36. I'm watching it right now. Awesome, awesome show (though I'm more about Rei/Kaoru or Rei/Nanako myself. I'm convinced that Fukiko is the source of all Rei's problems. -.-;) Then entire show gives me Utena flashbacks - which is a good thing, because I love Utena.

I think it's mostly a matter of what side you're on, when it comes to Rinoa. I've noticed alot of Rinoa haters going WTF everyone loves her, and alot of Rinoa lovers going WTF every hates her. I think the actual ratio of Rinoa haters to Rinoa lovers is 50/50.

NO KIDDING. Monologues about how Chandra loved him more, or how he killed Isaac, or whatever? He's totally only doing it to provoke and get a reaction out of Mo. Sylar's like a kid in fifth grade, shooting spitballs at or pulling the hair of the object of his childish desires, just to get the attention. He just loves it.

... I know the simile sounds silly, if it weren't so true.

AMEN and PRAISE ALMIGHTY GOD.

Okay, maybe not to that extent, but I think it's A-OK to hate fictional characters. At least that's not hurting anything. Good way to vent at times. And Rinoa? Yeah, fuck her. It's a real bummer having friends who love the characters you hate at a near-protective levels. I feel I have to consciously censor myself just to keep them unoffended. D: But really, honesty's just the best medicine in the world.

1. Cool! I have a knack for associating songs and characters!
2. Yeah, some fandoms are awesome for their flaws. It makes me miss the days before "snark" was a thing. People could get away with being nuts.
3. I dunno. He's a smart guy. But he's also a weird guy. Why is that hard to understand. It's just the way he is.
14. ...And WHY can't a guy act like that? Trans or no, there isn't a set rule for how anyone of any gender "should" act.
17. You don't need to feel ashamed! people are asses about Mary Sues and the like. O_o Also, YuYu Hakusho is awesome! :D
21. No matter how many times I read the definitions for the terms, I can't tell who is GAR or moe or whatthehellever, and I barely have a grasp on what a tsundere actually is. I miss back when people pointed out things in characters that are known to be personality traits.

As someone who spent most of her childhood in gifted programs, I found L to be pretty accurate. >.< A lot of the kids had very strong feelings about what kinds of fabric could touch them, and where.

There was a boy in my fourth grade class who used to cut the collars off his shirts, Flashdance-style. The effect was completely bizarre. At first it seemed like a failed fashion statement, but it turned out he just couldn't stand things touching his neck.

In high school my best friend and hotel roommate for field trips refused to wear undergarments of any kind. She also couldn't sleep unless she was naked. To our mutual relief, she was not a restless sleeper and the sheets did not tend to come off in the night.

As for shoes and socks, I'm completely with L. In first grade I used to quietly slip my feet out of my shoes under my desk. I didn't understand how the other kids could wear their shoes all day without going crazy. I like the idea of socks, especially if they are brightly colored, but I consistently fail to wear them for any length of time. Fortunately, if you're a gifted child, many adults will give you leeway to cultivate bizarre personal habits as you please.

Anyway, I'm rambling. It's fascinating that you had such a strong negative reaction to this character. I'd like to believe that there are more layers to this than are apparent in your secret and I'm not convinced that a lack of socks is really at the bottom of it all. Should you ever happen to read this and feel like elaborating, I'd love to hear more.

#5: Don't let it become an OMG TRIGGER SHOW WORD where you have to be protected from it. Don't let it have that power over you. Don't make that show, that event, part of your identity. People will want you do - you're a survivor, whatever - but don't let them. Don't identify like that.

Ten years ago - oh, wow - I was raped while Rocky Horror was playing in the background. Three years later, when I was in college, I forced myself to join a cast. It was the best thing that ever happened to me, and now I have no bad associations with any of the surrounding events. For a while, I was actually bored of the movie.
