WOO HOO Glad to know I'm not the only one.

P.S. Such an appropriate icon.

25. FUCKING SIGNED.

I love KH to death, but Alice a 'princess'? GDIAF. Pocahontas is my favourite Disney movie, and I really wanted to at least see it in KH2, but no such luck. You know, I think it's because Pocahontas had, like, energy and she was mischevous. You can't be full of light if you're brave and strong and sneaky! Trufax.

If you're really interested, give it a go. I think a lot of video games have better plots and characters than most TV series these days. Plus, they're fun!

Re: 30

[identity profile] the-murderer.livejournal.com 2008-01-02 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Totally seconded, specially if you're including the game in your icon. <3 (Btw, checked your userpics to make sure it was Wesker and *gasp* Chitose Tachibana, Fatal Frame! That's indeed another point for games with great plots.)

28.- This secret makes me unexplicably amused, in a really good smile-smile way. And I don't even know who that guy is.

Maybe it's the fact that I looked at him before reading the secret and thought "so hot he'd turn a man gay in no time". xD

37.- Christmas tree hair. That's all I want to say. @_@ Dunno the fandom, dunno the character.

41.- Hot. I want the unaltered image, plz.

22. This is one of the reasons I'm staying away from TTGL. The fans scare me. D: I don't think any of my closeclose internet friends are obsessed to -that- point though...

25. Signed. I mean, I love Alice in Wonderland, but Alice isn't a princess! A Pocahontas level would have been awesome in KH! I guess they just thought an Alice in Wonderland world would have been more interesting than a Pocahontas World...?

33. Heh... I ship it, but I prefer it one sided. Then again, I stay pretty low in the TotA fandom, so I haven't had crazy fans ruin it for me. :3

[personal profile] fuyu 2008-01-02 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
Alice isn't the only one who's not a princess, though. Actually, I think only three of the Princesses (possibly four, because we don't know about Kairi's life in Hollow Bastion) actually are royalty. And from a design perspective, I can see why they went with Alice and Wonderland - they probably wanted to open up with a world that was classically Disney-whimsy, and needed some way to introduce the "special girls are being kidnapped!" plot element. Pocahontas wouldn't have worked especially well for those purposes.

(Plus, Japanese game made in Japan, but let's not open that can of worms here. XD)

16. Wardobe > Morals XDDDD ANY. DAY.

17&31: wow! TWO Sweeney Todd secrets in one day? CRAZY! I love the 2005 cast, and thought it was brilliant. And I still am angry that Michael Cerveris didn't get any part in the movie. Still, I thought it was alright.

24. yes! They were just... fun! i miss them too.

30. I just got my first game system, and I still don't play it much because I'm just not in the habit. But I know what you mean. I'm not a gamer, and I don't really wish I was, but sometimes I feel like I miss out on a lot. T_T

36. Heath Ledger as the Joker? OH MAN ABSOLUTELY! I didn't even know that trailer was available. To the internet!

8. I LOVE THIS SECRET.
17. I really hate this attitude that musical theatre fans have, that certain fans are "better" than others because they've been in the fandom longer or because they like certain casts better than others. (Having said that, I have the same attitude, at least when it comes to musicals turned into movies) I love you Patti LuPone. ♥
20. Well EXCUUUUUUSE ME, Princess. :D
31. Things Tim Burton should not have done:
Cut out all the "Ballads", cut out pretty much all of the Johanna/Antony plot, cast Tobias so young (and mostly rewritten his character), cut out all the harmony, cast leads who couldn't handle the vocals...

I did enjoy Johnny Depp as Sweeney, I thought his voice was nice. It wasn't what most Sweeney fans are used to, but I thought the emotion in his vocal performance was really gorgeous, even if the talent wasn't all there.

HBC, however...

(Anonymous) 2008-01-02 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
cast Tobias so young (and mostly rewritten his character)

? Tobias should technically be about 12 to 15 years old; his role is usually played by a boyish adult man or a boyish young woman, however, since the music is tough and the play is relatively adult (not to mention lengthy). I was amazed that they found such a talented, age-appropriate actor to play Toby. He was my favorite part of the whole thing.

Agreed on the Ballads, though.

3.) It's not my favorite, but yes, it's... sort of really, really obvious.

And what? No, you can ship P/E just fine XD; I ship P/E (sorta), Franziska/Adrian, Diego/Mia, Gumshoe/Maggey, Ron/Desiree--all 'obvious' and very popular ships. 'course I also think stuff like Fran/Maya, Takita/Makoto, etc are cute, and those are less popular.

If you love the games, you have credibility. That's it~

7.) I think it's funny that 3 is all "oh noes must ship crack" and 7 is all "oh noes cannot ship crack!"

If Zarla and the Kingmeme of Hueg have proven anything it's that the PW fandom loves crackpairings. >_>

Also, I'd like Apollo/Nick but I want HoboNick to be shot in the head and never come back, and Apollo is too good for him. Soooooo >_>

5.) Remember when you made that secret about how Portal terrified you?

...that was great.

8.) You have no idea what I wanted to do the week I worked in my uncle (a lawyer)'s office.

14.) QFT

21.) I need to start playing so I can hit 70 and do a beta journal for WotLK like I did TBC.

