I have started to use a username/handle/tumblr name based on my own. Does this seem self-centered to you guys? Or does it depend on how it's used, like "themostawesomebobintheworld" is worse than "herecomesbob" or "bobesque" to use an example? (if anyone happens to have any of these usernames I don't mean to point any fingers or anything)

There's a lot of usernames that will make me roll my eyes, like "pimpmasta69" or "wolfheart gundamn XIII" -- but a name based on your actual name isn't one of them.

I dunno, my tumblr handle is based on ...well actually it's based on an RP account because I was trying to do tumblr RP and ...well ...I just lost interest.But my personal tumblr handler is based in my online name. *shrug* nuttin wrong with it.

Edit: Oh wait...we're talking about actual names.

So I keep seeing ads that call it the best Disney since the Lion King or Beauty and the Beast. I wasn't going to see it because 1. Disney really dropped the ball on not using the original story which would have been awesome and 2. That stupid looking snowman. Has anyone seen it?

I was thinking with all those anons (or one really repetitive anon) who always shows up and says that fandomsecrets is dead, what are ways that we could get more people in f!s? I'm sure there's people who can refer it to a friend or maybe advertise f!s somewhere like the various fandom confession tumblrs. Also, would we even want to do that? It is slow some days and I think more would be nice sometimes, but there could be a flood of tumblr SJWs or trolls (beside our resident ones). What do you think, F!S?

personal problems at work TW: Child death

What are your thoughts on sharing personal details at work? I've got this one woman who tells me a bunch of stuff I would never share unless I knew someone very well. Like how her son has problems with drugs, up to how her twelve-year-old has a problem with porn. I'm friendly, but I don't encourage her and I really don't need to hear that. We've got a bunch of new people that have been hired for the holidays. One person started talking about her kids and then mentioned TRIGGER WARNING how two of her children were born dead and the others had health issues. Just like that. I don't know what to do in that kind of situation.

I just finished writing the story for my first Big Bang and I need to find a Beta fairly soon. Where do you find is the best place to find Betas? I've posted to the Beta page the BB Mod set up and I've posted in Beta-request LJ's before too and never heard anything.

I've never used a Beta before; what should I expect? Any tips?

There's a place in the sister city over where I live that sells what looks like the most delicious looking cupcakes. (Gigi's Cupcakes, if you are curious.) I want to try the cookie dough cupcake. (Yes, I know I am five years behind the trend. But, dammit, I like cupcakes.)

I ask you, in general, what's your favorite cupcake flavor? If you like cupcakes, where do you usually get them? A typical grocery store? A mom and pop bakery? A chain coffee house? Or even your own oven because you think you make the best cupcakes? Or someplace else off the wall?

And for non-Americans, I am curious, how big are cupcakes where you are? (Besides the fact, which country are you in?) What is the local baked good/pastry favorite? And why should we drool over them?

Help! Magneto Comic Pages

I remember a looonnngggg time ago someone posted a secret about Magneto and how they thought the Holocaust would make him not want to be a genocidal maniac. Someone posted a comic page showing Magneto and Professor X talking. Magneto was expressing shock that someone would think he was going to commit genocide. Does anyone have that page? Or the secret? I tried googling it.

i'm not looking for wank but i suspect i'll find it anyway, because this is sort of related to yesterdays "misogyny on tvtropes" thread

so i was on one of those pages and i do have to admit i think i might be guilty of holding a double standard. when a man cheats i always tend to think "what a absolute arsehole" and when a woman cheats i always tend to wonder on some level what the man did to drive her to it. is that fucked up? am I alone in this? am I one of those mythical misandrist feminist?

i mean i imagine i'm not, but i'd really like some reassurance on this.

Except wait for them to cry themsleves out, or stare blankly at them until they appreciate they're wasting my time.

CR and the bitter bronies

I still don't understand why CR and the like are still harping on MLP after the season 4 premiere. Was Twilight becoming a princess really all that shocking, considering the show was always aimed at little girls? I used to like the guy's reviews, but now I can't stomach his stuff anymore. I find it slightly amusing, considering how much he gushed about MLP back in the day.

Why are so many guys in the 18-35 male demographic so butthurt about this show? They're the target demographic for 99% of TV media, why does one show for little girls mean that much to them?
