I also don't like it when cashiers/bartenders/waitstaff call me by my first name because they read it on my debit card or ID. I know it's completely innocuous, but OH GOD I DIDN'T INTRODUCE MYSELF WTF STOP THAT GET OUT OF MY HEEEEEAD.
Re: What are your pet peeves?
meeee toooo. I get that it's kind of a regional thing but it just bugs me! Always feels so condescending.

Wow, that's weird. I've experienced it the other way around - as a server or cashier I've had to wear a nametag, and occasionally some people will act really familiar with me and say my name like they know me and I just want to be like "no"

(Anonymous) 2013-12-05 12:33 am (UTC)(link)Know-it-alls and snobs.
Oppression olympics and people who act like white cis gay men are the ultimate enemy.
Gay men who think their opinion on a woman's looks is relevant.
People in my neighborhood who just let their dogs run around.

Probably my biggest one is unsolicited advice. just NO. Also people giving me nicknames. I once had a girl call me a shortened version of my first name (which I never use, and have never given anyone permission to use) without asking and it wasn't even someone I knew well - a friend who I'd recently met. It just feels really intimate and like acting like we're best friends or sisters or something. Um. Bad drivers. People leaving lights on when they've gone to bed/left the house. My brother yelling like he's actually in a stadium when watching football on TV at our house.

People who drive way under the speed limit, mostly because every time I run into someone who is, there's too much traffic to pass. (On the other hand I tend to drive slow after work so I can't point too much of a finger.)
People who get uppity about being carded for cigarettes. Especially when there's a sign that says "We ID EVERYONE". I'm not losing my job because you feel the need to act like a two year old over something that isn't a big damn deal.

My roommates leaving on lights/TV/radio when they've left a room and aren't coming back anytime soon.
Bad drivers, especially those who are too slow or people who don't use their damn turn signals.

(Anonymous) 2013-12-05 02:57 am (UTC)(link)People who leave their shopping carts in the middle of the parking lot, especially when where they leave it is less than 20 feet from a cart stall
The healthcare website – I have messages, where are they? Why do I have to answer everything again, why can’t I just review the summary? I don’t think the verification system issue is going to be resolved in twenty-four hours because you’ve told me that same thing at least once a day for the last five days.
Why is every other dessert recipe something pumpkin? I get it, it’s a popular fall flavor, but, wow, you’d think it was everyone’s favoritest flavor ever, except for the fact that it virtually disappears for the rest of the year. Maybe if it was around for longer, it wouldn’t be so overloaded in the fall. That canned pumpkin stuff isn’t even pumpkin.
