga Yun draws them in poses like that so much that fans figure that they don't need fanart to get their fix, they can just use canon images. Then again, Loveless fandom in general is not so much with the fanart. Fic, yeah, but not too much art comes out of it.

9. ...hot.

16. I absolutely love this secret and the image you used for it.

28. Maybe because... they consider themselves asexual?

[identity profile] savioto.livejournal.com 2007-10-21 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
10. What makes you so sure? Maybe someday you will...

21. GOD I KNOW. One of the reactions from someone on my flist was "I always thought he liked Harry in more of a sexual way" and I was like "afjldkjfsfj NO"

[identity profile] haro.livejournal.com 2007-10-21 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
17- I'm errr... surprised by this secret. That's one of the biggest SHARK JUMPING moments to date in this manga. Sesshoumaru doesn't deserve to get back the arm he lost attempting to murder his own brother, especially since he still treats said brother so poorly. Plus it made no sense. The arm literally came out of nowhere and it wasn't at all explained. I'm still so peeved at Takahashi. Seriously, wtf?

5. I hate that for you. It sucks to have it happen.

7. Could it be that it has a reputation of being shotacon and that the current environment on LiveJournal doesn't support any fandom for it?

9. What is rule 75?

15. Write it. They're dead. Who could possibly be upset by it and does it really matter?

16. LOLOL, me too, on both counts.

21. Just like her epilogue, it feels revisionist and tacked on.

24. Too bad you feel the need to uphold the cuntastic stereotype of elitist canon whores instead of being who you are.

You ask "Why would we stay in this fandom if EVERYTHING silly about it pissed us off?"

Well? Why do you stay in a fandom and PRETEND everything silly pisses you off just to uphold some retarded reputation?

28. Because a lot of them are afraid of their sexuality. Or the ones they could hook up with don't meet their impossibly distorted expectations.

6- Like I said in another comment... I haven't watched much of the Tennant series, but that would be an amazing crossover (and I wonder how he'd interact with Eccleston/Baker). I'D WATCH IT!

9- Whee transgender? That female Barret is sexy.

11- Aw, I liked Viral after timeskip. If only because his Dreamworld sequence in 26 made me "D:" and sort of really appreciate his motivations. It's my second favorite scene in the entire series, I think.

13- Not Radu, but Catalina was my first schoolboy TV crush. (When you think about it, they killed off a character in a kids' TV show. Or well, they didn't but you THOUGHT they did. And then she came back as Kaylee, yay)

21- QFT. He's gay and should be gay with other old gay men if anything. >_> I was really glad to hear about it, though. So many times you have characters who, if they're gay, are defined solely by their sexuality. Now, you have a beloved children's book character who is awesome and pretty fleshed out through the series, and doesn't become any LESS awesome... he was just gay in addition to all of that. It's so rare and I really can't think of any others [strike]except maybe Miles Edgeworth[/strike].

28- Sexuality in fandom is strange. I say this cognizant that I am pretty much "in fandom" and... ...I don't really know where I'm going with this, so I think I better quit while I'm ahead.

Notsecret 1 - No idea. Couldn't tell you if I tried. It really doesn't make much sense to hate on it that much to me (even if you're all "omg I see nothing but that!" ...because people like it and write it because they like it? Hell, write your own damn stuff if you want, maybe it'll inspire others.)

Notsecret 2 - Meh. People ask, she should answer.

21. I like the books, but I'm not really into the Harry Potter fandom. That having been said, that announcement did make me smile...until it devoured my f-list. But yeah, I'm also hoping that it won't erupt as you say.

28. I'm probably setting myself up for wank here, but am I the only one who's getting tired of these "Why are there so many [insert sexuality here] people in fandom??" debates?

I'm not trying to belittle the secret, so please don't misunderstand me on that front. Yes, there are asexual people out there--my best friend is one of them. Yes, there are asexual people in fandom. There are also bisexual people in fandom. And heterosexual and homosexual. I wish we could just let it be.

15. Eee! My medieval history class decided they were OTP after seeing the movie. Write it! And sainthood makes it better, if only because of all the lame puns you can make about the pairing being canon(ized.)

25. I... will have to try this now!

Why are there so many people trying to make up excuses for people being asexual? :/

Re: 28

(Anonymous) 2007-10-21 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
why do people use being asexual for not being in any relationship? being asexual or bisexual or homosexual or heterosexual is not an excuse if you just aren't interested in someone.

yeah, the attraction to the correct gender may be a contributing factor but is it really necessary to tell someone 'no, not interested, I'm gay/straight/bi/a'?

grow a spine and just say 'flattered, thanks but not interested'.