...one of these days I want to submit a "Mage They Call Jayne(z)" secret and see if anyone here knows that. That'd be cool XD;

22.) Give it a chance. The beginning is sort of boring. I didn't fall in love with it until episode 11 and then after timeskip.

Alsoyour friends suck.

28.) Stupid Sexy Lockon claims another victim.

Also, yes. Well, I'm a bit towards the middle on the sexuality meter, but yes. I would have sex with him.

37.) No idea who that is but I love her hair.

38.) The PW fandom has so many wonderful writers. Musouka, Raelle/Lerayl, KingMob, Croik, Pyrasaur... probably some others that don't come to mind XD

[identity profile] wakeupem.livejournal.com 2008-01-02 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
Does anyone know how much input Sondheim had on the movie? Something tells me he wouldn't have allowed Tim Burton to do it if he didn't agree with his vision.

Re: 31.

(Anonymous) 2008-01-02 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
He was involved nearly every step of the way, and agreed with the cutting of extraneous songs. He said he wanted it to be a movie instead of a musical filmed as a movie, so.

That doesn't preclude the right to an unsatisfied opinion, of course! But he said he was very happy with the movie as an adaption.

17. I hear ya. That was me when Moulin Rouge came out and suddenly everyone and their brother "loved musicals."

24. What about trying some of the ones you haven't heard of? Give Fushigiboshi no Futago Hime a try. (Especially the first season)

23. ^_^ Sakura has that effect on some people. I love her to bits, myself.

37. Himawari~! I love her too! :D Love for the CLAMP girls today, it seems. Now if only there was more love for Kohane and the Warashi girls.

13. same.

17 + 31. I made a secret that is coming up similar to yours....And I totally agree. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one DISAPPOINTED. I mean, it could have been so much better and I feel better knowing I liked it before. XD (Same with RENT, actually).

25. I never realized how RIGHT YOU ARE. Pocahontas deserves it so much more than Alice (who, after all, stumbled across a world instead of thrusting herself into it)

26. YES PLEASE.

29. you have no idea how much I sympathize with you right now. No idea.

36. I was shocked at how AMAZING a Joker he is. I can't wait (and am also totally turned on by him)

11 - Ha! I love you! I don't own *any* video game consoles and I haven't played a video game in years, but the trailer for Assassin's Creed made me want to go out and drop $500 on a PS3 and this game. He's super hot.

26 - I'm in the same boat as you. I think I saw that around the time I was 13 or 14, and I'm still looking for a scene like that.

31

[identity profile] strandedthought.livejournal.com 2008-01-02 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
You have to keep in mind that an adaption is exactly that. It won't be exactly like the real thing.

Take Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings for example, plus all the cherished Disney movies.

The movies are all so different from the original books, stories, plays what have you that they are two completely different things which only share the main body of information.

Considering the cast and the lack of vocal training, the movie was amazing. I expected it to be a bit longer, and I am sad that they cut out the middle Anthony/Johanna romance, but I still enjoyed it.

Re: 31

(Anonymous) 2008-01-02 02:28 am (UTC)(link)

11. That game got me to look into parkour training. Partially because he's hot, I guess. And partially because I spent the entire game not doing anything but freerunning and made my brother do all the actual mission bits.

16. Speaking of pretty, who's the one with the wings in the middle? Never seen him (her?) before.

30. I spy Okami! I'm obsessed with that game right now. Although if I fail the canal-digging thing one more time, I'm going to cry.

Two Sweeney secrets today, I gotta say I wasn't expecting it. I appreciated the movie - I always love a good Tim Burton - but I definitely prefer the original stage and even the revival, like 100 times more. Pretty sets and pretty costumes and pretty actors, but the soundtrack doesn't hold a candle to the old ones, and that's what's important with Sondheim.

6. Depends on the secret. I think a secret that goes like this:

"I hate X but everyone treats it as if it were the second coming of Jesus/I like Y but I feel like I'm all alone and it's really frustrating."

is less "BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWW"-worthy than one that goes like this:

"I hate/like Y and no one else does PITY ME!!!!!!1"

20. Could be worse. You could be thinking of this Link:

22.) This is one of the many reasons why I'm never watching that series. Everyone I know loves it, but I've read about it back and forth and I don't see anything that would interest me at all.

31.) Props for using Angela and Len in your secret (nobody will EVER be able to live up to them, in my opinion), but I found the movie wonderful. :)

[identity profile] rosehiptea.livejournal.com 2008-01-02 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
3 I hope you aren't really making fun of the canon love of Gumshoe and Franziska's nose hairs. (No, seriously, if people make fun of you for liking an obvious pairing I guess fandom needs to calm down. Everybody I know likes that pairing... and I can take it or leave it but I hope no one cares that much what I think.)

10 I'm sorry your friend is just not good enough for you. Sorry for her, I mean. Go fine a new friend who is all awesome and cool and let her find someone who actually respects her.

30 I wish I could say you're wrong and not missing out on anything. But I resisted video games for years and they're so damn fun.

40 I'm not sure I'm supposed to ask this, but I hope someone will tell me what this is? I tried google but all I had to go on was "Poland" and that it's a game.
