Hannibal from Hannibal?

He is hot. I could also see people making sexual comments about him because his character is very sensual.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-07 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's the first thing that came to mind too.

My first thought was actually Capaldi (because OP mentions old enough to be their dad)

It fit, but...

I believe he's only 48.

What bothers me in one fandom I participate in is the comments on hotness are all about "the bulge" and I don't find bulges particularly attractive. I'm a het female but when I look at a guy that's about the last thing that draws my attention in the attractiveness dept. Never liked anacondas much anyway. King snakes, now that's another story.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-07 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
It's just kind of tacky, IMHO, to focus on that and not anything else.

Anacondas don't want none unless you got buns anyway.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-07 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, the only time I've ever even really thought about "the bulge" was David Bowie in Labyrinth, because. . .well.

There are many, many older men I would lay waste to in bed, OP. Even ones that aren't conventionally attractive. My advice is to let it happen or weird things start to happen, like you either dream the most fucked up kinky dream about him and it really weirds you out because you aren't sure that you or he could bend that way or that it could even go there and now you kind of want to try and injury and legality be damned, or your brain starts to channel that kind into someone else even more fucked up and it's, like, Gordon Lightfoot, Canadian Folk Rock God of our parents' generation and you're fucking him like a porn star and he's really vocal about it and you find yourself enjoying it until you wake up in a cold sweat questioning everything you ever knew.

I mean, I've heard that can happen.

OP:

(Anonymous) 2015-01-07 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
This made me chuckle :)

And by letting it happen, you mean accepting that I'm attracted to him right? Because literally having sex with this actor and/or my teacher would be impossible and extremely unethical (they're both married with kid(s) and one of them is my mentor)

Anon, I am dying here, and I wish I could buy you a beer (a good local one) for how much this comment made me laugh.

This is exactly why I do not suppress my love/boner for my old ass crush. I fear my subconscious rebelling against me.

It's more than one fandom.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-07 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
I find this attitude is pretty common in fandom. I'm ace, so I don't like, fawn over a lot of celebrities sexually, even if I find them very attractive. It makes me super uncomfortable, no matter which celebrity it is.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-07 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Same.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-07 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
RC? 80% of his fans on tumblr are great, but I go out of my way to avoid reblogging the posts riddled with comments on his appearance and similar.

Like, yeah, I'm attracted to him too, but those comments just make me uncomfortable. I sometimes add a comment in the tags, like "I love his hair in this scene", but only when he's In-Character. I wouldn't dream of stating that I want to touch him or breathe in his scent, like a lot of other people...

Rule of Thumb: Look at your comment before hitting publish. Would you be comfortable to discover that someone talked about you the same way? Would you be comfortable if someone talked about your father like that? No? Then don't hit publish.

It's definitely not just one fandom, OP. I've seen a ton of it in my fandom. I'm a lesbian with occasional celebrity dude crushes and while I 100% support and encourage the fact that fandom can be one of the few communities where women are actively encouraged to express their sexual desires so openly, I'm mostly repulsed by/uncomfortable with reading it myself. It makes it hard to look at pictures of my aesthetic dude crushes within the fandom community.

But yeah, definitely not just limited to your fandom. I'm 100% with you here.

I'm not sure what it says about me, but I'm actually a little baffled by this secret. People who are sexually attracted to an actor are going to talk about her/him sexually. They've always been doing this; they were doing it before tumblr and before the internet. And it sounds like these particular fans recognize the difference between fantasy and reality, so...I'm kind of like, "...huh?"

I was in a fandom where the actor in question had a tumblr account and whenever I saw someone make a comment like that it embarrassed me because what if they saw it?

(Anonymous) 2015-01-07 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I do this, too. Mostly because fandom is the only place where I can talk about just how hot I find an actor (his hands for example). IRL when I talk to people about actors I can say "oh, I think X is hot", but that's about it.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-07 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's because most of my friends are dudes and I've had to sit through more than one extremely graphic conversation about what exactly they'd do to the female celebrity du jour, but all those posts in tumblr always seem pretty tame to me. Not nearly half as graphic or dirty as the things men say.

It's through all fandoms, from what I've seen. As an ace person, it makes me pretty uncomfortable. I like that in fandom women are free to express their sexuality and I support that 100%, but all the sexual stuff is just really not for me. I keep it to myself though.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-07 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
Is it Clark Gregg?

Because I adore him and his fans are pretty cool, but sometimes the comments get a little lewd for my tastes. They really only keep it between themselves though, so if you scroll through the tag on tumblr all you'll see is pretty pics.

I do miss the more casual appreciation and talk about Coulson and AoS, but it was starting to bother me and I didn't want to ruin anyone's fun, so I left.
