I don't really understand how making the joke about fictional characters makes it okay? I mean the rape part is still there. Doesn't matter if he's talking about drugging elves or women or trolls or invisible leprechauns. He was still joking about drugging people and having sex with them and then calling it "rape" with scare quotes.

Annnd, getting upset with someone for making a rape joke does not mean you automatically think they are going to rape someone in real life.

Making a rape joke clearly means Martin thinks rape is okay, and probably does a lot of raping in his free time.

It's one thing to say "I disapprove of the rape joke" and say that's wrong. but nice try with that other bullshit, rad!fem.

Okay, a couple thoughts:

* Pretty sure the "helping hand" comment was sarcasm. It's obvious (or should be) that Freeman was sarcastically making a false argument mainly because his tone is oozing sarcasm and he used airquotes for extra sarcasm.

* The context of the comment was not women, but elves and hobbits which is your biggest clue that we're not talking real world applications here.
