I think she's been super underdeveloped (though lmao what else would I expect from Moffat?), but I think that Jenna is SUPER charming which makes Clara more likable to me than she otherwise would be.

I hope we get to to know her better in series 8.

I stopped watching after "Cold War" because I couldn't take it anymore. And I would just like to say: WHAT?! They wrote WHAT?! Ok, that's a piece of new canon I'm going to completely ignore.

I haven't gotten to the point of hate, but Clara does bore me. It'd be nice to see her with some more depth in this next series (not holding my breath, but still); as it is, I tune out if the focus is on her, just because she's that uninteresting to me.

Wow, that's her story arc? Thank God I never bothered to watch any episodes past the Ponds' exist, aside from the anniversary special and Eleven's regeneration. That's absolute crap.

Moffat seriously needs to stop relying on tropes. Especially overused tropes. We've already had TWO impossible women ahead of Clara (Donna and Amy). We really didn't need another.

Which episode are you referring to as the 'best Who story ever' though..? If you're referring to that piece of crap ep 'The Doctor's Wife' I want to beat some sense in to you a little.

I don't hate her, but...I don't really care about her. She could stay or she could leave, and it wouldn't faze me either way.

That said, I hated the Impossible Girl plot, and I completely agree with you that it's bullshit.

I haven't seen much of the original Doctor Who, but I knew that Moffat re-writing the canon like that to include Clara at ALL points is... going to lead to more contradictions.

I heard someone say that he is trying to make Doctor Who his own thing. And sadly I can believe that.

I hate that not only is she the Impossible Girl, but she is now apparently the single most important companion that has ever been? She has been keeping the Doctor alive forever and ever, protecting him in every regeneration. It's such bullshit it makes me see red. Not only did she make sure he took the correct TARDIS, she's also been stumbling around in the background of every single adventure! Keeping him safe! She essentially kills herself for this guy she's known for a handful of episodes, because she's PERFECT. She's wonderful. So selfless. And IMPORTANT. And IMPOSSIBLE.

I don't think The Doctor's Wife was necessarily retconned. The TARDIS was still unlocked because she left herself unlocked. It could be that the Great Intelligence distracted the Doctor which lead to him almost choosing the wrong TARDIS and that is where Clara intervened.

I hate Clara but I love Moffat. I'm so sick of hearing people bitch that he retconned this or that. It's a show about time travel. Things. Change.

I too, OP, am hoping that I'll like Clara better in season eight. I felt her so-called chemistry with Eleven was very forced, so I'm hoping she is more compatible/likeable with Twelve.

Obviously you can hate who you want, but my feeling with Clara is that there is just nothing there to hate. What I mean is, she's not really a character? She's so boring. I hope she gets some development in the new series.

I don't *hate* Clara, I just find her boring.

She's not as annoying as Adric or Mel or Rose with Ten, but she's just forgettable.

Which is a shame because Jenna is gorgeous. Unless they do something spectacular with her this season she's just going to end up as one of those companions that people think of alongside Dodo, Vicki, Yates and Benton: "Oh yeah, those guys were companions too".

I like her, though I wish they'd done more with the alternate versions of her before we met the original.

I don't remember what the canon was about how he got that particular Tardis, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was retconned because that's what happens now. All the damn time.

Honestly, I've gotten so sick of how everything gets retconned, especially so that no one's allowed to die. Or leave. Ever. Everyone keeps coming back all the time. Companions left in other supposedly inaccessible dimensions, planets that were supposedly destroyed...especially planets that were supposedly destroyed. I expect the Ponds will return eventually. Hell, everyone else has. And if they're willing to bring back Gaillifrey, I'm sure we'll see Donna get her memories back eventually.

It's like Supernatural now. There's no sense of angst or emotion anymore when anything bad happens because I know that if I wait a few eps they'll fix it and that drives me nuts. Some things can't be fixed and the story was better for it. Doctor Who used to be a show that knew that.

Ehh, I have come to the point where, while I can see what everyone says when they criticize Moffat and/or DW as a whole, I still don't really care, because when I sit down and watch DW, I enjoy it. And the thing is, even when I go back to watch it again after Mum and I get the DVDs, I still like it.

Maybe it's just I am less inclined towards critical analysis and simply want to enjoy things.
