15. What, are you gonna scream her name out during a routine or something?

24. OH MAN ME TOO I freakin' loved that book as a kid.

31. I dunno the first artist's style, but yeah - I can see influences of Kubo Tite and Disney in ChiraChira's (?) work. I think that's sort of inevitable though, when you're creating a style. You tend to draw what you like. It evolves over time, and it's not so easy to switch on or off - I wish my style was much more like Hiroaki Samura's, or Moyoco Anno's, for example, but it's more generic shoujo crappy at the mo' no matter what I do. :/

43. Oh man, that sucks. I don't LIKE Mukuro/Hiei, but I don't dislike it. And Yuusuke is adorable with Keiko. I just remember the rabid Kurama/Yukina 'shippers back in the day. Yaaaay YYH secreeeeetttt

44. I LOVE HIME. I don't mind that she doesn't do a lot of fighting. I'm just happy to see her at all, dudes!!

Glad you're happy. ^^

I keep seeing these type of commentsand posts again and again and again - but I've never actually seen it happen. That is, I've never seen someone being called a homophobe because they don't like yaoi, or certain yaoi couples (unless they actually say that yaoi is sick and wrong of course).

And I spend my time exclusively in the slash/yaoi parts of fandom.

Do you know what this means? You've ended up with the idiots of the yaoi fandom. It's the harmonian brand of foolishness - the reasoning is completely free from logic, and they tend to write rubbish fic as well.

I also think you might be a bit of an idiot if you haven't realised this yet.

Re: 43

I've realized it, but they still bug me. Especially the ones who jsut plain DISREGARD canon...

22. Oh...thank GOODNESS I'm not the only one who's sick and tired of the Justin-bashing. Sure, the concept of a 12-year-old kid on the show may not have been the best idea in the world, but he wasn't nearly as irritating as 99% of the PR fandom makes him out to be. They forget that kids aren't adults/teenagers, and they forget that if they were in the same position at that age they'd act the same way Justin did, but at the same time, it's clear that the kid Ranger was infinitely more mature than most of the adult fans of the show still are now, ten years later.

I'm afraid you're going to be sorely disappointed when confronted with real life.

44. I understand your frustration here. As much as I adore Bleach and its female character cast, I have always had some mixed feelings and criticism about the way Kubo Tite writes his gals. I mean, yes, I understand it's his series and he can write whatever he wants, and I do admit that Rukia and Orihime are both awesome and I don't have any criticism of their actions in canon. But more often than not, he seems to use his female characters as plot devices to further the male character's power. Oops! Rukia gets captured! Now Ichigo has to do bankai training and then all of these other (mostly male) characters are introduced and developed and gain power in the process. Ooops! Orihime is in trouble! Now Ichigo has to learn this trick and that trick and gain power to save everyone. See what I mean?

The problem, I think, - and people forget this when they go on bashing-sprees - is that Bleach is a shonen series marketed towards males. So you'll get a cast of really, really undoubtedly awesome kick-ass female characters who... can't do anything. Because the series is about boys gaining power, period. Both Orihime and Rukia are amazing and both (especially Orihime) have the potential to really kick butt. But if they did? The series would be about them. And since this is marketed towards males and thus it has to be *all about Ichigo*, that can't happen. Which makes me incredibly sad, given the fact that I love Orihime and Rukia very much.

So honestly? I love Orihime to death and I really want to see her do more because she has potential and I see so much strength in her. But given the fact that this series is market towards young males? I just sadly don't think that will happen.

1. Yeah, well they're idiots, then. Real life is always much more important. Unless you're like.. shoving it in their face, or something. With two jobs and full time college, though, I can see why people chose to favor real life over fandom.
2. Totally fucking unreadable, good work :Db
5. I hated that girl too. Yuck.
7. HAHHAHAHAHAA KAPPA MIKEY. I love that show. It's so awesomely stupid. And if you don't GET that it's a parody within the first.. I dunno, 5 seconds of watching it... well, you has a probleeeemmmm 8D
45. That fanart is amazing. Kind of weeaboo, but I likeeee it.

ALSO, 31: Go back and read bleach, because from those examples? Doesn't look like Kubo Tite. It looks like semi-realistc manga, but that =/= KT

I don't know either of these artists, although the second image looks similar to the style used in Salad Days, but I have to say I can't see Tite's style in either. The first looks like very accurate DOGS fanart, in which case maybe you should be bitching about copying Shirow's style instead of Tite's, but I seriously cannot see any Tite in either except the generic anime basics which, if you're going to draw in that style, you're going to have.

In short, I don't follow these artists and am not 'jumping to their defense', I just can't see what you're saying.

Maybe you should have used different examples.

