t 41: You're most certainly not the only one who holds that view. Writing characters in that way is extremely refreshing, especially in that it makes them seem a little more real and a little easier to relate to. I'd definitely call it something more worth praising than condemning, although there are occasional cases of having too much of a good thing.

Every little detail counts, after all.

15. No, you're definitely not the only one, not by a long shot. I think that and all the other non-anime stuff on Adult Swim (except Futurama, but that's unfortunately about to disappear from their lineup soon, and I'm so-so on Venture Brothers) is sophomoric, puerile crap, and I don't know why such shows keep getting on the air. Toilet humor and sex jokes =/= "mature," Adult Swim.

Just cause they're everyday normal things doesn't mean they're boring - if the conversation is important and moves the plot along, these are the best types of fic. Sometimes the everyday slipped into a fic in the right way can make it extraordinary, romantic, special. Look at all the films in which everything that happens is not especially uncommonplace, and yet the film still holds strong (Little Miss Sunshine, Garden State.) This is never a bad thing - this is always a good thing.

07. I don't mean this in a bad way at all, honest -- but maybe the fault is with the things you choose to read, and not the genre as a whole? Skip the extremely popular stuff *cough*Reborn*cough*, and check out stuff like Kekkaishi and Gintama.

9. Having read the novels, I can assure you it hasn't become canon yet, and likely never will.

26. God, yes. I'm an aromantic asexual. Never felt sexually attracted to anyone or anything. I'm not repressed, I'm quite fine with the concept of sex, I just don't feel any particular need to have any. Yes, I'm quite open about it, and, frankly, I'm sick of judgemental idiots over the internet. Honestly, whenever the subject of asexuality comes up, there just has to be someone who comes up with a "you're just repressed" or "you're just claiming it to be cool". It's like some people can't even grasp the concept that not everyone thinks sex is the best thing ever. SEXUALITY = SERIOUS BUSINESS GUYS

Personally, my advice is just to ignore people who act like that. Frankly, who cares what some person who doesn't even know you thinks, anyway?

7. You need to skip the likes of Naruto, Reborn, Prince of Tennis, etc, which, I know, practically makes up 75% of shounen series. For a shounen series that does give major roles and importance to women, I can only think of one, Claymore.

7. I dunno about that -- I love and appreciate both, and for very different reasons. Seinen isn't really a suitable replacement for shounen because the mood, tone, and subject matter are very different. IMO, shounen is almost always infused with a boyish, adolescent sort of hope/driving force beneath the badass that seinen does not have, ever.

Also, fanservice tends to be worse in seinen dkflsjfk
