I used to be really into Naruto, and I'm so much anymore, but get over it. I mean, I don't like Bleach, but I don't go waving my opinion-penis in everyone's face.

It's another Utena day!! Apparently I need to go back and re-watch this series although I'm missing the entire middle.

6. If I was out in the forest and I heard an electronic noise, I think I would pee myself. Have you seen Jurassic Park 3? Yeah, it was a bad movie, I know, but you know what it taught me? That noise? It's a fucking dinosaur man. RUN.

7. You're not. I've never seen it. I've got friends who love it and showed me an episode or two and I wasn't impressed. I still go "Oh... yeah, that was good," though, 'cause... I know how bad it feels when I go "OMG LOOK BATTLESTAR GALACTICA!!!!1" and people go "........"

12. There seem to be two levels of it -- the outright, real, terrible rape, and then there seems to be the "oooh, no, no, please no" (but you know they actually want it) thing. Both are terrible, but the latter -- the one that I see the most in yaoi -- shows up everywhere, not just in yaoi. So unfortunately I don't think it's a yaoi phenomenon, I think it's a bad porn phenomenon. I don't understand the first one at all, altough Stolkholm Syndrome (that's what it's called when you're captured and you start to sympathize with your captor, right??) can be a kink in some cases. The latter I think... well, in het porn I think people just like to think that the girl is all innocent and pure or some junk, and I think that carries over to the weepy girly ukes that show up in yaoi pron. You know what I hate? I hate when the seme apologies afterwards. "Oh, sorry I couldn't hold back, I just had to put it in you, my bad." WHAT? *flail*

17. I could never be a fan of that woman because whenever I see her all I feel is SEETHING JEALOUSY BECAUSE SHE HAS THE BEST JOB EVER. 7. Someone who thinks Naruto is overrated? Someone who hates Naruto for being too popular? ALERT THE POLICE. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.

That being said, I don't really watch Naruto anymore, but it's popular for a reason. It's (or at least was, in the beginning) fairly fast-paced, and it has likable, relatable characters. It's definitely better than a good portion of the niche anime that elitist fans herald as OMGZTEHBESTESTEVA!!!11!!1! *coughHaruhicough*

I agree with the sentiment of this secret, but...

1) This has been a cliche in het romance for hundreds of years, so please not to be blaming yaoi writers for it, k?

2) While the fluffy, cute love thing doesn't tend to happen, some rape survivors do have romantic relationships with their rapists after the fact. It's definitely, in my opinion, more tragic than romantic, but it does happen.

In this day and age though where in yaoi is everywhere compared to het (internet-wise, that is), it's no wonder most people point on yaoi.

As for your second point, yeah, stockholm syndrome does happen at times, but when that plot device is used all the freakin time, it can get pretty tiresome. Besides almost all such cases of yaoi fics/manga that uses that plot device stink of unbelievability and ridiculousness. So the OP's post still stands.

7. Special. I think Paris Hilton is overrated but you don't see me going, "OMG PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW TRUE STARDOM!!!!1 MARILYN MONROE AND ROCK HUDSON!!!1"

Sure, it sucks when you hit it up with the anime club or people interested in anime and BAWWWWWWWWWWWW they love Naruto and drool at its every episode and chapters published. But they're popular for a reason. Naruto has a huge cast of characters, people relate with them, people are inspired by them, etc. And the plot is good (aimed well at young boys-- 'cause ya know shounen), even if this time skip thing has been wavering the plot and character development too much (Orochibuto? There goes character development out the window~).

Have you even given it a chance? I'm not talking about the anime, the manga's always the easiest to catch up on. Sure, it's long but at least it's not Inuyasha with 500+ chapters of where nothing happens for a long time and Naraku is a damn hax or something.

If you have and you hate it, okay then. Everyone's tastes differ but to go about shoving that's it "overrated", "too long" and "too popular" is just pushing it and it's like singling it out. There are plenty of series like that. DBZ is still popular among boys here, isn't it? Final Fantasy VII and its compilation games?

What does the artwork have to do with the story? Beck is pretty "ugly" itself yet it's popular and has a great story. Some argue despite Claymore's awkward character designs it's also an excellent manga.

And not everyone in the anime sub-culture only loves Naruto. You've just met boring people then.

I can like my Naruto and Mononoke, kthx.

I'm... a bit bored I guess with the arc because I think it's going to end rather anti-climatically which makes me go D: because there was so much awesomeness in this arc. I mean, the Nel being a hot babez thing was kinda like, "o rly lol" and then boss fight #2 with Nnoitra-- and Szayel just being kind of annoying now.

UGH. TESLA YOU FURRY. THAT'S NOT HOT. :(
