I...don't get it. I know some people think she's an 'immortal time traveler' but how? It was shown that she lived through the ages. Did she just port back to the time before life really started on land, land underwater/in mud, and then just come to? Did her device just explode or not come with her?

I also think it's odd that she's so...European looking millions of years before the first humans came to be (Who weren't Caucasian)

I just don't get it. :(

Also, wow, I originally thought she was robbing the craddle with JimJim, but that is a huge understatement!

I always thought she looked more Eurasian/mixed-race to me? But yeah, it's interesting. I prefer the theories more along the lines of a rock elemental/maybe a Mother Earth-type figure, so... maybe she's sandstone, I don't know.

Either way, Tom's probably sitting back watching the theorising and going, "Gooood, goooooood..." while rubbing his hands together deviously XD

I don't write, but every November I feel the need to be just as productive as all the NaNo-ers. Plus, most of my f-list drops off the face of the planet so its pretty boring and quiet online. So this year I'm going to spend at least 1 hour every day drawing.

For some clarification, I was the Touhou/Homestuck secret OP and believe me when I say I was shocked by what I saw there.

Okay. On hindsight, I realized that I should have worded the secret more properly, but just because I like to ship some stuff doesn't mean I'm "shallow" or "peverted"! Have you considered that the OP didn't think of Tumblr when I wrote that (and just to make this clear, I DID know about Touhoustuck, but I couldn't help gasping and saying "is this it"? I know, I've been overestimated. Cry moar...). I am a human, you know! Not some emotionless doll!

I also saw some Tumblr-ites crying out "No! No!" to the crossover. Your reactions are why I made this secret in the first place. seriously, what is it with some people not being able to handle crossovers. What is it with people being unexceptible to other's thoughts (similarity here, I know.

But you know what, fuck it. If I can think of a crossover involving an Italian assassin, a hell raven, a mind manipulator, a shrine maiden, two trolls, two Japanese girls, one American inventor, one Mexican Jew, an Italian priest, a yellow flying pony, and a suicidal teacher with his class of 17+ students, and you tumblr-ites hate it just because your fandoms are involved, then... Fuck it, I forgot what I'm supposed to say here.

I've never had a pitbull, so to do research on them, I looked them up on the internet, and now I'm just really sad.

I've lived my whole life in a large urban city in America. I have never had a racial slur used against me that targeted my people specifically (the worst I've been called is "whitey", I think). So when I hear that "kike" is an unacceptable slur, I have no reaction to it. If someone called me a kike I wouldn't get mad or scared, I'd be baffled. I don't even know what "kike" means, honestly. If you've never used a slur against you, how are you supposed to get offended when you hear it?

(BTW, this was one of the reasons I hated HP and the COS Movie having Hermione get offended about being called "mudblood". It made no sense.)

I just have to vent because I basically went to keyboard-mashing rage-levels yesterday when someone in a kinkmeme of mine dismissed the emotional abuse and neglect a character suffered at the hands of their parents as "manpain" and requested that a second character (whose father physically beat him) to be unimpressed with and contemptuous of the first character.

Excuse YOU, I've dealt with assholes who think that "it's not abuse if it's not physical" all my fucking life. I've been shamed and internalized the idea that I should feel weak and pathetic and stupid for being bothered by my parents' emotional abuse and neglect for years, being told that only whiny babies and sissies would be bothered by it. Reading that prompt upset me so badly I'm still shaken a day later. Last night I dreamed about one of my best friends, who has supported and helped me all my life, even though his life is far shittier than mine, suddenly looking at me in disgust and ridicule and telling me that I have no right to be upset because his life was worse.

Please tell me I'm not alone. I feel silly for being so bothered by some dickwad on the internet, but I'd really appreciate it if people would share stories of times they were really upset by a "silly" thing like fandom too.

I've been only partially employed with no hopes of finding a new job because I have no car and live in the middle of nowhere, so I decided to try my hand at crafts to hopefully sell on etsy and the like. I always think "hmm, not too bad" and then go and look at etsy and the like and immediately feel like a child playing at a grown up game. I'm just so frustrated. Who would buy my sub par art and crafts when there are so many awesome people selling their goods?

Life, you are depressing.

Tumblr Makes No Sense - an assortment of woes

So I got a tumblr and decided to start using it because like it or not, that's the way fandom is shifting. And it befuddles me.

(This is all highly personalised ranting, not a general critique on tumblr culture...Though I'm more than down at ranting about that, too! I just need to vent right now. Feel free to ignore this, nothing interesting here.)

Progression of events:
- Makes a post I've spent time thinking on in a medium-ish fandom: 4 notes. Okay, cool. Wasn't expecting much.
- Makes a post in same fandom I really want feedback on - ~13 notes. Awesome! That's helpful.
- Makes a post in same fandom with crappy manip that I was ashamed of 5 minutes after posting - 30 notes. Hmm.
- Makes a short post in ginormous fandom that I was just kind of amused about - 10 notes, but...3 new followers. I have no clue why. :/ I don't think they understand that I don't actually post that much of that fandom.

And now I have a handful of followers and I'm kind of terrified because if I post things from Fandom A I'm afraid of letting down people from Fandom B and vice versa (WHY ARE PEOPLE FROM FANDOM B FOLLOWING ME AT ALL). Also one person who started following me for Fandom A I think has the same timezone as me, so they reblog things around the same time as me, and I feel kind of awkward because they know I'm there. I want to lurk again.

And why is it that most people speak in tags? I mean that's good and all, but if I want to see what people actually think I have to track their posts down and look at the tags. So. D:

Oh, and also! In Fandom C, another big fandom, my RL friend who is SUPER INTO Tumblr got me into it, but I don't ship the ABSOLUTE MAIN ABOVE ALL pairing and instead a smallish pairing and I told her about it, and now I'm terrified she'll figure out my tumblr if I ever do anything for it. I mean I like her in RL and we share our fandom stories, but we've never actually shared fandoms before (except HP, and that barely counts). I don't actually want her to read any fanfics that I might post in the future.

Also I'm ridiculously shy and scared to talk to people. -_- And I'm not a very squeeful person, I don't think I'm capable of posting the words "SCREAMING" or "MY FEELS" unironically. Which is against tumblrculture.

So basically, I feel awkward and self-conscious and even though I mostly lurked on LJ I miss it. ): It also doesn't help that I'm 17, but for some reason I am so ~mature~ for my age and a lot tumblrites that are around my age seem irrevocably embarrassing to me (though not all, of course), but most people on LJ/DW are older than me and I feel too immature.

But guys, thanks for letting me rant, and thanks for being such an awesome group of people :) And since we're on topic, I've asked for advice a few times in the past but haven't replied, so sorry for that. I did read everyone's comments and appreciate them. If that ever happened to you, I apologize profusely. It's just that this community is great and helpful and stuff.

Bisexual TV Characters (A H:LOTS Squee)

I was reminded of Homicide: Life on the Street today, and just how awesome it is that a police procedural from the early 90's had a bisexual male character.

Tim Bayliss was a main character from the beginning, and while they did not introduce his attraction to men until the 6th season (a generally weaker season), it ran consistent with everything we had learned about him before, and his path to coming out tied in with his personal character arc at the time. I also greatly appreciated that he continued to show attraction to both men and women. He was not promiscuous, but the one-shot love interest in one episode could be a women, and it could be a man in another. With five seasons of character development under his belt, his sexuality never defined him; it just became one more thing that made Bayliss the man he was.

Does anyone have recs for other good canonically bisexual characters? (I highly recommend Homicide: Life on the Street if you like realistic cop shows.)