26. Wait, I'm not sure what this secret is saying? Are you annoyed that people automatically 'assumed' that the secret maker was talking about Tezufuji because you feel its seen as a 'default ship' by lots of biased fandommers? Because if so, the reason we all thought it was about Tezufuji is because those two figures were the only ones in colour against a black and white Seigaku. Unless I'm completely misunderstanding your point. (v. probable)

I have been there and done that in non-Megacon circumstances. I know how painful and frustrating it can be to be so in love with someone who can't return that particular type of affection. I hope you're able to find a way to deal with your emotions for her and enjoy the deep level of your friendship.

3. I know! I loev you Mr. Smith, and it would have made his involvemt in Ivalice games complete (since he was involved in FFTA and FF12 and VS) but alas. Joseph Reeder (his partner in FF12) was creditted in the FFT localization and he definitely takes after Alexander, and the translation turned out gorgeous, so I AM OKAY.

29. aslkdjas. I have the translated ones, up until volume 4 -- and I couldn't keep reading, it was just too much for me. It just felt too... heartbreaking.

I'm actually tempted to get rid of them, because while I thought Confidential Confessions was intelligently done, LIFE... just sort of hurts to read, you know? It reminds you a lot of the bad things in your own life.

(Anonymous) 2007-10-22 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
It really is heartbreaking and depressing. By the way, the artist of Confidential Confessions has a new series out recently called "Kokoro" (Heart) that is about shoplifting. I recommend it.

These two artists just make me so depressed, though. The old work of the artist of "Life" did a one-shot bullying manga called "The Vitamin of Love" several years ago.

29

[identity profile] smilingbomb.livejournal.com 2007-10-21 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm on volume four of the manga, but yeah, I find it just as depressing.

29 OP here

8. How about G'nort? Do you punch people who like G'nort?

13. He was my fav Space Cases character...I would too.

28. MEGACOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON! I love that con something fierce. Sorry you like asexuals. We're everywhere.

[identity profile] slatterly.livejournal.com 2007-10-21 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
6. THIS HAS OFFICIALLY MADE MY DAY HOLY CRAP.

28. I don't see why your friendship needs to be ruined by the fact that you can't make out with her. Geez. She's "out of your reach" if she lives in Malaysia and refuses to talk to you. Not screwing you isn't worth freaking out over if you're already as close as your secret would indicate.

re: 28

(Anonymous) 2007-10-21 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Because having romantic feelings for someone who is for some reason unable reciprocate it -- whether it is because they're asexual or just plainly unavailable -- is painful and uncomfortable and can put strains in a friendship, especially if you're close and the person in question can read your emotions like a book. Because personal relationships are difficult and complicated and involve significantly more than 'screwing' and 'making out' -- they go both ways and when you invest a certain kind of feeling into someone and they cannot return it on the same level, it sends your relationship out of step, like one person is always one step ahead of the other, and yeah, no one wants that but it happens. It's selfish to want the other person on the same page as you when you know they legitimately can't be, but you want it anyway.

Not the OP, probably overstepping my boundaries here and navel-gazing to boot, but God, your comment really bothered me. I'm sorry, it's just so insensitive and belittling. Having someone you care for be emotionally unavailable in any sense is much worse than overcoming distance and superficial separation -- I would rather take the Malaysia option.

I've been in the fandom for...almost two years now and a picture of the two of them still makes me really happy. XDDD

I think I died seeing that particular picture of them. Sad that I know exactly which chapter that's from? >.> Or that "What Shio!" means something to me?

I'm iffy on how I feel on the latest chapters though. It's like 'HELL YES! I LOVE MY FANDOM' and 'OMG!CHEAP!...' at the same time.

Re: 27

I should have seen your comment earlier. I'm almost a week behind schedule on F!S. >_>; That image is from chapter 341. That's deliberate flirting if you ask me. XD

Gosh, I feel the same way about the fanservice. It's good that, huh, there is finally some fanservice for them (in manga) after so long but the way everything is being handled couldn't be cheaper.

:O

5. One of my best friends has that problem. Her favourite character to ever exist in any fandom in existance lasted ONE EPISODE in the anime. He supposedly lasts longer in the manga, though. :/
