muh M&Ms

if it's okay to avoid men because statistically they're the most likely to be killers/rapists

is it okay for white/asian men to avoid black/hispanic men because they're statistically even more of a threat

/shuffles into room nonchalantly with mop, pushing it over the floor, whistling jaunty tune as i go

/takes one look around and shuffles back out still shuffling and whistling jauntily

Well, I think it's okay to avoid anyone that makes you feel uncomfortable, if you're just talking about personal decisions (as opposed to say, governmental decisions or employment decisions). I also think the reasons you've listed above are really stupid and ill-informed, but I'm not the arbiter of other people's lives.

You mean Muh strawman. Also, no. Statistically women's greatest threat is men. Do you know what men's is? Heart disease. Now, it would be completely justified if a man were to cross the street if they saw a heart walking down the same sidewalk as them.

Statistically women's greatest threat is men.

Specifically, what kind of threat? Comparable to heart disease?

I don't think that's true. Women's greatest threat of harm from others is men (and men's greatest threat of harm from others is...also men), but as for actually dying of things before old age, women and men (at least in developed countries) are both way more likely to die from disease or an accident than from violence.

well i mean, by that logic black women should feel much safer (and not avoid) white men than black men. Cuz according to DOJ, out of all the rapes where a black woman was the victim, 0.0% of the offenders were white. But for white women 16.6% were black

Well sure, cause us white folks know we gotta keep them in their own parts of town. That way the violence turns inward!

It takes a whole system to do it but if we all work together it'll keep working!

Statistics are stupid because they're not, in fact, what foster these feelings. It's all about personal experience.

It's okay for anyone to personally avoid anyone for any reason they want. What's not okay are things like institutionalized financial inequality.

Re: muh M&Ms

(Anonymous) 2014-05-30 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Is it really? If I've had a few bad experiences with black men, would I then be justified in, say, choosing not to hire a black candidate to work for my business despite him being fully qualified? Or voice the opinion that I, personally, just can't trust black men. If you knew me personally and were aware of my feelings, would you really be "okay" with it?

TW:Sexual Assault

(Anonymous) 2014-05-30 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
I've had some time to dwell on it, and I'm going to go slightly offtopic for a second. I know you do this daily, trollanon. I know you like to shit stir for attention and being 'anti-feminism' is pretty edgy right now. I know you're doing it because you get enjoyment when you get attention, but the people you're emulating? Not all of them are in it for the 'shits and giggles'. A lot of those guys, they truly believe in what they're saying.

I won't mention his name, but a certain mass murderer posted a lot of hate against feminism. One specific post was a rant about how feminism was evil, simply because it gave women the right to choose who they have sex with. That it gave women the 'power to control the future of humanity', and that was evil. Because Feminism allowed the 'inhuman' women to choose which men she "mated" with, and that was unfair. He was being 100% serious, and this sentiment was echoed all over that board.

Recently there was a story in the news about two teenage sisters who were gangraped and hung up on a tree in India. A young woman was stoned to death for her husband's crime in the Middle East. A woman was forced to give birth in jail with her ankles shackled apart, simply because she married a Christian man. A memorial prom photo was created for a teenage girl who was stabbed to death for turning down a boy's prom request.

You really aren't being that great of a person lately, anon. Things like feminism are still needed. Women are suffering under this type of thinking all over the world. I know you want attention, but for once, could you do it in some other, more productive, way?

Re: TW:Sexual Assault

(Anonymous) 2014-05-30 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
THIS is an incredibly eloquent comment, and I really like you, anon.

It does make me very sad, though, to think of it. Not angry anymore, just exhausted and sad.

Why are human beings so awful? I hope we never get off this planet so we can't colonise other worlds with our shittiness.

off topic but fuck it, this reminds me of that stupid shit that has been done in high school class rooms where they unwrap a piece of chocolate and have the students pass it around and then compare it to a person (with the emphasis on girl persons) having sex. after you've been "handled" by a bunch of people nobody will want you, like nobody wants that chocolate.

and just like that example, this m&m thing makes me want to scream: PEOPLE ARE NOTHING LIKE CANDY GODDAMNIT COME UP WITH A BETTER ANALOGY YOU GITS

Are black/Hispanic men statistically a significant threat to white/Asian men? Serious question, I'd like to see the stats for this if they exist.

Also, as others have pointed out: shit analogy. Humans and human interactions are more complex than fucking M&Ms.

Not to mention how insensitive comments like this are to women who have a wariness of men built up because of actual, repeated experiences of abuse. Villainizing those women and acting like they need to just suck it up and look at the stats and will all those fears away is an especially callous kind of bad behavior imo.
