No, the show has more there than the books. I would say the fandom is crazy, but I'm not terribly opposed to Littlefinger/Sansa (but Littlefinger is also my ASOIAF fandom bicycle) so I probably shouldn't talk...

100% straw grasping. Unless a child being sexually menaced by the disfigured and mentally disturbed middle-aged manservant/bodyguard of a Mad King who is holding the child hostage is somehow romantic.

I mean, I've seen plenty of people shipped things because they're fucked up, and I get that, but everyone I've ever encountered who ships this seems to think it's some kind of epic, Disney love story. IDGI.

Sigh. I feel like the relationship between Sandor and Sansa has been reduced to half the fandom(or the shippers) arguing that Sandor and Sansa have this genuine romantic thing going on, and the other half, who are squicked out by the pairing, arguing that there was nothing between the two, and the canon relationship between the two characters gets completely swept under the rug and ignored. Sandor and Sansa do have a special relationship in the books (although I wouldn't argue it's a romantic one, or a staggeringly important one), in which they're able to see the good in the other, and sympathize with each other, despite being so different from each other. I also think Sansa helped Sandor find a bit more of his human side, while Sandor opened up Sansa's eyes to the fact that goodness can be found in things that are not beautiful
Anyways. The 'Sansan' ship gives me a headache, solely because it's made Sansa/Sandor this over the top thing in fandom

The fact that so many SanSan shippers ITT use Sansa, an extremely impressionable and vulnerable 11 year old girl, as proof of her and Sandor's ~undying love~ squicks me out so much. She's a fucking child in a terrible position and her "feelings" seem not unlike a groomed kid suffering stockholm syndrome imo. I won't even touch on how unstable and creepy Sandor is.

Repeating myself from above.

I think fandom (not only this one) has forgotten what a ship being 'canon' means.
Ned/Cat is canon, cause they were in an actual relationship and the 'canon' stays even after the relationship ended or one of them died. Jaime/Cersei is also canon.
SanSan is not and that has nothing to do with people denying any sort of relationship.
For example, Brienne being in love with Renly is canon, but the Brienne/Renly ship is not.

It's really not that hard!?
