canon or fanon: in the first quarter quell, each district had to vote on which kids would be their tributes.

i've seen it in multiple fics and it sounds absolutely right and perfect and i have zero memory of reading it in the books. but i really want it to be canon.

(if not, oh well, headcanon ahoy!)

If there's any character meant to represent the author's views it's him. I don't think I've ever seen him be the butt of a joke like other characters.

That is, on the whole, probably one of the least stupid things to have happened in comics.

They're not exactly a crack ship and people who do see something between them aren't trolling everybody else and are hardly delusional.

Sorry, but I'm sick of people saying the fandom made them expect more from this ship and that "there's nothing there!"

Oh, don't get me wrong, it is super corny that they went ahead and matched him up. But I kind of thought it was the clever sort of corny--Marcus is being held by his father's enemies and one of them quips that he "doesn't see the family resemblance." Cue comicbook nazi supervillains doing what comicbook nazi supervillains do.

Ultimate Fury was basically just Nick Fury, only black and modern for the Ultimate universe. Then the movies happened and they based Fury off of that version because they really wanted Jackson for the part. But the Ultimate universe was (is) kind of a huge mess at the time, so they wanted to make the main universe, the one the movies drew more from, more accessible to new readers. Fury's most distinguishing characteristic is the eye patch. You want new readers to know who they're looking at at a glance.

Yep, it is. I recognized his smug face from Spartacus instantly. God, I loved to hate his character in that.

IIRC, Jackson gave permission to use his likness for Ultimate Fury, provided he got to play Fury if the character ever ended up in a movie.

I recall another strip where the girl gave a long and heartfelt analogy about a differently colored flower in a field, and the "punchline" was the boy telling her "you're BLACK!" (Then again, a different strip got the punchline from the boy implying the girl's father wasn't really black.)

It's less pointless than catering to the whiny, entitled, WASPy fandom they currently have.

He's still a dumb kid who is way too cynical and negative. Both in the comic strip w/ the interactions with Caesar, who's often presented as being the actual voice of reason who understands what's really going on the same way that Huey does but who is able to put it into perspective, and in the TV show, where Huey is just a dumb kid a lot of the time.

He is the closest thing to an authorial voice, yes, but not at all perfect. He is the butt of a joke on the TV series, but more "sympathetic but kinda dumb" on the comic

Is it like two different characters who happen to look the same, or do you mean more like two clones of the same character? I've never read either. Selfcest seems to be pretty rare.

Huh, Tennant has asymmetrical ears, never noticed before.