[identity profile] memlu.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
[livejournal.com profile] chirachira (the artist responsible for the second image) is the artist for and co-creator of Salad Days, which is why it looks so familiar. *g*

26: WORD. I've the same thing, and you know what? Sometimes I'll do both things, erotic intent AND horror/shock intent in the same series or even the same fucking story.

I consider one of my deepest inspirations to be visual kei, where, yes, sometimes it's erotic, but many times it's about the shock, about the parts of life and the people "good" people ignore or wish didn't exist, about the surprise, about telling "normality" and "propriety" to fuck off.

Also, I wish people would get that about fic that there's a difference between shock and endorsement.

If I'm using something for shock or for "wow, let's explore the issues here," even if it DOES contain erotic elements or violent elements or both, I'm NOT telling people "go out and do likewise" or saying "this is what I want to do," any more than "Sadistic Desire" meant Yoshiki and hide were serial killers (they weren't) or encouraging murder for writing the song and performing it onstage or any more than "Illuminati" meant Malice Mizer as a band was secretly torturing women.

27: Ahahahaha. But it's true. Dee and Ryo, so pretty ♥ here's to bishounen. *raises a glass*

24. When my class read that book I started wanting to visit other dimensions in my sleep. Ah, omoide.

26. Why? Why do you anticipate people will be frightened by fetish and BDSM content?

A whiny Schuldig can make my skin crawl, and Crawford certainly expresses a sense of humor throughout both animes, OVAs and Drama CDs.
But I wouldn't be so adamant about Farfarello.
In the Schwarz Drama CDs, Farfarello *is* shown to be capable of caring for someone (Sally).

Re: 36

[identity profile] witty-handle.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 09:30 am (UTC)(link)
Sally, and his team. Hi, they went up against a trio of gods. If Farf hadn't truly cared about the rest of Schwarz, he would have been replaced by Crawford early on as a liability. After all, false gods (especially false gods possessing magic teenage girls) make baby Jesus cry, right?

6.- Haha, AWESOME.

Even though I didn't love Kouya and Yamato any more than the average random character (though I was definitely not indifferent at their part of the story), this makes me oddly happy. xD

With how Seimei is acting in the most recent chapters, I wouldn't stop reading either. X_X Hell no I don't wanna miss the finale. But the reason I kept reading was to see more of my ultimate!OTP.

32.- Me too. >< Mostly because Tobi's silly personality (at least it still was by the time I stopped reading) and how it would be so amusing if that was Obito and he hadn't changed that much after all.

I keep seeing these comments about the rabidness of the yaoi fangirls and it strikes me as odd. I'm in the same fandom, I'll ship yaoi, yuri and het. So far I have yet to have someone flame me for writing one or the other, or even sometimes a combination of the two in the same fic.

I guess I've been lucky in that respect. Ship whoever you like. I for one won't come down on someone for liking something other than a yaoi pairing. I ship Hiei/Botan and Hiei/Keiko for cripes sake. If that isn't enough to start controversy from the rabid!yaoi fangirls, I don't know what is

Re: 43

[identity profile] pretentioustfu.livejournal.com 2007-12-10 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Agreed! Though I ship mostly yaoi (in fact, my current fandoms, being RPS, are exclusively slash/yaoi), I don't see the problem with het shippers unless they go out of their way to attack me personally or what I ship. Then it's war. ~_^

Yeah, everyone's already given you crap about how you phrased it, so I won't.

I can sympathize, because 9 times out of 10 I get the same reaction from fellow English majors when they find out I read comic books. It's like, we all got into this university, do not look at me like I'm an idiotic woman-child because I like it when words are juxtaposed with images to form a narrative. Because some of them are pretty damn great (and often better than the tripe we have to read to graduate).

44. a) If you think that Orihime is doing nothing, you have to read more carefully. ::sigh:: b) How on earth were you able to make it through the Soul Society arc, then, with Rukia doing even less than Orihime, and being suicidal on top of emo and passive?

Anonymous probably doesn't remember this panel:

She didn't take her capture lying down. =[ Also, she's saved at least three people's lives in this arc alone--Orihime isn't fighting on the frontlines, but fighting isn't all that counts. She's done lots of things. She just doesn't save the day as extravagantly as Ichigo does.

Haha. I'm 9's OP and I have to say I'm a bit taken aback. Boo hoo for me, right?

The focus of the secret was supposed to be that the kids in my class don't write for creativity or fun. They are trained by the AP course to write in a way that will win them a good grade on the AP exam. Trust me, I've seen it. I'm saying that this training leaves them high and dry when real creativity comes into play. I'm upset because I receive failing grades, which is expected because I'm not very good at essays and because it's my first AP class ever. My daily life involves a heavy amount of reading and writing and general wordy delight, whereas the kids in my class could care less about the actual language.

Sorry I twisted your knickers with my insane ego. You can rest easy tonight knowing I'm still failing.
