Nah, Miley Cyrus knows exactly what she is doing. So what if people like you call her stupid names and make fun of her, everyone is talking about her. People are buying her songs and guess what? She doesn't care why you bought it, you are giving her money. She doesn't seem to be into drugs or any other nasty stuff young stars get into. But she has a perfect stage/public persona that puts her on the front of magazines and in the news.

That doesn't contradict what OP is saying, though? Cyrus wants attention. She's getting it any way she can get it, it doesn't matter what kind. Gaga gets the reactions she wants and aims for, Cyrus wants any at all. That's why it looks so desperate.

Nah fuck that Miley Cyrus is fine and she gets way too much hate for no appreciable reason. I mean, "desperate for attention" - how the fuck are you going to determine that?

Everything that I've seen her do gives me the impression that she's in control of her career. Everything that she's done that's been controversial, pretty much, has been part of a public performance and a public persona, and it gives me the impression that she's doing it basically because she thinks it's interesting. And you don't have to like that but the level of personal condemnation she gets for it is absurd (although it's probably also what she wants). I don't find it bratty or immature and I think that's a judgment you're putting on it, but I know I'm never going to convince you of this and you're going to reply saying "It's just gross" and "she's disgusting" and "she's flaunting her body" or whatever, and I just don't care if you think that, so why am I even saying this? I don't rightly know.

Well I think it'll go one of two ways for Miley. Either she'll find a way to reinvent herself when the shock tactic no longer draws a crowd, like Madonna has done periodically, or she'll end up like so many child stars - in and out of rehab.

I don't hate her, but I do find her a bit pathetic. Her fame is based on her ability to twerk against ugly middle aged guys, get naked and lick hammers. Her music is forgettable. For an artist, that seems kind of sad.

Miley Cyrus is a young woman trying to break out of the cutesy child everyone thinks she is, and she's pushing it and pushing it so people see her as a goddamn adult and not just Hannah Montana. And she's willing to do some ridiculous things for it.

But this is, honestly, a problem with a lot of child stars. People only see them as children and it fucks them over growing up when they try to take on roles to suit their age.

I think Miley is a better actress than anyone ever gave her credit for. She puts on one heck of a show, and doesn't bother trying to cover it up saying it's art or something. It's her sliding down her own giant tongue.

Honestly, if I'm was going to go to a music concert, you best believe I'd rather see someone sliding down a giant tongue, for the sake of a show; then see something getting thrown up on, for the sake of art.

That said, I love Miley Cyrus, and Lady Gaga, and Kesha, and Nicki Menage, and Beyonce, and any other woman carving out an individual career for herself. I may not agree with their choices, but I'll support their right to make them.

To be honest the only thought that crosses my mind when I see pictures of M. Cyrus is that I had never seen something so completely unattractive before in my life. What she does is of course planned to sell and I think it's working, and I would not judge what she does or think it's stupid because it's the usual easy self-marketing every one in that world does. This one is the kind that sells fast and burns fast.

She'll then disappear and appear again in 2 or 3 years with a newfound disney good girl look and replay the cycle. It's just marketing, nothing one should 'judge' like we are talking personal lifestyle choices. You buy into the product or you don't.

I don't care for Lady Gaga either, but I don't find her aesthetically repulsive.

Uh huh. Me, I think she's a young woman finally free of the Mouse's rigid standards and she's going a little wild. So she dry-humps on stage or gets naked in a video - who cares? Her choice.

As for Lady Gaga - she's got some good ideas and some good thoughts, and she tends to put herself in the public eye in really strange ways. They both do this *for a living*, and every blurb on E! or tweet or whatever is money in the bank.

Good on them for making it, and good on them if they come through the other side intact and alive.

To be honest, the only thing that annoys me about Miley is that she's everywhere. There's literally noway to get away from her. Whenever I see yet another photo of her i'm just like "please go away! Do whatever you want, but please can everyone dial down the obsession!" But then I felt the same way about the Kardashians and One Direction. Celebrity obsession gets on my nerves more then the celebrity themselves.

...I know she isn't happy with being seen as "Hannah Montana" and all and her choice and stuff.

though at the same time, I always loved her as Hannah Montana and her early albums. She was the first Disney channel girl I identified with because she had a southern twang like me (sorta) and her music was poppy and fun. Even with Can't Be Tamed, I liked it still and thought that it was pretty classy about being more mature.

I had looked forward to her next album after Can't Be Tamed but most of the stuff on Bangerz.....really was nothing I was really into. It kinda made me sad but I moved on and found another artist I really liked and still liked now.

Sorry if this all seems really pointless and stupid. I don't mean to say she should have done this or that I just felt like saying my opinion.

Well people have brought up how some of Gaga's latest stunts are getting a bit... questionable, but IMO? I still like how Gaga carries herself more than anything Cyrus has done lately.

I admit however I'm a tad tired of Gaga too, and I didn't buy Artpop.
