I've spent a disturbingly long amount of time imagining the relationships I'd like to have with Alexander Siddig's characters.

Bashir (DS9): Date
Kareem (Vertical Limit): Friends who might become more
Shaytana (Poirot): Trophy Wife
Assad (24): One night stand where he talks dirty to me in Arabic

This one (Assad) in particular worries me. Sure, he turns out to be a good guy, but...

This film made a huge impact on me. I thought it was amazing and would definitely rank it as one of the top ten best films I've seen in my life. Usually I rewatch favourite films pretty often, but I've only seen this once, and would be happy never to see it again.

...It's the most skin-crawlingly horrifying film I have EVER seen. I had nightmares for months after watching it. That was years ago, and thinking about it can still make me feel sick and anxious.

(Even fellow fans tend to view it as some "cheesy camp cult classic" that's not worth taking seriously. The number of times I've heard it dismissed as "not really a horror movie" makes me wonder if we were watching the same thing.)

Screenshot of Cliffjumper and Jazz from Level 5 of Fall of Cybertron.

I ship them because of these two levels.

S!B: As far as I can tell, I’m literally the only one. (I’m serious. Check AO3/FFN.)
Jazz and Prowl are the most popular pairing in the fandom, so that’s probably why.

I’m still disappointed, though.

Text: I'm pretty sure that 99% of slash writers are butt-virgins.

(Not MCU-specific. I just chose this image because if I'm gonna make a secret about butts, why not use a nice one?)

First row: left: Kelli Giddish as US Marshall Annie Frost from the series "Chase"; right: Kelli Giddish as Detective Amanda Rollins from "Law & Order: SVU"
Second row: left: Angie Harmon as Detective Lindsay Boxer from "Women's Murder Club"; right: Angie Harmon as Detective Jane Rizzoli from "Rizzoli & Isles"
Third row: 5 of the clones from "Orphan Black" all played by Tatiana Maslany

Text: I'm way better at telling apart different characters played by the same actor than telling apart different actors playing even just barely similar characters.
And I think it's really embarrassing that I can tell which Tatiana Maslany I'm dealing with from 3 seconds of footage but am utterly confused every time a show has two white guys with short dark hair wearing suits.

Text: I kind of hated this song by osmosis. Until I actually listened to the lyrics.

It made me think of my OTP, and now I love it.

This wouldn't be particularly secret-worthy. Except --

-- I'm 40.

(I'm so embarrassed.)

Image: The Wikipedia article detailing Anette Olzon's dismissal from the band Nightwish. The following text is visible:

this has led to a division from which we cannot recover".[71] This announcement came days after Olzon fell ill and was unable to perform; Nightwish used replacement singers from the opening band, Kamelot, and Olzon later expressed her disappointment, saying "I was never asked if it was OK that they used Elize and Alissa in the show [Friday] night [...] I don’t think it’s a good decision they made and I’m sorry for those of you who came to see the whole band but got something else. But I was very ill and this decision wasn’t mine."[72] According to the statement, Floor Jansen (ex-After Forever, ReVamp) will sing for the remainder of the Imaginaerum World Tour.

On January 11, 2013, Olzon announced on her official blog that she was pregnant with her third child, due in spring 2013. This was a contributing factor to her being dismissed.[73] The band then released a statement on their website declaring that the reason Olzon gave for her dismissal and other statements she made were untrue and that Olzon herself had agreed to help find a replacement while she was on maternity leave.[74] Later on, Olzon gave several interviews in which she told that she never agreed with a replacement, even when she was pregnant, and proposed to the band to postpone the tour, culminating on her firing. She also added that she was against Jansen joining the band in her period of maternity, mainly because the difference of their vocal styles.[75]

Secret Text: After reading how it went down with Anette, I'm starting to wonder if Tarja herself wasn't the problem back then, like they said.

I don't want to think about these things. I just want to enjoy my silly symphonic metal songs. :(

IMAGE: From the 'Roar' music video - a bedraggled Katy Perry looks up in awe as suddenly, she sees the light.

TEXT: In the latter half of 2013, RL decided to mess me up quite a bit. Right at the time everything was plummeting to new depths of awfulness, this song became literally unavoidable. And I hated it, because duh, of course I do, I despise everything Katy Perry is and does.

After a while, it was firmly stuck in my brain even during the silent hours. And after a couple of days of this, I had an epiphany. All of a sudden, this annoying earworm became my inspiration to get up, brush off the dust - I'd had enough. Thus I resolved to get myself together and get my life back to normal.

In practical terms I don't know if this resolution really affected anything; but mentally/emotionally I felt a whole lot better (and life did improve a short while later).

Over a year later, I'm finally ready to admit (though not to anyone who knows me IRL) that I've come to love this song - regardless of whether or not it is objectively any good, or what I think of Katy Perry and her music in general.

...I've also started trying to convince myself that it's well beyond time I grow up and stop being such a judgemental ass over things like musical tastes.

Probably true. I also bet most slash writers aren't actually gay men too. The bastards!

I don't think that's uncommon?

(and all teh clones look/sound different anyhow.)

Oh no, it was one of the most horrifying things I've ever seen and for several years completely changed how I saw folk music.

I think a lot of it was to do with how many characters round where I live are like the policeman, hard line Scottish not-on-the-Sabbath Presbyterians and it's a hard struggle putting up with them (their homophobia for instance). I identified much more with the Lord of the Isles which made the end scarier. I wanted him to burn even though he'd done nothing wrong. That was what scared me.

Today was longer than yesterday! Everyone at work thought it was dragging. I am still trying to figure out what to GIF. Nothing I have looks good. This is a very boring week.

I like to imagine that Bashir is secretly a "bad boy" in bed.

And from this secret, I might have to also check out Poirot.
